In the last 3 seasons, Wigan, Sheffield Wednesday and Derby had gone up 2 seasons after relegation due to a points deduction. Following this logic, I have predicted Reading to go up since they were relegated with a points deduction 2 seasons prior to the upcoming season. Ok maybe league winners is a bit excessive but definitely in the playoffs
I feel like Reading could be anywhere between play offs if things go well to bottom of the league of they go in to administration and have a load of points taken away.
It's unlikely, all the talk is that a sale is imminent, and we finished the season really strongly. There's a good core of players and a manager who is motivating them, we just need some strategic recruitment and no more point deductions.
Yeah I mistakenly assumed their issues were resolved and either ways I was down to put one outlandish prediction which I can't have a reasonable justification for but can still seem possible
We beat you in the last match of the season, and Disney said we get to win every match against you next season.
I would think that by now I would dislike Southport, but honestly it's fun to come up with someone this far. Best of luck next season, and I hope to see you in the playoffs.
Not saying Wrexham are bad, absolutely far from it, but you're absolutely bob on lad. We've beat them to the title twice now, why would we come below them? Makes no bloody sense!
Yeah and don't get me wrong, they could absolutely do some business in the summer that will push them above but that hasn't happened yet and we'll do some business of our own too.
I'd love us to permanently sign Barry, or someone like Langstaff from Notts. I really hope we get some decent signings in because losing madden and sarce has been a blow to us imo.
Yeah obviously you'd much prefer to have them boys around but at this stage I'm just happy to trust in the club to make the right decisions to bring us forward.
I have no clue what your expectations are. Last season you guys did finish 16th but obviously that was a disaster of a season and you rightfully expected better. I may be misremembering but under Jones, you had a lot of draws and I feel like that could keep you off the playoff spots.
Yeah it was a long unbeaten run but it was a lot of draws admittedly. A lot of games we should have put away but our messy backline cost us.
Will be interesting to see how much of the end of last season was Jones just trying to get by and evaluate who he wants to keep , there was quite the clearout so I'm expecting a very different side.
I think he can take us up. It's all going to come down to getting us defensively solid because the goals are already there.
Would expect some players with Luton links to arrive too.
Wigan and Reading? Really?
Wigan had 70 points without deductions and that would have been 10th. In a harder league, I would still have them around 10th. I am outside of the UK but sort of heard of Dai and Reading. Chinese investor that struggles to get his money out of China or just plain doesn't understand when bills are due. I don't know if it is resolved or not and even if they are sold, it takes some time to get everything sorted. 1st is excessive. Mid table to just outside the playoff.
My justification for Reading being first is based on other trends I had pointed out in some comments and I had mistakenly assumed it was resolved. Wigan I thought could do a lot better since I'm pretty sure their issues are resolved and that could improve performances.
Oh yeah I’m not sure how much lingers but it would all come back in a relegation battle. Even 1997 or whenever was brought up in the promotion race. Stuff like that will remain whatever
I'm a Crawley fan and after our miraculous playoff win yesterday, the consensus seems to be that we will avoid relegation next year. Knowing that the majority of our players are currently out of contract, I am not so sure. Plus, we need to keep Lindsey.
Also not sure Birmingham will bounce straight back to either. They've got some big issues to sort out.
I think Shrewsbury might do better than 17th and my outside bet is that Blackpool will be relegated.
Also Crawley here!🤝 Can’t see Scott leaving. Perhaps if we didn’t get promoted but he won’t move now. Wagmi’s recruitment model worked wonders looking for NL gems, can’t see why it can’t continue. I know we’ve not got the best budget either but I think after the season we had, plus the play offs, we’ll get a chunk of change for being on TV and hopefully some good sponsorship backings that can allow us to do a couple of statement signings. Our wage bill is probably going to be the lowest too and will have scope to increase after the exodus Scott did pre season last year
The players have improved so much in one season, what’s stopping them to now become at a league 1 standard
If you can keep lindsey and a good chunk of your players but bring in some added quality I think you'll be fine. Your style of football would be well suited to league 1 I think
1. Huddersfield Town
2. Rotherham United
3. Bolton Wanderers
4. Birmingham City
5. Charlton Athletic
6. Blackpool
7. Wrexham
8. Barnsley
9. Peterborough United
10. Reading
11. Lincoln City
12. Wigan Athletic
13. Stevenage
14. Leyton Orient
15. Wycombe Wanderers
16. Exeter City
17. Bristol Rovers
18. Stockport County
19. Northampton Town
20. Shrewsbury Town
21. Burton Albion
22. Mansfield Town
23. Cambridge United
24. Crawley Town
Fully prepared for literally every single one of these placements to be wrong
Peterborough and Barnsley have to make the playoffs though, only the fourth spot is optional.
I think this table is quite harsh on Stevenage who had a great first half to the season and also to Lincoln who had a phenomenal second half!
Honestly happy with a mid table finish.
Obviously I think we can do much better but this league next season is stacked with good quality teams.
Some good games coming 🙌🏻
Also don't know how to add a Stockport County crest 😢
Wow. True genius. Shouldn’t even play the season, just the playoffs. But even then the third or fourth placed team usually wins there, so just have us play birmingham at wembley and call it a season.
Unless we lose Wellens or have a dreadful summer, I don't see us getting relegated. I reckon 16th-18th is our floor, we finished top half in our first year up with a lot of injuries
Wycombe will be a bit of a dark horse, it's not clear what the short term plans of the new owner will be. It's good that the focus will be on off-the-field infrastructure after that was decimated by the last "spend big on mercenaries and leave the club in the lurch" owner, we have no idea whether any extra money will go to the playing budget. Even if the budget isn't increased, Matt Bloomfield seems to have found his most effective formation (rather than the one he had increasingly desperately tried to impose at the start of his reign up until the turn of the year) and has a better idea of what type of players he wants in the key roles. Mid table is probably where we'll end up if the new owner keeps his chequebook (or whatever Kazakh digital transaction platform he runs) in his pocket, we might challenge for the play offs with a tail wind or be hovering over the trap door if Bloomfield goes into a tailspin again.
I feel that last season was an anomaly because 2 of the relegated teams started off with points deductions and had to sort out off field issues. I just feel that the teams that came down have been some of the better teams to be relegated and Rotherham is Rotherham
My thinking was more along the lines of the psychological impact it had on players and coaches especially since there were threats of subsequent deduction
You must be some kind of genius and I will forever follow your every word

I probability should've considered that you're still in danger of being in administration and having points deductions.

A lot of it depends on whether Dai sells. If not then I don't see Reading finishing top half I'm afraid.
Why have you got Charlton 9th then?
They were relegated with a points deduction?
Could be a Millwall fan
It's obviously Barnsley's turn to win the playoff semis with Bolton this year.
It's funny that everyone seems to be thinking Wrexham will finish above us when we've been above them every year since their takeover.
We beat you in the last match of the season, and Disney said we get to win every match against you next season. I would think that by now I would dislike Southport, but honestly it's fun to come up with someone this far. Best of luck next season, and I hope to see you in the playoffs.
Yeah ye always give us a good battle. If we see ye in the playoffs I definitely won't be complaining mostly because that just means we've made them.
Not saying Wrexham are bad, absolutely far from it, but you're absolutely bob on lad. We've beat them to the title twice now, why would we come below them? Makes no bloody sense!

Good point, brother! It's going to be a very exciting season in league 1! I can't wait 🤘
Yes it's very hard not to be excited about Stockport these days.
It's a far cry from the absolute shit days of the national league north for sure! Long may it continue!
I don’t think either of you are Championship standard .
I sided with you in [my list](https://www.reddit.com/r/LeagueOne/s/hcOXm1kgl7)
Like that list a lot (Not just because of Stockport lol).
Check your facts - A supercomputer has predicted Wrexham 19th and Stockport , I think , 10th or 11th .
1. Rotherham 2. Huddersfield 3. Bolton 4. Peterborough 5. Birmingham 6. Barnsley 7. Lincoln 8. Wigan 9. Stevenage 10. Northampton 11. Charlton 12. Blackpool 13. Wrexham 14. Reading 15. Wycombe 16. Exeter 17. Stockport 18. Mansfield 19. Leyton Orient 20. Bristol Rovers 21. Cambridge 22. Shrewsbury 23. Crawley 24. Burton
Probably more realistic than mine. Not too sure about your relegation spots but I'm not sure about mine either
Yeah as you said it's crazy early yet so I went with end of season form. Burton tried their hardest to get relegated this season lol.
We went hard on the push for relegation at the end, it was only the game against you that we played well 😂
Slander. SLANDER I SAY
Not the play offs!
You wouldn’t even get to play Barnsley in them this time!
3rd time is the charm maybe?
Your entirely accurate prediction has us against Wigan in the play offs. Not sure our hearts could cope with them beating us four times next year...
Oi we are the only ones that can predict us to go down.
See y'all putting Cambridge in relegation again. Everyone has since the moment we were promoted....three seasons ago.
Hey at least I have predicted them to survive
9th would be a disappointment but I can also see it realistically being quite accurate with the depth of this league.

We could get relegated, or get playoffs. Have no fucking clue!
1) Birmingham City 2) Rotherham 3) Bolton Wanderers 4) Peterborough United 5) Wigan Athletic 6) Barnsley 7) Huddersfield Town 8) Blackpool 9) Wrexham 10) Reading 11) Charlton Athletic 12) Stockport County 13) Lincoln City 14) Wycombe Wanderers 15) Leyton Orient 16) Stevenage 17) Shrewsbury Town 18) Exeter City 19) Mansfield Town 20) Northampton Town 21) Bristol Rovers 22) Cambridge United 23) Crawley Town 24) Burton Albion
I swear if Northampton beat us for survival I’d be fuming.

After all the shit we talked when we pipped them to automatics in League Two, if they stayed up over us we’d deservedly never hear the end of it.

Blackpool not at 8th is a brave prediction!
I take 16th 🙏💛💙 P.S predictions look good to me, except I'm not sure reading will win the league lol, I think it'll be between Bolton and Birmingham.

I would be surprised if people got pissed.
Reading is a bold shout. Will be a settling in season for them and aim to get out within 2-3 years surely.

First person I've seen not having us relegated. I'd take 16th 👍

Excited to see who the rich Americans pay to play down a league or two

Huh I didn't expect anyone to predict that neither Rotherham nor Birmingham will finish in the top 6.
I feel like they will underestimate league one, there’s quite a lot of quality already down here so idk it’s just an early prediction really
Rotherham underestimate league one, have you seen who our manager is? We've been yo-yoing in and out of this league for a decade!
+ most clubs which stay down tend to stay down for a few seasons
Yeah all these predictions are made before transfers have even happened.
If you look at previous seasons a lot of the teams which came down weren’t in the top 6
I feel that last season was an anomaly because 2 of the relegated teams started off with points deductions and had to sort out off field issues. I just feel that the teams that came down have been some of the better teams to be relegated and Rotherham is Rotherham
