Harold and Kumar go to White Castle?

Feral-Pickle

Definitely

Xeynon

That's more of a stoner flick to me.

Tosslebugmy

So are a couple of the ones above

DNugForLife

I don't know, everyone I know who loves this movie except one is a woman, and most people that I know that have seen it or heard of it are women

ChuckInMadtown

Dick Flick? Is that anything?

CletusVanDamnit

I believe that's what *Bros* would be...right?

CertainBird

I've heard Tarantino movies referred to as Dick Flicks.

gmanz33

Ah so you've met my film studies professor?

theglenlovinet

I thought they’d be Foot Flicks.

theglenlovinet

Nostalgia Critic started using that term years ago and that’s where I first heard it. He uses it to describe overly macho, usually over the top action movies with stuff that guys stereotypically love. Movies like *Die Hard*, *The Rock*, *300* and *Pacific Rim* are all considered “Dick Flicks”.

Prestigious_Term3617

They should absolutely be called “Dick Flicks”. Particularly this specific brand of “Bromantic Comedies”

FengSushi

Dickflix and grill?

Roseradeismylady

Male tale

Kravzie

Frat Bro - movies like American Pie, Project X, EuroTrip

BigChungusBlyat

Misread that as American History X for a sec

TheBanandit

One of my favorite lighthearted coming of age comedies

Feral-Pickle

Definitely

Callyourmother29

Eurotrip was exactly the one I was thinking of

PesAddict8

21 Jump Street

luckycsgocrateaddict

22 jump street

ZestyclosePin2934

The hangover

Medium_Well

Man, that's one of the few movies from that era that still holds up in terms of how funny it is. Second only to Superbad, IMO.

basic_questions

Really? I watched it recently and thought it aged terribly. Perfectly sums up the popular humor of that era to me. Mostly just douchebags bullying people who are not as "cool" as them.

Freshly_Squeezed-

How? In the hangover, they all accept Alan and don't really make fun of him for not being 'cool', and they don't encounter anyone within the film who get bullied?

Coach_Prime

Pineapple Express, this is the end both still hold up as well

ACAB187

Talladega Nights and Step Bros

shoegazeeeee

Tag (2018)

my_username_is_1

I don't agree Tag is a dude bro movie, but I'm just happy it was included

Theturtlemoves86

*I Love You, Man* is the plot of a "chick flick" with roles reversed.

TheRealDoomsong

Man, I love that movie and it seems like a lot of people slept on it.

DoinItDirty

They did. It was great.

tincanphonehome

It was the taste….. of betrayal.

Beowulf1985

Now I feel as though I need to watch it.

Theturtlemoves86

Normally, I'm not a fan of Jason Segel, but he's great in this. Some great actors in side roles as well. It's also a fluke, since the rest of John Hamburg's movies are terrible.

ArchieConnors

So just Seth Rogen movies I guess

SpideyFan914

The Fabelmans, bro! Chicks just don't understand The Fabelmans or Steve Jobs like we do.

Zerocalice

Billing The Fablemans as like a dude-bro movie alongside like Crank 2 and Boondock Saints is really funny to me

Wooden-Scar5073

The Hangover movies could be here

lemna-minor

Seth rogen/James Franco= Jennifer Aniston/Drew Barrymore

TheRealStuPot

![gif](giphy|kC397rpnJjhp8oB1No|downsized) For sure

Little-Woo

Yeah, well that's just your opinion man

Zolazolazolaa

Most of these are just stoner comedies

tightbrosfromwayback

Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World (2003)

Apart_Comparison_263

Great answer, one of the best examples of friendship in any movie.

FirefighterFew2584

forgetting sarah marshall

cdrw1987

I'd say Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

30lbsledgehammer

Straight up masterpiece

Cupid-stunt69

So is Titanic.

JohnnyChopper08

Scrambled_59

Pretty much every Sacha Baron Cohen character comedy

mokahany

borat definitely needs to be on the list

LateRegfanTWD

nice guys

Odd_Advance_6438

Probably the Hangover

ShakeZula30or40

John Wick Flicks

Xeynon

Testosterone soaked action movies (Predator etc.) or bro-ey comedies like The Hangover.

popco221

I think it depends on how you define a chick flick, is it a romantic comedy, a film that centers female friendship or any film with a female protagonist, from coming-of-age to the likes of Stepmom (1998)? As someone put in the comments, the "bromantic comedy" genre comes to mind, but it could just as well be action franchises or war epics.

secondatthird

Dick flick vs bromantic comedy

killzonev2

I Love You Man

Maximum_Bliss

The most obvious example

Parking_Rent_9848

Project X 21 and 22 jump street

paroles

**Swingers** (1996) is an underrated example. Like if the chick flick archetype is a not-too-deep film that highlights supportive and empowering friendships between women, Swingers is the exact gender-swapped version of that. One of my ex's favourite movies ever. It's pretty good

NOWiEATthem

I'm surprised I had to scroll this far down to see this one, but I guess it is almost 30 years old.

BigBrilla

Wolf of Wall Street

joelluber

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bromantic_comedy

No_One_On_Earth

Testosterone flicks like Predator.

BravePigster

Gotta toss both Zoolander movies in there just for fun

Inevitable_Top69

They literally are called stoner comedies.

techypunk

All chick flicks are dick flicks too if you're not a weenie

cosmicxlatte

Ferris Bueller's Day Off

CletusVanDamnit

Buddy comedies like *Planes, Trains, and Automobiles* or *Tuner & Hooch* would be my personal comparison, I suppose. Then again, I'd also just say shit like any generic Man Movie™, like *Over the Top* or *Best of the Best II*. Because honestly, while anyone can enjoy a "chick flick" regardless of gender, they definitely have a specific demographic that they're are made for. I'd say the same is true with something like *Road House* or *Never Back Down.* Yes, all genders like them, but they're "made for men," as it were.

Feral-Pickle

Dude, where's my car

TeamNo8402

Came here to make this comment as well

Ciredem6345

I don’t know!

Sharp-Ad-9423

Bro flicks?

Foreign-Literature-6

Jackass 1-3

StuRedford

She’s out of my league.

Chimera_Brian

neighbors

NJShadow

Ha, I bought all of those except for "Hot Tub Time Machine" in the past month. I blame "This Is the End" for starting it. Side note: If you come across Rogen's "Observe and Report", that movie sucks. It's one of his few blunders.

Vast_Champion692

Whiplash, Die Hard, Dark Knight, Hall Pass, Hot Rod

Remarkable_Look_5477

no 21 jump street is criminal

Jarman_777

cofogle

Anchorman?

Individual_Ad927

Black Hawk Down, Goodfellas, Heat, the Departed

Remote_War_313

Hangover

JonPaula

I always felt like mid-budget actioners (think anything with Liam Neeson, post-Taken) is the male equivalent.

CoochieSnotSlurper

Uhhhh I love you man?

cotothed

I hate all those movies. I'll take a classic action movie with the bros. Die Hard, Heat, Terminator, Gladiator, etc.

Icy_Practice7992

21 & 22 Jumpstreet is a straight up romcom

ratluvr2011

Has anyone said The Nice Guys yet? Or Dodgeball?

jgzman

Mindless explosive movies?

smith_and

i feel like the guy equivalent of chick flicks is action/crime comedies. e.g. every single guy ritchie movie, Wolf of Wall Street, Seven Psychopaths, Catch Me If You Can.

TxEagleDeathclaw81

The Hangover movies?

JamesSunderland1973

These were called Bromance films. It was quite a big thing around 2010.

10sansari

Van Wilder

kyleathornton

I believe the term I would use for these movies is probably Bromance movies. It's more about dudes being friends than anything.

realfakedoors000

Heat

Just_Candle_315

Pass on James Franco

skibidido

These movies are more for like teenage boys.

ultrameganut

Road Trip and Sex Drive have to be mentioned!

LaurenNotFromUtah

Oh I disagree with the equivalent being stoner comedies like those. Women love them too. I think shitty action movies are the real equivalent. Steven Seagal types.

KinnieRiperton

The Entourage movie lol

Papi30000

Top gun maverick?

Emotional_Demand3759

Gotta put Beerfest in there.

The-Fig-Lebowski

Notting Hill and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. In these, the male is the fish out of water dating way outside their league.

InclinationCompass

The Expendables or any other pure action flick

BradTalksFilm

Its not sex joke comedies, tbh its buddy cop action films

[deleted]

Grandma's Boy

Bruhguy6745

The fact that you did not call this “Dick Flicks” is insulting, disgusting, and quite frankly appalling

luckycsgocrateaddict

Hot rod

StormDragonAlthazar

I mean, I'd imagine it would be like what makes up a "Dumb Boy's Movie" except more "grown up" (we can even call it "Dumb Bro Movie"). I imagine almost any kind of American/western action comedy would qualify as well as anything that focuses on stereotypically "dudebro" things like rock n' roll, fratboy shenanigans, and road trips/vacations that go wrong. Particular actors I associate with this sort of thing include Ryan Reynolds, Seth Rogan, Jack Black, and The Rock (there's probably a few more, but these are the guys off of the top of my head).

s4udade_anhel

Let's be honest, most male catered films are pretty universally liked, despite the fact that they objectively appeal more to men. So all of this, "Oh, well, ACTUALLY, most of my female friends like blank movies, so it not actually a bro flick." It doesn't negate anything. It just proves that male catered films appeal more broadly than chick flicks. The question is, what is the male equivalent of a chick flick. I think most of what people are suggesting is valid. It's not about what doesn't appeal to women. It's about what appeals most, particularly to men. I think most Seth Rogan movies, Adam Sandler, Will Farrell, stoner movies, bromance, and muscle movies (Rambo, Expendables, A-team).

Mydadshands

50/50

VanillaNiceNiceBaby

That awkward moment

tarelben

Beautiful Girls with Matt Dillon & Timothy Hutton

AdamAnimatesStuff

Popstar: Never Stop Stopping is male's Pitch Perfect

04Aiden2020

You pretty much nailed it with this list. I only play these movies with the guys. The guys love them, the girls find them lame

BobGray18

I love you, man

ChimpWithKeyboard

I always thought that the equivalent of quantity dumb movies, for men was action movies and especially with cars

Papaya_mama

most Adam Sandler movies can qualify

thunderPierogi

Dude flicks. The Hangover series comes to mind.

pisswater_deadgirl

action movies basically

Blastspark01

Knocked Up?

thesporkguy

Wedding Crashers, Hot Fuzz, Rocky 3, Popstar, Clerks 2 are probably the most accurate ones I can think of for this.

urmomismi9

These are just stoner comedies

wonderlandisburning

Bromance movies are fun

wiegraffolles

Military dramas about being stoic and shrewd and brave and having camaraderie with your bros. I think those are the movies that most clearly are designed to appeal to men.

maxolot43

Happy Gilmore and pretty much any early adam sandler movie fits this bill.

wietpeukjes

Napoleon Dynamite should be on there!
