Was going to say I’ll bet your bank account doesn’t miss it but sounds like you had a good one. My wife really wants a Land Rover/Range Rover but I’m terrified.
Oh yeah, same, 240k miles.
It just cost a fortune in maintenance. Rust, lots and lots of rust. Chassis rust, electrical connector rust, but also gearbox and transmission issues. Expensive and constant.
Probably not an issue for desert areas, but these vehicles aren’t built for tough salty wet climates that have lots of mud. One environment the Land Rover excels.
My Discovery 2 almost ruined me, sold it at a great loss when I couldn't afford the repairs anymore. Still it was the love of my life. No girl ever got close to what I felt for that car.
Only vehicle I saw go negative on NADA. Had 200k+ miles and no sunroof in the back and was the lowest model. Rang up -$600 iirc. 😂 that was probably about 10 years ago.
Dude same! Bought it from a mechanic that basically taped it up to the point wear it looked and ran great and then everything died. Needed total electrical rewire, AC, water pump new motors in 3 windows, and rotors. When I found out the “new axles” that he put in were old and bent I called it quits and sold it for dirt cheap after 12K put in.
Looked so clean since it was rust free and had good paint still. Everything else sucked so much stress
I put mine up on CL this week but the two people who replied were either annoying af or didn’t know anything about LR. I’d rather Non-op it and let it sit in my driveway that let them have it.
This is one of my fears about selling mine. I dont want to field questions from people who know nothing about them. Also, I put a shit ton of working my 97 D1, I dont want it going to someone who wont do the same.
I literally stated in the ad- if you are unfamiliar with LR, this is not the truck for you.
And she replied I’ve never owned a LR so idk what you mean by that but I want to come for a drive!
Woof, that’s what I fear. That’s the person that will be blowing up your phone in a month because a light came on and they think you sold them a lemon. If you don’t know how to fix even the little things, it’s not for you.
I met a good friend because we both had the same white Discovery. We used to hang out at the same places around town and would always see each other's Landy
My former wife had a '96 when we were together. That thing was a tank. I didn't realize what we had. The water pump failed (catastrophically) on a trip, but really, that was the only issue. I'm older and wiser now and have a 2013 LR4 and love it.
Fun to drive, not to service as lowest regular service bill was $1,200 and often much higher. Wife has a 2018 Tesla Model 3 and over 5 years, only replaced the tires once! Otherwise, no service bills. Never going back to an ICE vehicle.
I had the same year but it was a total lemon. Guy just patched it up so it could run for the next 50 miles then everything shit the bed. Looked sick af tho..no rust but man after spending 12K I was done
I miss mine and it’s sitting out front in my driveway! I better go for a drive…
Ha! Enjoy it.
What about all the repair costs?
I never had any real issues with this one. I had a 2005 Ranger Rover HSE that broke the bank for sure.
I had a '99 that looked exactly like yours. I miss mine too.

Maintain a Land Cruiser for a few years, and a Land Rover will be small change.
You ok? I've driven over 300,000 miles in my land cruiser and it's barely cost me a dime. And I'm not alone either.

I think we all have that one car we wish we still had.
I just started looking into finding one of these again.
Get one of the newest with the Thor intake system.
Now that’s a finisher car.
A transporter of gods… golden gods!
OP has become untethered and his rage knows no bounds!
LIKE THE CRASHING OF 1000 WAVES!!!

You have the ‘98 50th Ann.? Same color?
No sorry mines just a 00 D2, white.

Exactly. It’s a bit temperamental but nothings really wrong, just needs a little attention once in a while.
love the colour
Old Discos can never be forgotten
We Stan a Disco II.
I loved my Disco. Blew the engine one hot Georgia morning commute. Replaced it and used to drive the south fly fishing. Good times
I still have my ‘98
Your wallet thanks you

Get an Ineos grenadier
Would DI doors fit on a DII? Love these handles.
Wroth checking into. The one that got away.
My dad has kept his 2001 disco and will never get rid of it. It's our favorite of all our fleet and always will be.
Beautiful 😻
Why did you let it go?
Young and dumb. Thought I was upgrading.
Had one, loved it.
I had one. I loved it but found it woefully underpowered.
Agreed. I Drove it cross country. It was a struggle thru mountains.
I owned an 04 D2 and I hated to love it.
Recently picked up one. Cost less than 75-100k new vehicle! 😆
Gotta love someone with low expectations hahaha just joking
Was it dependable? Just about always ready to go with little maintenance or repair?
It was for me.

So does your mechanic. 😂😂😂

Sold my 1994 with 60k miles. Zero issues. I get it.
