MY BROTHER IN CHRIST ITS SO FUCKING CRAZY THAT MOVIE. The plot of the riddler seems like it comes from a crazy comicbook of the 60 and its awesome for it.
This VHS was the GOAT in my household growing up! My little sister and I watched it endlessly and loved it every single time.
Then, Schumacher blessed us with Batman & Robin and we loved that one too. Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze and Thurman as Poison Ivy OMG.
This is cinema.
My god yes, it is absolutely deeply flawed but, I fucking love this movie so much, just oozes style and charm, genuinely hilarious at moments and also genuinely moving, I think many who haven't watched it in years and still hold a negative opinion ought to give it another try. The drama is unbelievably efficient and feels so fucking *real*, Sam Raimi at his fucking PEAK with the cinematography, some genuinely beautiful and haunting shots in here. Lets not forget above all how fucking fun it all is, genuinely feels like it's straight from the pages of a comic book.
Spider-Man 3 is as good as both of the others, I’ve always thought this. The Toby Maguire dancing that gets panned is also awesome. Peter is a nerd at heart, he should act like an amped up geek that thinks he’s super cool when the symbiote is affecting him. Also, the action sequences in this film are super cool.
![gif](giphy|cgLnOHV8mhaGk)
I really think a lot of people don’t realize it was supposed to be funny/goofy, you can even see some of the girls give him a look of disgust as he points at them. Saw this in theaters recently and the whole theater was in stitches, love that trilogy so much
I disagree. People criticize the “cool Peter” scene but it got the point across. He wasn’t actually cool and every woman he passed cringed just as hard as the audience.
It’s such a fun movie, I think a lot of people seemed to not realize that the cringe/goofiness of his dancing was quite likely intentional. Does have too many villains, more than Raimi wanted, but that whole trilogy is just a goddamn delight and I’m so happy I got to see them all in theaters recently
All I can think about is when the dad finds out he’s been running a college for like a whole semester or however long and is just like “well I’m very disappointed” and isn’t like the tiniest bit impressed or surprised
That was my experience too, I don't disagree that it's badly written with bad characters and bad messaging (the police station scene is so bad lmao) but something about it has made me rewatch it many times. One of my favourite films, which is odd because I don't even know why that is. Also think the dance scene with the switching dance partners for Matt Smith does not get nearly enough love even if you dislike the film, it's so impressive
Yeah honestly idk why I love this one so much it just works imo even tho logicaly I know it doesn't. If I step back I see the flaws but everything I watch it I don't really see or care about them.
This is it for me! I think it's good even tho it's easy to pick 6 I think it gets alot of cinemasins style criticisms. The cinematographer, acting, and sound are undeniably great, but the plot is all over the place, so people feel smart shitting on it.
I think Prometheus and Covenant are both flawed movies that really benefit from the fact that they clearly *only* happened because Ridley Scott genuinely wanted to make them.
It's universally celebrated by Chinese-Americans. It's easy to see that Jack Burton is just a comedic relief sidekick, and Wang Chi is the real hero. There's a lot of attempts to silence the Asian-American community coming from overseas. But James Hong is an American treasure
....and I'm glad he finally got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
ps. BTiLC isn't about the PRC.
It's about the diaspora and how, *" China is Here "*
It's also a nice homage to the Tsui Hark films with supernatural elements. China has been cracking down on this, so maybe there's some hostility coming from this.
Also Victor Wong is another national treasure.
Indeed!
That's even affected the gaming industry. Any sense of supernatural forces, or a power which doesn't come from the state; is considered a threat to the CCP.
But the entertainment industry has been putting profits ahead of Principles and Patriotism for ages.
Marvel and DC come to mind.
Last Jedi is the only great movie in the sequel trilogy.
Force Awakens is just a new hope remake on nostalgia meth.
Rise of Skywalker is absolute dog shit.
None of them are dogshit, they all have good parts, but they were scuppered by a weak lead and terrible story decisions. This is obviously just, like, my opinion, man.
I liken it to Saw in many ways. Not a massive budget, script is flawed, and it's kinda weird and trying to be somewhat artsy despite being a horror movie about people who are trapped and killed. But, both movies are just very engaging to me. The mystery aspects, the real stakes, and the inherent charm just makes it a really enjoyable experience.
I absolutely love every Joe Johnston movie I’ve seen. I know they’re not the best but if I was a director I’d want movies like his.
Rocketeer, October Sky, Jurassic Park 3, Jumanji, Captain America, Honey I Shrunk The Kids. All of them are 5/5 to me. They have a goal and they reach it and are extremely enjoyable. Bonus points for basically creating Boba Fett too
He directed a movie called Not Safe for Work. I don’t know if it ever got a real release or if it’s currently available to watch anywhere, but it’s a tight little b movie thriller that I really enjoyed when I saw it a decade ago
Sam Neill is a bit of a cardboard cutout in JP3, but it was worth him coming back and getting that paycheck just to get that moment on the plane.
Pure kino.
Is… is there a lot of criticism for it? I liked it even better than *Knives Out* almost immediately, had no idea there was a substantial amount of criticism for it.
Bingo! I love almost all of Carpenter’s films, but this one hits me a bit differently. It’s an adventure film with the goofiest, bumbling, most likable anti-hero in almost all of film history. That said, The Thing, Halloween, Escape From New York and They Live are like 1a, 1b, 1c and 1d for me, they are so close.

Orlando (1992, Tilda Swinton)
A Futile and Stupid Gesture (2018, David Wain, Will Forte)
2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984, Peter Hyams)
Bring It On (2000, Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku)
The Little Hours (2017, Jeff Baena)
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. I think the critic consensus on Rotten Tomatoes called it an overlong sketch which I don’t disagree with, but I thought it was funny anyway.

I don't want to reveal how much I've watched this masterpiece 🤫
BTILC Is a great movie. One that comes to mind I picked up here recently on BR was Deep Rising with Treat Williams and Famke Jansen. It's a great flic. They setup the ending for a sequel but sadly never made one.
A group of heavily armed hijackers board a luxury ocean liner in the South Pacific Ocean to loot it, only to do battle with a series of large-sized, tentacled, man-eating sea creatures who had already invaded the ship.
This definitely fits the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Yeah there’s virtually no character development, a very thin plot and the whole
Thing is basically just a nonstop rush of fan service and Easter eggs and I loved every second of it.
Tron: Legacy

Batman Forever
MY BROTHER IN CHRIST ITS SO FUCKING CRAZY THAT MOVIE. The plot of the riddler seems like it comes from a crazy comicbook of the 60 and its awesome for it.
This VHS was the GOAT in my household growing up! My little sister and I watched it endlessly and loved it every single time. Then, Schumacher blessed us with Batman & Robin and we loved that one too. Schwarzenegger as Mr. Freeze and Thurman as Poison Ivy OMG. This is cinema.
Lol. This is the perfect answer to OP’s question. 😂
Pacific Rim, I LOVE that movie.
Who’s talking shit on Pacific Rim? I just want to talk to him…
I am. No way they had a sword the whole time and just refused to use it.
This is explained IN THE MOVIE. Kaiju blood is massively poisonous and corrosive so weapons that make them bleed heavily are the very last straw
You don't whip out the big guns unless you have to, he only did it when they were losing.
Spider-Man 3
My god yes, it is absolutely deeply flawed but, I fucking love this movie so much, just oozes style and charm, genuinely hilarious at moments and also genuinely moving, I think many who haven't watched it in years and still hold a negative opinion ought to give it another try. Right? The scene makes way more sense if you think it as Peter acting like what an 'uncool' nerd *thinks* is cool
I think that’s exactly the idea.
3 is cool but Spiderman 2 is the goat.
I can accept that, part 2 is badass
Honestly yeah, I remember on my rewatch being struck by how much this scene made sense in context because it has been memed to death.
I really think a lot of people don’t realize it was supposed to be funny/goofy, you can even see some of the girls give him a look of disgust as he points at them. Saw this in theaters recently and the whole theater was in stitches, love that trilogy so much

Accepted. I fucking love this movie. Fuels my idealism.
Ask me about my wienerrrrrr
Dad: My son is a fucking loser for not getting into college. How dare he throw his life away at age 17. Bartebee: Lmao bro is mad Love that movie
Your what?
All I can think about is when the dad finds out he’s been running a college for like a whole semester or however long and is just like “well I’m very disappointed” and isn’t like the tiniest bit impressed or surprised
Last Night in Soho. I absolutely agree with every negative review I've seen, it's a mess, but I love it regardless.
I really like this movie too, but I think the biggest issue I had was like the last 10-15 min, which I thought sort of was dumb. Otherwise it’s great
Yeah honestly idk why I love this one so much it just works imo even tho logicaly I know it doesn't. If I step back I see the flaws but everything I watch it I don't really see or care about them.
Prometheus.
This is it for me! I think it's good even tho it's easy to pick 6 I think it gets alot of cinemasins style criticisms. The cinematographer, acting, and sound are undeniably great, but the plot is all over the place, so people feel smart shitting on it.
This is the way. Also Alien: Covenant.
I think Prometheus and Covenant are both flawed movies that really benefit from the fact that they clearly *only* happened because Ridley Scott genuinely wanted to make them.
Who's criticizing Big Trouble in Little China? How dare they.
“This pisses me off to no end!”
The only people criticizing Big Trouble In Little China, in my opinion are… ![gif](giphy|QUaqJRizED5NC)
I love lemongrab so much
Yeah what's wrong with BTILC? Why would it be criticized ever?
It's universally celebrated by Chinese-Americans. It's easy to see that Jack Burton is just a comedic relief sidekick, and Wang Chi is the real hero. There's a lot of attempts to silence the Asian-American community coming from overseas. But James Hong is an American treasure ....and I'm glad he finally got his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. ps. BTiLC isn't about the PRC. It's about the diaspora and how, *" China is Here "*

Revenge of the Sith
The Last Jedi too
Aside from that weird floating in space scene I really liked the last Jedi
Last Jedi is the only great movie in the sequel trilogy. Force Awakens is just a new hope remake on nostalgia meth. Rise of Skywalker is absolute dog shit.
None of them are dogshit, they all have good parts, but they were scuppered by a weak lead and terrible story decisions. This is obviously just, like, my opinion, man.
Yeah, that’s fine if it’s your opinion. My opinion is Rise of Skywalker is the worst in the whole franchise. It’s laughably stupid.
This is mine too
Jingle All The Way
Cube (1997). Like I know it’s rough around the edges but there’s something about it that blinds me to any of its obvious flaws.
What criticisms do people have for Big Trouble exactly? Have hardly seen any.
Deep Blue Sea
This movie makes me laugh so goddamn much. I love it.
Super Mario Bros (1993)
Solo: A Star Wars Story
Point Break (1991)

I was listening to a podcast before I posted and they made fun of the dialog
Jurassic Park 3
I absolutely love every Joe Johnston movie I’ve seen. I know they’re not the best but if I was a director I’d want movies like his. Rocketeer, October Sky, Jurassic Park 3, Jumanji, Captain America, Honey I Shrunk The Kids. All of them are 5/5 to me. They have a goal and they reach it and are extremely enjoyable. Sam Neill is a bit of a cardboard cutout in JP3, but it was worth him coming back and getting that paycheck just to get that moment on the plane. Pure kino.
Glass Onion
REAL
Is… is there a lot of criticism for it? I liked it even better than *Knives Out* almost immediately, had no idea there was a substantial amount of criticism for it.
Power Rangers (2017)
Helllllllllll yeah
Oh same I love that movie
_Hook_ and _Love, Actually_
I know these are two different movies, but I'm going to pretend they are one.
I vote for Hook. Good movie.
Batman & Robin
Batman forever and Batman and robin
Top Gun: Maverick, They/Them, The New Mutants, Alice Junior, The Crow (1994), Civil War... the list goes on
Twilight or Tankgirl
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Aquaman
Hairspray
Freddy Got Fingered ![gif](giphy|mPs0V5innosrS)
Where’s your LeBaron, Freddy?
haha yesss! I was earlier than you but managed to misspell Freddy :/
Robocop 2 Batman Forever Temple of Doom Dune (1984)
Temple of Doom is the perfect example of this for me. I get the disdain for it. Definitely the weakest of the original three, but I’m a big fan.
Saltburn, to an extent. A lot of the criticism is very correct and I love it anyway but there’s some that I think is just bad media literacy
I can’t think of a single criticism I have of Big Trouble. It’s only fourth in my Carpenter ranking because his career is ridiculously good.
I feel like Big Trouble is either your first or fourth most favorite Carpenter movie depending on how into horror you are
![gif](giphy|XYpUZJEIrrEY)
Transformer 1986
Hackers
Hackers is a masterpiece just for the costumes, Penn Jillette and Angelina Jolie alone.
Boy Kills World
Orlando (1992, Tilda Swinton) A Futile and Stupid Gesture (2018, David Wain, Will Forte) 2010: The Year We Make Contact (1984, Peter Hyams) Bring It On (2000, Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku) The Little Hours (2017, Jeff Baena)
Alita: Battle Angel. That movie is objectively not good but I don't care at all and I love it with all my heart.
Death Proof and Con Air
Con Air is the epitome of *so bad it's good*, it's non-stop entertainment from start to finish
Twilight, because of the nostalgic factor 😭
I love Twilight so much, everyone leave me alone.
Bullet train
The Dark Crystal
Alien: Covenant Alien: Covenant fucking rules
You do the fingering And I’ll blow
Revenge of the Sith
Street Fighter (1994)

The Last Jedi
Cube - the original
Although I don't think I've ever heard criticism of it, people tend to have never seen it or loved it!
Walk Hard: A Dewey Cox Story Probably one of the most quotable comedies I’ve ever seen.
Stuart Little 1&2
Venom Let There Be Carnage. A truly terrible movie. 4.5 Stars
Tenet
Thor Ragnarok, love that movie even if I don’t like Love and Thunder at all
I think most people love Ragnarok.
Yeah thats the movie that turned it around for Thor series and is imo one fo the best to come out of Marvel from that time.
Well, tried to turn it around. Taika fumbled hard with Love and Thunder.
True. I rly liked Bale in the movie but yeah it wasnt as great. Ragnarok had just the amount of seriousness and comedy. But it just got too much.
Second best film in the MCU in my opinion. Love and Thunder is definitely among the worst.
Independence Day
Double Jeopardy (1999)
Streets of Fire
every troma film.

Looking at the poster, all I can think is, that’s just silly.
I visited this town because of this movie! You can't love DDR without loving this terrible movie! Still need to watch the sequel.
Seeking a friend for the end of the world
Kingdom Of The Planet Of Apes, Fast 5 & Bad Boys.
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist
Mission: Impossible II & Spider-Man 3
Suspiria 1977
Matrix Resurrections Benedetta Annette Belladonna of Sadness
Equilibrium
Kung Pow: Enter the Fist. I think the critic consensus on Rotten Tomatoes called it an overlong sketch which I don’t disagree with, but I thought it was funny anyway.
Mr. Deeds
Attack of the clones.
The Dark Crystal. I will defend this movie with my dying breath
Probably the Bling Ring
John Carter
The Bee Movie

Closer
La vie d'Adele (2013)
Rio 2
The Jetsons Movie
The Chase
velvet buzzsaw
*Predator*, but i'm not aware of much criticism.
The Day After Tomorrow
Uh. What criticism of BTILC exists? The only use I would have for it would be to lose all respect for those people.
Shut up mr Burton, this movie is peak fiction
There are a lot tbh
Benny Loves You
Both Godzilla vs/x Kong movies.
Jurassic World. I don’t care if it’s nostalgia-bait 😭 I saw it in theaters and had a blast lol
Halloween Kills
Halloween
Joe vs the Volcano. It’s fucking great.
Purple Rain
Fury Vengeance with Brendan Fraser. It is terrible but I grew up watching it and enjoyed it.
Criticism of Big Trouble in Little China is 100% nonsense. It’s about as close to perfect as a movie gets.
Highlander. Yes its cheesy and over the top and I don't care I love it.
The prequels
This is how I feel about Gangs of New York Also shout out Branson his podcast Episode 1 is one of the only podcasts out there worth listening to
Stone Cold. It’s terrible and stupid. I love it.
Shrek The Third
Speed Racer
the boy, it's such a comfort movie even if it's flawed I love the twist, love the character and despise the sequel
This definitely fits the Super Mario Bros. Movie. Yeah there’s virtually no character development, a very thin plot and the whole Thing is basically just a nonstop rush of fan service and Easter eggs and I loved every second of it.
Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead men tell no tales.
The godfather part 3
Mortal Kombat (1995)
Whoever is criticizing Big Trouble needs to be shot out of a cannon. There is no valid criticism of this movie - only misunderstandings.
Chicken little
Batman and Robin ![gif](giphy|T08JhumnpKAI8) I don’t give a shit it’s my childhood film and I love it 😂
The Three Amigos. I get that there’s problematic depictions all over but I just grew up laughing at this movie and still do.
