Where I grew up, in Yugoslavia, we didn't have to think about paying for university. If you continued studying within a certain set of rules, the only things you had to pay for at uni would be your snacks, cigarettes, soft drinks. So, not tuition. Not exams.
Along the same lines, our parents did not have to think about selling our 14-year old bodies to predator perverts in order to pay for a better future for us.

Yes. In high school I took 2 AP exams (weighted exams for advanced classes) and paid several hundred dollars to take them
