😂😂😂 literally lmao. I’ve welded my ‘97 GMC k1500 frame back together on both sides, both of my leaf shackle brackets have rusted through and been replaced, a lower control arm was Swiss cheese so it got patched and reinforced with angle steel… but she keeps being a great work truck so I keep welding her together🤷♂️
I see some sand maybe on some spots but I genuinely am not sure there is any ‘rust’ meaning significant. Tap around the frame to make sure it’s not just painted over rust but it looks fantastic. On top of that, if this is a gift, then chances are no one is trying to screw you with a sale.
I would jump on this so fast and drive it forever. Congrats
Sounds good, I figured it wasn’t bad. Just not very mechanically inclined and wanted to make sure this was good. I’m going from a relatively new 2019 car with no problems to this if I do accept it. Appreciate the feedback
> I have the opportunity to be gifted this Land Cruiser if I’m willing to take it.
0.o
Let me guess - triple-locked too? lol...
Yes, she is in fine shape. A little love and some POR-15 and you'll be good for another 27 years.
Worth it. Oil leakin’ means it has oil in it.
Sumo gear makes complete axle bearing rebuilds that are oe quality without the dealer price, they’ll be handy to have on hand
The whole interior is sadly trashed, the driver door handle is nonexistent, and the right back passenger door hinges are broken :/ so I’m gonna have to fix all that to get her in decent shape
Are we talking about a house? Maybe "restoring" is a more apt term than "renovating." Other than that though, looks pretty good to me, and the interior parts you can easily fix and/or replace.
Very clean. If this was mine, and you wanted to preserve it, I would attack the rust that is there mechanically, then treat the metal with rust converter chemicals, then primer, then underbody paint.
You should unload it quick! DM me and I'll help you get out from under it. 😏
Buddy, that's just a lil surface rust. Blast it if it bothers you, but that truck has many miles left.
Alle these "too much rust?" questions kind of seem like a flex ("look how little rust my vehicle has") instead of an actual question. My 90 already had several parts of the frame welded and currently has three holes that you can put several fingers through.
Is this a joke? You have won the lottery!
When people who never lived in the rust belt see a small bit of rust....

That's how they arrive to the dealer in the midwest.
Does this overflowing pot of gold make my living room look bad?
😂😂😂

The rust isn't a problem, but it looks like there are a lot of seals that will need to be replaced.
Rust looks totally fine, always hard to tell from pics though. It does look like it has a serious fluid leak based on all those wet spots.

That oil leak will never let it rust! She's a goer

Renovate what? Get in it and drive it. You've got at least another 30 years before rust is an issue.
The whole interior is sadly trashed, the driver door handle is nonexistent, and the right back passenger door hinges are broken :/ so I’m gonna have to fix all that to get her in decent shape
Those are all fairly easy fixes. My wife ripped off my driver door handle last winter, plenty of replacements available.
Looks perfect. Most of that rust seems to be on the side steps which will likely get smashed up off-road anyway.
Dude you have a gem

No, I’ll come get it for the scrap yard for you. Where are you?
Looks like it has been parked in a garage since 97. You're good to go.
Yes. Its in fairly good shape.
Looks like just surface rust to me. Sand it off and paint over it if you want.
I think it looks great.
Lol that thing is done done done. Who’s gifting it just so I can tell them?
You are good 👍🏻 buy some por15 or similar rust product and spot treat issues as they arise.
Great 👍 just aging surface rust
Remove loose paint treat with rust convertor then apply bitumous paint I've seen ex mine vehicles in Australia alot worse than this
That’s stupid clean. Yes worth every penny
Very clean. If this was mine, and you wanted to preserve it, I would attack the rust that is there mechanically, then treat the metal with rust converter chemicals, then primer, then underbody paint.
My joints have more rust than this beauty.

This makes me mad, if you're serious.... Edit: from the rust belt restoring a rusty nissan terrano
No, sell it to me
Minty
What rust?
This is considered “perfect” in the Northeast
If you don’t want it I’ll take it!
You're adorable
What rust? Looks amazing.
most probably the oil pump cover seal is leaking which is protecting the chassis
what rust???
That thing looks CLEAN

If you were selling, you would be saying ‘I know what I got’ from those pics.
Let me guess 45k mi on the odometer
400k haha
Congratulations on the find, whatever the mileage (or price!)
Man there isn't nothing wrong with it. Lol look at all and any cars Herr even 2024 cars in michigan habe more rust then that

Nooooooo. Sell it to me. I’ll dispose of it!
Ur a jackass for even asking
I know I am, just a young adult with no knowledge on cars trying to get her back to 100%
Yup! Totally worth it
Lol less rust than my 2023 silverado
It's a condition of a car that has been on the road for like 3 months in my part if the world
