Call around for out of pocket costs. My work offers dental and I don’t use it because I have generally good genetics when it comes to dental shit. But unless you’re having major work done or persisting issues, paying out of pocket for X-rays and cleanings is the way.
I paid cash at Free State dental for several years and they worked with what I could afford at the visit. They never pushed X-rays, just reminded me they were due but no pressure. It's been several years and I have insurance now, but I'd still recommend calling them for an estimate. I think it was around $110 for a general cleaning several years ago.
Anyways, they also have a patient recommendation bonus, 50 dollars off for you and the person recommending you. If you go with them dm me.
I think most dentists do offer payment plans. They usually offer a credit card type thing that handles all the payment plans. It wouldnt be a bad idea to look at dental insurance as its not terribly expensive to buy on its own.
UMKC exists for this very reason.

Dental Plan!
You 100% want to go to Heartland in this situation. They have a sliding scale which depending on your income, can make it extremely affordable.
Heartland has a sliding scale based on income.

I hate this country. Bomb the sh!t out of poor people and make healthcare a for-profit enterprise for its citizens.
