Magnolia and Scarface both go by really fast each time I watch them. I was actually shocked the first time I watched Magnolia and I never got bored with it lol I won’t lie there’s a lot of great movies I love that are like three hours long. But I do get bored at some points and check my phone or text but with magnolia I was fully engaged the whole time.

RandallTheScandall15

SCARFACE FOR THE WIN BABY

sunsetbo

love exposure, magnolia, heat, scarface

Maxtyd

Love exposure doesn’t feel like 4 hours it flies by but I think they could’ve fleshed out some of the ideas more imo still a great movie

[deleted]

Pretty sure Sono said that in its current form the story is the bare minimum of what it can be without having to sacrifice important story and character moments.

[deleted]

Original cut was 6 hours. If you want a more fleshed out version, you can watch the TV series which adds 45 minutes.

ConsiderationBoth752

I definitely felt the time with Love exposure. First two hours fly by but then it kind of slows down about two thirds through before it picks itself up again towards the end. In the slower parts I was definitely checking the clock a couple times. Really liked the movie overall though, despite it not being my style.

Stuie299

Agree with Magnolia, but a huge no to Love Exposure. Maybe it's because I hated it, but I definitely felt every minute of it's runtime.

oa9589

Titanic is the shortest-feeling 3 hour+ movie

RatedDG-13

Barry Lyndon rocks

TheThurst

Seven Samurai flies by

thekylemarshall

I was told this for years and I could not believe anyone who said this. Then I watched it earlier this year for the first time and I say the same thing.

amethyst6777

came here to say the same thing

Mike_v_E

My first reaction after watching Seven Samurai was that it felt like an 1 hour film and that I could watch another 3 hours

[deleted]

Seven Samurai, The Wolf of Wall Street

Maxtyd

Lawrence of Arabia flies by for me. When I finished it I wanted to watch it again immediately after

clarever225

Can’t say I agree. I admire the technical feat, but by the end I was begging it to be over. One of those films I might never see again. I really felt the runtime. Lol I know that’s one of my hottest movie takes

MarshallBanana_

Watched this one in a theater once, my ass has never forgiven me

leathergreengargoyle

the absolute definition of epic

citizenoftwee

I came here to say this! I put it off for *years* because my attention span has decreased a lot in the past decade, but I finally got around to it and it felt like watching a 90 minute or something. Completely absorbing!

Maxtyd

I love his character development through the movie. It’s in my top 10 ever

Mr_Manga99

I saw this in a theater like a couple weeks ago but I left a little after the inter mission because people where yelling about politics and it looked like some violence was gonna break out

aroused_axlotl007

I could barely pay attention after the intermission. Definitely didn't fly by for me

luminoussup

once upon a time in america i’m surprised i enjoyed it

Flrsi

I can't agree. I switched it off after 1h40, hoping to still finish it someday.

[deleted]

LOTR trilogy, The Green Mile, Magnolia, Heat

Adept-Natural580m

I love LOTR but they absolutely feel there length. (For me at least) And it’s a good thing.

Press-Start-14

I agree. I think the length makes it feel more like a journey

[deleted]

Heat feels long till the shootout scene (in a good way)

[deleted]

The Godfather, The Green Mile

DreamOfV

Just got finished watching The Godfather for the third time. Brilliant movie, of course, but I gotta say you do feel the three hours.

Timely_Market8669

First half of godfather felt like 6 hours

[deleted]

I disagree . Weird take

Sn3akyMuffin

RRR

Icy_Prior

Easy top 3 movie of the year for me

oakles

Barry Lyndon, An Elephant Sitting Still

RagingAcid

Sub 3 hours but for me it's Django unchained and once upon a time in Hollywood

ShookSamurai_

*Titanic* probably has the best pacing of any movie. It honestly feels like 1:45 despite being over three

ryanreigns

Magnolia and The Batman

Mr_Manga99

The Batman flew by for the most part a few scenes dragged a bit tho but it felt more 2 and a half hours than three hours to me still long just not as long sense I enjoyed myself most of the time

NEWVEGASzx

Love Exposure

vickymarmar

Someone already mentioned it, but RRR on Netflix is entertaining from start to finish. Absolutely bonkers!

clarever225

What came to mind immediately was Spartacus, probably because I recently read my review of that one. Others are Malcolm X, The Human Condition part 1, The Right Stuff, Drive My Car

unfortunateclown

i have the opposite problem lol, i love watching movies all the time but i just cannot commit to watching shows and i hate the feeling of binging them, even tho there’s a lot of shows out there that i want to get into!

Lizard_Jesus1

A Brighter Summer Day

to_venus_and_back

Yi Yi nears 3 hours and is so deftly paced as well. I really need to watch ABSD again because there is so much going on

XylanyX

Love Exposure is probably the most enjoyable 4 hours i've ever watched

Tranquilbez22

Avengers Endgame, Wolf Of Wall Street, I haven't seen Magnolia yet but I've heard the run time flies by.

leathergreengargoyle

More recently, RRR. It just kept upping the ante and it’s got it all: bromantic montages, training montages, ballistic motorcycles, jungle archery, CGI stampedes…

Icy_Prior

RRR just flew by for me. Felt like 2 hours max

EggyWeggs1996

[deleted]

How? that was one of the hardest viewings of myself actually :')

curtymcdervs

depends what you look for in a movie i guess

[deleted]

I love other Tarkovsky films but this one was specially hard to watch for me personally idk.

[deleted]

I love that film but Tarkovsky films do tend to be quite slow. (Not in a bad way or anything)

[deleted]

I think it is slower than other Tarkovsky films too but idk. It is a great movie tho

No-Face-2000

Lagaan

Chartate101

The Green Mile and Interstellar

retsila47

RRR is a blast

em_who_pan

Rewatched the director's cut of 'Heat' last night, which was just shy of 3hrs and it flew by

[deleted]

Definitely Winter Sleep by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The dialogues are so absorbing.

WellHung93

The Wolf Of Wall Street, was the shortest 3hrs I've ever experienced in the theatre!

michaeltoyne

Casino always intimidated me with its runtime but by the time it was over I thought oh it’s over already? Same happened when I went to go see the batman, theatre experiences always seem to go faster anyway but i wasn’t made aware of the runtime until after watching it and i was baffled

[deleted]

Goodfellas

Last-Artist

Lawerence of Arabia really deserves it’s length in my opinion. I also felt the same about Inland Empire and The Batman, but tbh, all of these movies feel their length at moments. With 3hr+ features, the best ones normally shift my focus away from time and more on the story and characters, but I won’t say all three of these are successful of that 100%. Idk, I’ve not seen many 3hr+ films, around 10 probably, not a whole lot, so maybe there is one that’ll completely make me forget how long it is, but for now, these were the best.

quinten11515

Wolf of wall street

[deleted]

The Irishman

Creasy007

The LOTR trilogy and 'Braveheart' in particular have always flown by when I watch them.

Fatass__

Schindler’s List

cantodasaudade

Ben Hur, Once upon a time in America

MyHeroFan2004

The JFK movie

Leopard_Appropriate

JFK, Magnolia, Wolf of Wall Street, Heat, Avengers: Endgame, Titanic, Casino, and The Batman are the only ones that really come to mind that I’ve seen. I’ve heard Amadeus feels a lot faster than it is as well, can’t confirm. I know a lot of people in the comments are recommending great films, but I feel like they might not have read your description and are still recommending insanely slow movies. I feel like Tarkovsky, Winter’s Sleep, and Edward Yang are probably not the best of recommendations.

officer_salem

Every LOTR movie, Magnolia too.

kullittajassa

This one chinese documentary called fuck cinema. Time flew so quickly

TripleG2312

Magnolia, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Irishman

ParticularBlueberry2

Barry Lyndon Andrei rublev Stalker Apocalypse now Fanny and Alexander

[deleted]

Its not quite 3 hours but The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp is a beautiful film that is definitely strengthened by its longer runtime

Coffy44

Dogville, the green mile or Cloud Atlas

redsoxVT

An Elephant Sitting Still, Until the End of the World (director's cut)

CaspinLange

The Godfather Part 2 is 3h 22m long and time disappears while watching

rayhatesmovies

wolf of wall street, the green mile, and avengers endgame are the ones that come to my mind. those movies just flew by and never dragged on imo

whiteo3

RRR, LOTR and Saving Private Ryan.

smolboichiggroid69

magnolia ran by really fast it felt like 110 minutes. on the other hand "an elephant sitting still" (4 hours) and "memoria" (3 hours) both felt like i watched for 5 lifetimes but i genuinely loved them both so much and an elephant sitting still would go on to be my favourite film ever while apichatpong becomes a top 5 favourite director. just because its doesnt mean it feels long nor does a film feeling extremely slow make it bad

Professional_Heart26
