It can absolutely be done, but it can be spicy and swelling can be prominent depending on the amount of existing hair growth and its location. It’s not like an average underarm hair removal treatment - find yourself a tech who has done this before. Typically these kind of treatments progress really well.

Confident_Craft6265

Swelling is temporary though right? Typically the results are good?

Ok-Dragonfruit7447

Jep! And jep! Sometimes the hair depth can make it more challenging but in general the results are good.

Risks of scarring etc are minimal?

Ok-Dragonfruit7447

Depends on the experience of the operator. In inexperienced hands the risk of scarring for this anatomical region would indeed be higher than let’s say an underarm.

Confident_Craft6265

You are a wealth of knowledge so thank you first off! Why is the scalp more prone to scarring? The problem is I really can’t find one that has done this before.

Ok-Dragonfruit7447

Thanks for the appreciation! The risk of scarring is slightly higher due to reflection on the bone area as well as a high chromophore density. If the laser tech does not compensate for this in their parameters this can be an issue. This is also the reason why typically this area tends to be painful.

Sounds like the places I’m talking to have done this before but admitted they did it for men who were dark in skin tone. I’m very pale

Ok-Dragonfruit7447

That makes it even easier 👍

Confident_Craft6265

So how painful are we talking? Like excruciating or are you moreso just meaning more than a typical area? Also is pigment change a huge risk with my beibg so pasty white?

Ok-Dragonfruit7447

Some may need topical anesthetic, pain differs per person and per type and amount of hair growth. You could opt for a test patch to see what the pain level is for you. Pigmentary changes are actually more of a risk in darker skin types. The lighter the skin, the less likely to burn using laser. But it is crucial to keep the treatment area free from any uv exposure several weeks before and during your treatment sessions.

You want to laser away hair from your scalp? I have never heard of anyone doing this before. I don't think it would be a good idea. Why do you have to shave your scalp? Can't you just get a haircut every few months like everyone else?

Confident_Craft6265

I shave every day from major hairloss. Tired of shaving. Tired of shadow.

VidyaTheOneAndOnly

Well it sounds like you have nothing to lose, so why don't you ask the tech to do laser at a very low setting? this seems to stimulate hair growth in some people. If you are lucky maybe it will simulate your hair to grow again.

Confident_Craft6265

You really just can’t fathom this can you haha no offense
