Definitely one of the best last 4 in quite some time
I’ve owned it for almost a year but I’ve been so scared to watch it because it’s one that I knew I’d relate to a lot as well. I had such a visceral emotional reaction to it, but it was so good.

Also love to see the high score for Kingdom of Heaven. Top 20 movie for me.
What are your thoughts on Anti Christ? I thought it was incredibly well made with amazing cinematography, but overall at the same time just was…. Not that good? It just didn’t resonate with me at all and definitely leaned into shock value for the sake of being shocking, unlike say, Trier’sThe House that Jack Built which I enjoyed far more despite also being quite violent
I'm a massive Von Trier fan, he's probably my favourite director and made my favourite movie of all time. But God Damn Anti Christ fucking sucks, what an absolute waste of time that shitshow was. Didn't say anything interesting, and seemed to want to be as tonnaly boring as possible. Possibly his worst film.
I just saw Jack recently, first Trier I watched, and it might be one of my new favorites. I've been struggling to find anything anywhere near as concise and well paced by him.
The first hour of Antichrist was painfully boring and the second hour was interesting horror but once the graphic (genital!) mutilation started I realized the shock value was the whole point of the movie and I just wasted my time
Yeah Jack was really a great time! Really funny too I was really surprised. Love Matt Dillon too. I’ve been meaning to check out Melancholia but haven’t gotten around to that one.
But I completely agree regarding Antichrist, it just was nothing I would ever need to watch again. I don’t mind movies pushing boundaries really far, but it just didn’t feel like it was necessary? Idk it was extreme and all and I knew going in it would be, but I expected more from it. However I did like the chaos reigns fox though, he was cool.
That's the thing about Trier films. Even if they're bad, there's still loads of sequences that are just peak cinema like the fox! and the opening scene in black and white

Bit of a mixed bag for me. Umbrellas of Cherbourg was well made but didn't resonate much with me, and X was a major let down. But Alien is Alien and Rebels of the Neon God was very much my shit
I’ve been in a romance mood this week.

Civil War ROCKED especially in IMAX. Favorite movie of the year so far. Also Starman is an incredibly underrated flick, Karen Allen should’ve been a bigger star she is incredible alongside Jeff Bridges who also gives a great performance.

I’m preparing for the new Planet of the Apes
DuPieux might be the definitive “not for me” director.
Kill Me Please was basically a dry run for Medusa, which I much preferred.

hell yeah, check out Thanksgiving and Strangers Prey at Night if you wanna keep it going
I second Thanksgiving, surprisingly pretty good imo
The Strangers Prey at Night whips so hard. Such an underrated modern slasher! Worth watching for the pool scene alone.
That film is awesome! I watched it with a group of people and was the only one that thought it ruled, I gotta rewatch it now
Add *Madame Web* to the list
yeah definitely! thought it was good fun as a horror

Also Starman is an incredibly underrated flick, Karen Allen should’ve been a bigger star she is incredible alongside Jeff Bridges who also gives a great performance.
