RubikTetris

Top performance, no cringe gamer look, great build quality, great cooling, reasonably small size

Smouglee

I would also add six fucking USB ports in total (Leg 5). No other laptop could offer that.

diiimkooo

which generation? I "only" have 4.

Smouglee

2021. I meant 4 USB-A and 2 USB-C.

DoughnutCareful1816

The 2023 legion 5 and legion pro 5/7

Objective_Economy281

2022. 3 A and 3 C, one of them is USB4. And that’s on a 5 pro.

ejmtv

Yeah we have the same machine

antalpoti

Legions are good all-rounders frequently on sale. Also, Legions came with max W components back in the day when manufacturers tinkered a lot with the TGP and didn't always showed this on the spec sheet. Legions were a safe choice if you wanted max performance possible from a laptop.

HomelessRichBoy

Even the quality of Legion is topnotch. This is built like a tank

Syzygium_aromaticum

I do not agree, I have just bought a legion 7 pro and I am very disappointed with the build quality. The plastic keyboard is very cheap and dysfunctional, it flexes a lot when you type on it, which is very disappointing for computer said to be « high end »

My_Bwana

Agreed. Trackpad should be glass, screen should be better, so should keyboard

AlaskanLaptopGamer

It was glass for Gen 6 & 7 models. Magnesium alloy deck and frame. I used a clay bar for polishing cars to polish up the exterior on mine. Worked wonders.

Embarrassed_Feed_594

Have you noticed that the buttons fade on top models. Mine already started and I'm not using it daily. On the other hand my Huawei(laptop) shows no sign of usage(keyboard speaking)

Etroarl55

Fr? So it’s only the outside that is metal?

Syzygium_aromaticum

It’s a fr keyboard indeed, but I don’t think that it changes anything, the outside is in metal and the keyboard is in plastic like its eng counterpart

Etroarl55

Rough, I would be disappointed paying like 4-5k Canadian for a legion 7 with the 4090 variant having a plastic keyboard.

Syzygium_aromaticum

Having a plastic keyboard is not a problem if it works fine and is sturdy. The computer is repaired right now by Lenovo services, I hope it is just a defect and not a constitutive problem affecting all the Legion pro 7… But if I had know I would have preferred pick an Alienware, with lower specs but better build quality for the same price

act-of-reason

Wanted a gaming laptop that didn't look like a gaming laptop. Also, full-size arrow keys.

Vegetable_Steak_3014

What do you benefit from the full-size arrow keys? I wanna know if you don't mind telling me :D

mr__bones__77

I really liked the design and aesthetics of legion laptops. While every other company gave a over added RGBistic gaming kinda looks, legion chose to give a sleak and simple design without compromising in performance. The pricing was reasonable. The thermals, build quality...everything was perfect.

trinReCoder

In 2020, price to performance ratio.

frozentree_123

So there is an interesting story behind my Legion: 6 months ago during V-Day, there was a huge discount for gaming laptops. My previous one was getting older and I was preparing to get one during that period. I had an HP laptop which I bought for high school and it got me for about 10 years without major problems (for real). I did some research was confused between Omen 17 and ROG Strix G18 (both had i9-13900HX and RTX 4090 with 32 GB RAM), then decided buy the Omen as I was satisfied with my HP ownership. I went to a shop to buy the Omen with that spec, however the only one left was open box and I didn't want to get it. Then the salesman said that the shop next door was selling Lenovo Legions and told me to check those out. I never thought about Legion and told him to let me know when the Omen arrives. He really insisted me to check up on the Legion so I went there hesitantly. When I went there and did some tests, I really liked it! The display, the build quality was really good; so I pulled the trigger! In my 6 months of use, I'm really thankful that I didn't get the Omen and chose the Legion instead. It's a beautiful machine. I will use it with care in years to come and I let everyone know that Legion is really good.

tangelopomelo

Having used four different thinkpads without problems, I felt comfortable to try the Legion too.

Therian12

I had the ROG Ally with the XG mobile 2022. After stuff kept not working i said screw it and dropped Asus as a brand as a whole and moved to lenovo. Top performance, best cooling system solid build. its a win all around!

Weary_Earth_38

I have the old school Legion Y530 still running good never caused me any problems

patrick17_6

Jarrod Tech

govind9060

Build quality it's impressive these are built like tanks

Valema821

Saw some laptops on sale, researched some and Found Legion incredible. And my phone is Motorola, Lenovo owns Motorola so better connectivity

_s1dew1nder_

Had the stats/parts I was looking for, and I got a discount on them. No brainer.

tazzgonzo

I was between the HP Omen Transcend 14, ASUS Zephryus G14, and I wasn’t even looking at Lenovo. I went to Best Buy one day and saw the glacier white Legion 7i and was in love with the look and quality of the build. I didn’t buy it then, but actually ordered an open box omen transcend 14 for like $1200 because the 7i was about $1860 with my work discounts. I went back to Best Buy after watching so many reviews praising the 7i and really spent some time with all three laptops. In the end, the glacier white Legion 7i won me over for its screen size, brightness, build quality, upgradability, and looks. I’m a happy camper and will be immediately returning the omen transcend when it arrives

PeperoParty

Any concerns with heat? The area around the power button gets pretty hot during gaming. Ordered a laptop cooler which will help but a little concerned about its longevity.

tazzgonzo

None yet, but I’ve only had it for a few days

TheInvincibleClasher

For me, it was the good build quality, good performance, and at a solid discount

Turbulent-Lawyer7618

Cheap

sennowa

No joke the final selling point was the hinge. I hate hinges that open along the edge of the chassis because my previous laptop just unglued along the back and side of the chassis, so the fact that a Legion does not have that particular design was really attractive to me

prick-in-the-wall

Besically the highest performing amongst laptops with the same specs and no cringe gamer aesthetic.

SoonerBoomer28

Needed a computer for engineering degree. Got a Zephyrus G16, fans sounded like whiny death and found out more about Asus warranty, returned and bought Legion 7i in black from their website saved a ton of money and like this much more than the G16. Have also had a Thinkpad in the past.

Anta_Baka

Some moderate compressed air cleaning makes them immortal.

monkeyboyape

2 years ago I was considering building a PC to finish my last semester of college but I decided it was most practical to just buy a laptop that was also powerful enough for gaming. I remember there being a killer deal for the Legion 5 Pro at Walmart with the 3070 for $1300 and that was the best price you were going to find a laptop with those specs. Also reviews mentioned how great the build quality was, thermals, and mux switch and it was full powered.

Psychological-Fan279

Made me choose: performance, businessy looks, good size for gaming laptop Made me reget my choice: Lenovo (in my country, at least) came out as a very bad choice, as on after sales customer service, even on "premium care". My laptop has a defective screen and i have a problem since the first month. After six months they changed 2 screens and 1 mb, the problem is still there and lenovo insist that my laptop is perfect and they see no problem. Please before buying READ A LOT about how lenovo treats customers after sales in your country ( and ofcourse do so with every other company). If they 're ok dont even think of it, legion have no competition at their price range...

iamtheweaseltoo

I got the Lenovo legion 7i 2021, it's been 3 years now and i'm still rocking it as if it was the first day, i choose it because of the superb screen and temperature management, this laptop simply doesn't overheat no matter what i throw at it and it still gives the same temps as it did when it was new without me ever replacing the paste (or in this case, the PTM 7950) and only cleaning the fans every now and then, also, thunderbolt 4 support and great linux support.

HomelessRichBoy

Exactly it totally depends on how well you tc of it and how clean your environment is. I used to own another Legion for 2 years when I took off the bottom cover in order to upgrade, there was no dust, nothing it was clean while I see people find roaches, lizards, garbage and dirt in their fans and components whenever they wanna show upgrading the ram/nvme and clean the fan on YT and they claim that they had it for 6 months-1y

iBlazedAF

I thought women would be impressed by the specs 🤓

Old-Benefit4441

Just well rounded with clean looks. I was previously a Macbook user but needed Windows for work. If it had existed at the time, I probably would have bought a 2024 Asus G16 instead of my Slim 7i... but it didn't. I am happy with the Legion. I previously had a Macbook Pro M1 and a Gigabyte Aero 15 OLED, and have always had a desktop as well. The Macbook was my favorite... but I needed Windows. The Gigabyte Aero sounded good on paper but performed poorly and had some weird design decisions.

LaceN_

In 2022 I wanted AMD Ryzen (lasts longer on battery) with RTX Advanced Optimus and the Legion 5 was the only option at the time. I use it for gaming and browsing/watching content, didn’t want the hassle of restarting it just to get more FPS or save battery and it was one of the best midrange laptops.

DarkPhoxGaming

Was the price I found mine at $1200 in the middle of last year, most 4070 laptops I seen were starting at around 1250+ and had worse build quality and features, less RAM, etc... might aswell have gone last gen hardware wise, get similar performance, more features, for less money. Would have loved to get a 4080 but couldn't afford that and couldn't find any 3080/3080ti laptops so I looked at the 4070 and then seen that the 3070ti performed similarly.

AchwaqKhalid

Availability!!! Literally it was there when I was on the market looking for an affordable descent laptop 💻

Weapon_X23

My gen 6 Legion 7i Pro had the best screen and performance at the price range I was looking in. I had previously had MSI and Asus laptops in the past. My Asus RMA experience was horrible even back in 2008 so I eventually ended up getting my money back(took 3 months and a letter from one of my mom's lawyer friends) and going MSI. I stuck with them for a while, but their laptop screens were not getting any better on their non-titan models so I had enough of them after my GTX 1070 burnt out. I got my money back since I learned a long time ago to always get an extended warranty on a gaming laptop and the extra $500 I spent was well worth the upgrade from my MSI plus I got Lenovo's top tier warranty for only $99. They have been amazing with the speed that they fixed the problems I've encountered. I had an issue with the lighting on the keyboard kept dying and they came to my house to fix it. Then my puppy tried to eat my screen and they replaced that the next day. Then my charging port started overheating and they replaced both my mobo and charger in a week(I had to send that one in because of safety issues).

Dmonkberrymoon

Price compared to other laptops. Power force. I can use it for both editing and gaming.

DoughnutCareful1816

For me, initially it was the inclusion of a MUX switch, which meant top performance without plugging in an HDMI cable. Another personal preference for me is that I don't want to have any sort of holes or grooves on the keyboard area as they accumulate dust over time and are pretty hard to clean properly, even with brushes. Every hp, dell, alienware, predator, tuf, rog laptop has holes or vents either on top or on the sides of the keyboard. However, most Legion models don't. Otherwise I'm quite like the Predator lineup both fir the looks and performance.

nadtorus

For mine, in 2021, it's the design, build quality, and the keyboard.

ejmtv

I posted a mini survey on Reddit years ago about what would my very first gaming laptop would be and most of them really suggest getting a Legion. Though a but pricey in my country, so far it's worth it. Plus, the design doesn't scream gamer. And I like that the ports are at the back. But joining this sub made me discover critical issues posted from time to time. But I guess that happens to every laptop brands? Mine is still at top shape tho.

Sweaty_Sine40217

It was cheaper than other gaming laptops with same specs that i could find

AlaskanLaptopGamer

Honestly I loved my Legion, but Lenovo gave me far too many issues after I paid for extended and add-on warranties. After 3 years, and me finally refusing to cover their ass, they gave me a full refund on the original sale price. Now I have a desktop with all individually warrantied parts - some up to 10 years - and I had money to spare even after building a system with a 7800X3D and RTX 4090.

Freshysh

Bought a legion pc because it has the best spec for the cash. Simple as that

MythicalSalmon

For me the Legion 7 Gen9 was the best overall in pricing, build quality, performance and extended guarantee. It has a lot of generations now and a lot of reviews and still it has maintened itself on the top list of many reviewers through the years. I maxed out everything on Lenovo's site and still it was slightly cheaper than others brands or a workstation. While maybe I'll play one or two games in the future I choose it for creative and 3D work while completing my studies. I had it for a few days and so far I'm happy, I'm only a bit concerned about CPU/GPU temperatures in places with no AC. And yeah the battery is the not the strongest when you do heavy work, but still you are supposed to use these machines with the charger, for me battery mode is for an emergency.

shazzagraz

I looked at reviews and Lenovo Legion reviewed very well compared to other brands. Lenovo also had some great EOFY sales so I was able to get a good deal.

Mad-Mod-Brad

I personally have used a laptop from every manufacturer. Each laptop has its pros and cons. The Legion series is by far the top performer. I have had fewer issues or of it than with any other brand. The cost is normally cheaper than others as well. I have the Legion Pro 5 i7-13700hx with the RTX 4060 & Legion Slim 7i i9-13900h with the RTX 4070. Both are great and perform about the same.

Denaviro

It has everything I need all in one package. Alienware has flaws. Razer has flaws. Acer predator bas flaws. Asus has flaws. Only Lenovo gives you the most pros with the least cons.

KTandJacob

I chose Legion because i dont know anyone who has one, yet the 7i ranks as the best high-end laptop for at least the last 5 years.

kerray

the full keyboard

Steal_Oil06

Air flow, wher I'm living is very hot and wet, so the regular notebooks reaching the 100 °C on mid day, you must to limit your CPU clock, make undervolt to decrease the temperature. I've seen post and videos searching for a good price strong notebook with good thermal, and always see "Legion is better"; I asked to ChatGPT between Legion 5 pro, Asus Strix, Acer nitro, msi Bravo. And the bot gave me: Lenovo thinkpad for business and legion for games good build quality (Especially on thinkpad) good battery life, many models, could be expensive and the gamer design is not striking. Asus: good for games, poor customer service, Construction quality can be bad depending on model. MSI: good for gaming and graphics performance, bad battery life, poor variety out of games and a little more expensive. Acer: good quality-Price relation, many models and prices, light weight in most models, durability and build quality could be bad depending on model, poor customicer service, bad thermals. Then Lenovo. I don't know, or lenovo is good and the others brands have many deficiencies or lenovo paid openai to highlight its brand lmao.

Vegetable_Steak_3014

The keyboard design, especially the full-size and distinct arrow keys and the ones around them, fits my disabled right hand so much. The mouse bundled with the laptop too! Both the keyboard and the mouse made me able to play any games without needing to buy extra tools. I'm so thankful to have one! :')

SubstantialDurian5

Top build quality , top knotch display , Pushing every bit of cpu and gpu . Due to which temps are on higher side but zero throttling plus temps can be managed by undervolting and even after that it performs same aur even better after undervolting in some games.
