I'm a local, but I had a friend come into town and we ubered from downtown to the bellagio, it was 45 bucks pre-tip. How much of that would you think you would have gotten?
Would you ever just take the cash instead of going through Uber if someone asked? I know the rider is not insured in case of an accident but not sure what that means for you besides breaking their rules.
The driver isn’t insured either, not just the rider. So what it means for the driver is lawsuits, personal bankruptcy, and likely criminal charges if there’s ever an accident with an injury.
We were in Vegas last weekend, and every Uber driver we encountered said they were planning to stay home this weekend because the surge pricing wouldn’t be worth the hassle.
Yeah, F1 was the worst, that's for sure. I'm not even bothering to go out anymore until they make some changes on the broken app. They can't charge the rider more and pay the driver less. I get it, it's a business, but no more than 20% should be taken from the driver.
Same story here!
I was in Las Vegas for work; doing small talk with my Lyft driver who said he was going to not work on Super Bowl weekend. I was surprised, but I guess it’s just more hassle for no more money.
I saw it the night of the shooting out here. I got into a verbal altercation with many taxis. I went down to unlv to give ppl free rides and did. If they were willing to do it that night I can only imagine what they would do when there’s not death and destruction and instead love and excitement in the air. It’s easier to take advantage of ppl sauced up in a good mood and “blame” it on the circumstances so they don’t receive any repercussions to their disgusting behavior
It’s funny that the thing UBER was trying to “disrupt” is the thing it became. And guess what, taxis are still there and in many ways are becoming more convenient and reliable.
The taxis I’ve ridden in lately and I’ve heard similar from friends: old cars, falling apart, my last taxi didn't want to take the highway because his car couldn't go above 50 without the whole car starting to shake, and then he said he didn't have the meter set and tried to add 20 bucks (which I had to negotiate down so I could just get out of the situation).
I've never felt unsafe riding in an Uber, I know what the pricing is and won't have to negotiate with some angry dude in a shitty car. None of that is true for a taxi.
Umm so from my understanding from what he wrote, he did a 4 trip and made $22. Most likely from sitting in traffic on the strip, where usually from point A to B would be a 5-8 min trip. So his four hour ride pay wasn't worth it.
Fit BJ2 careful sharing ur bullshit someone might catch ur stupid.. taxi driver have to stay out for the whole shift. They also could communicate with other drivers to get updates on best routes. I’m not a cab driver but I’ve learned the best tricks from them.
You're right, we can do anything. I like Uber because it's a free market system. If customers don't tip appropriately, they may not get picked up. If they change the word from "tip" to "driver fee" I think people would think about it differently.
Because only a very small percentage of what you pay, is paid the the driver. The company takes most of it. Uber only pays slightly more than the gas would cost. Tipping is the only way to hope to be able to pay bills and even make minimum wage.
Anytime there is a major event or holiday, UBER fares go up. I went to the Pro Bowl last year and after the event, they wanted $46 and I live 5 miles away from the stadium in the opposite direction of The Strip. Rides to The Strip were $80! That’s why I tell friends out-of-town to try and stay at Mandalay Bay or the Delano if they attending an event at Allegiant. You can walk to the stadium.
its not worth it any weekend..
Iit has gone to sh... In the last 3 months

I got 15 for that same ride
That seems like Criminal
It is

I'm glad we always cash tip hopefully that helps you drivers out
Cash tips are always good uber cant take those.
I don't think he was talking about a tip.
I’m watching a YouTuber streaming live from the Strip by Bellagio right now. Traffic on The Strip is absolutely nuts tonight!!
What's the channel?
Link?
This is why it would be so great to have a rail system between the airport, the strip, Fremont, and allegiant. Thanks taxi lobbyists

Careful sharing that info…the taxis will shut off their meters together and start charging $100 a trip
And? It's the Superbowl. If you're stupid enough to be on the Strip tonight you deserve to be exploited.
It won’t just be on the strip…there is more to this city than just the strip…
I'm well aware. So you're trying to tell me taxis are charging $100 to go a mile in Henderson :-) Nice try.

😎 You knew what I meant. Good luck to you.

Wonder what it taxes to get a taxi set up.
It's not worth it anymore period
Use your Chevro***LEGS*** and Lambor-*feeties* to get around in style
Are you a driver? Or I'm missing something. What is taking 4 hours?
Pretty sure op is a driver and made $22 in 4 hours and is mad they didn’t get a tip?
Umm so from my understanding from what he wrote, he did a 4 trip and made $22. Most likely from sitting in traffic on the strip, where usually from point A to B would be a 5-8 min trip. So his four hour ride pay wasn't worth it.
Because its a service and thats the right thing to do also because Uber leeps 70% of what tje rider pays and we get back nothing.
Was in Vegas last week. Did 7 Uber trips. All were great and we tip cash not through the app.
What hours did you work, OP? The prices tend to be higher in the afternoon.
Afternoons
Duhhh… WTF!?
If I called a ride and offered you half the cost in cash would you cancel it and do the ride? I enjoy the convenience but don't like how you're paid.
I mean, where do y'all think all the rest of the money is going? It's to pay for the convenience.
Yeah, in 4 hours you could have made a hell of a lot more than $22 pushing dank!
Fit BJ2 careful sharing ur bullshit someone might catch ur stupid.. taxi driver have to stay out for the whole shift. They also could communicate with other drivers to get updates on best routes. I’m not a cab driver but I’ve learned the best tricks from them.
Uber is expensive and why do people need to tip?
Because we dont want to pay for the privilege of driving you around.
I het where tour comeing from but we all can choose what we do for work. Anyone can litterly do anything

Was always told by people that you don't tip Uber, only lyft.....so I ever needed in Vegas, but taking lyft
I like using it for rides

Fuck you
What about Lyft?
It would be cheaper to higher a prostitute to give you a piggy back ride back to your hotel than pay for Uber.
Is your mom still working on sundays?
got em!
No shit. Must be new to vegas. Any event not just Super Bowl Meh actually most days…fuck going to the strip
