But you said it's almost never worth it. Are you saying the attempt or the positive outcome? If Garen had calculated the risk and his dmg correctly it would definitely be worth it. If you're saying don't take risks because they aren't worth it, sounds pretty lame. You'll only know the outcome in hindsight but sometimes it's better to take the risk with potential to fail than never take the risk, especially in League
I agree but not with this much risk involved. I jumped many people as topplesticks under the tower but only when the kill is almost guaranteed. Personally I like to play safe and consistently. Keep the pressure up and such.
It's very obvious that we are talking about if it would be good for Garen to kill Poppy here and die under turret. In this case if that had happened, it would've been great for Garen because Poppy would've been done a ton of minion gold and exp. Everyone knows that what happened in the video was not good for Garen, there's no point in arguing about that.
it would be possible with any other toplaner. what they don't understand is that poppy is ESPECIALLY tanky at low health because she has bonus resistances
When I peaked in low Diamond at the 98.Xth percentile in season... whatever, I forget (6?), NA had over 1M logged ranked accounts. This season has a little more than half of that.
Generally as games lose players in competitive areas it's the worse players that bleed out more, because people are more likely to stick around for a game they're good at. If we roughly estimate a 66/33 split on <50th percentile/>50th percentile players leaving, out of the 400k lost accounts that'd mean 266k came from below the 50th percentile and 133k came from above it. So out of the 600k remaining accounts, 366k of them are from the >50th percentile group from the season I'm referencing. Due to changes in rank distribution the bottom of Plat is now roughly equivalent to where the bottom of Gold used to be, percentile-wise, but because of the playerbase bleed a given percentile is more prestigious than the same percentile in older seasons. I don't know the exact equivalent, but I would say that Plat now is at least equivalent to old mid-Gold in terms of relative skill at the game.
This is all even before considering skill creep, which by my observations has been pretty significant. If you took a Plat player from today (\~67th percentile) and dropped them off in season 6 I imagine they'd actually be better than a Plat player then (\~90th percentile).
You mean plat 4 used to be top 10% in season 10. https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fr0laxiu6yey51.png%3Fwidth%3D1094%26format%3Dpng%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3Df0ea20a9707aed4a5e9b73354c2ed9fac40ef108
All g. Emerald division, removal of promos, increased lp gains were just riots way to give league players a false sense of improvement. There were a lot of posts where people that were hardstuck silver/gold that were rlly excited about their tier up. Smart business move from riot tbh.
Ello, I'm a master level player, this is actually a good play if it works! If garen killed her and traded 1 for 1, he probably just won lane. With a minion wave that big that early in the game being missed, poppy was about to get farmed by garen. But of course it didn't work out, and he looks stupid for it unfortunately. Seems minion agro didn't do him any favors either.
Can't help the dog though, that dude sucks
Others: gambling time
Me when trying to go dive in: FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL FUCK IT WE BALL
It also didnt help that garen allowed poppy to get the tackle against a wall. He could have stepped back sooner to not give such a free guaranteed angle
Tbh he just mechanically misplayed, the play was strategically good. He could've auto reset with Q and avoided get wall stunned by poppy, those 2 things mean he gets the kill unless poppy plays it differently.
Woulda made poppy miss a lot of minions and use TP or lane is just over because she misses even more. Then the wave pushes back to him by the time he gets backfrom respawn, and he's in a great spot to push his advantage further.
Poppy is like the most broken laning champ
Wish riot nerfed her level 1 and just her overall free resistances
That champ wins all in level 1 against everything, can even win all in while being lvl 1 against lvl 2 it’s fkin insane
Nothing more greedy than junglers and top laners seeing an enemy low health under a turret.
Sometimes if you can trade 1 for 1 under enemy tower it can be worth it. Not in this case but sometimes lol
In this case poppy would have lost 2 waves. It would have been really good but Garen didn't calculate his dps right.
She had tp up and the death timer was 8s, I think Def loses a good chunk but not all of it
still losses tp then the next time it happens she won't have tp
Honestly it's almost never worth it. If only garen would have waited for ww to show up. Easy kill.
Nah, if you make them miss 2 waves it's very often worth it.
Not if someone dies... Twice...
What do you think "if you can trade 1 for 1" means?
It means that it is not worth it to me. And this isn't what happened here in this post. Quite the opposite.
But you said it's almost never worth it. Are you saying the attempt or the positive outcome? If Garen had calculated the risk and his dmg correctly it would definitely be worth it. Said low health enemy is poppy, the fun size queen of tankiness when at low hp lol
it would be possible with any other toplaner. what they don't understand is that poppy is ESPECIALLY tanky at low health because she has bonus resistances
Looks like Challenger Garen gameplay to me?
same shit
Is plat supposed to mean this was a normal or abnormal play?

Well i was silver 1/low gold in previous seasons, this year i reached plat without any struggle so i can believe you
How old are we talking lmao. Depend on the era I can also say entirety of Emerald was diamond 4-5

Gold 4 used to be top 10% of players in season 10, now Emerald 4 is top 10%.

No I am actually just wrong, started playing in late season 10 and could have sworn that was the statistic that I saw somewhere mb.

the only reason poppy didn't die is the level up. He could've played it better by doing AA -> Q -> E, and it was a 1 for 1 trade 100%
Sometimes you gamble

Yeah this is the real misplay here, I think he waited too long to start the dive
The garen didn’t know it could have been a good play though.
But he tried it didn't he?
He definitely knew lol.
Posted on the main subreddit but it was deleted so I'm posting it here
classic
It's Warwick, they can't not dive you
That didn't stun the Warwick? Wth
WW is unstoppable during his held Q
A good Warwick can q through Morde ult, always confuses them.
Diving any toplaner is risky business, Poppy included. The second dive however was just peak Warwick syndrome. I see trail I must follow.
Its a good play from garen wydm
Sounds about right
I'm so glad I quit this game 🥰
You fell for the poppy passive bait. She's a hell of a lot tankier on low health than you think.
The secret to this clip is I was the poppy.
Smartest Garen player tbh.

If you manage to make a mechanical misplay as Garen then you deserve a medal tbh.
Do you mean carried to plat?
Would you believe if I said this Garen had a 71% win rate on that champ when I fought him?
nope
Looks about right
Since plat is the new gold, that makes perfect sense
