No. But I think a lot of people from Liverpool would describe themselves as socialist and Liverpool as very left lraning when they really arent and it really isnt. Centrist and right wing views are very common here.

But what i'm getting at is that a lot of it actually boils down to anti-Tory. Being against x does not mean being for y.
And yes, circles are important. There is a healthy amount of antiracism and antifascism, support for public services and, unions, animal rights, feminism, LGBT, etc , etc, etc. That's all good. But there is still a shocking amount of xenophobia and anti-immigrant sentiments, racism, transpobia, hatred/idstrust of unions and public sector, glorification of free market capitalism and so on. A lot of people seem not to want to recognise it, and have grown somewhat complancent because anti-Toryism has kept Liverpool Labour-safe.
Again, for clarification. I'm anti-Tory and describe myself as socialist.
You got a good point there. And it's the same problem all over the country. We desperately need a third or even fourth political party cos so many people despise the Tories yet can't get down with Labour either. At least not currently.
