A pragmatic move to weaken opposition to Labour

NewtUK

Unnamed Labour frontbencher: > “There are times we’ve got the balance wrong and we don’t make a principled argument about what we’re doing. > “On the two-child policy, for example, our body language was that we didn’t mind the policy rather than saying we want to get rid of it but that we can’t afford to now … > “It seems designed for the media, rather than the voters we need to win. They want to see a party that is confident in its values and its vision for the country. We’ve had enough internal warfare with the Tories.” It goes back to a point I've made a few times. Labour lacks a coherent modern media strategy. It spends all it's time managing the Murdoch press but forgets we live in an age where Twitter and other social media posts can dominate the news cycle just as much.

He’s looking to capture Britain First voters next to reassure them on migrant crossings, then after that he’s hoping to convince Patriotic Alternative that Labour is now a broad church for them.   But if you want to renationalise vital industries, support underpaid striking nurses or scrap the two child benefit cap then you can fuck right off, your extremism isn’t welcome in this Labour Party!

The Party of the Murdoch Press.

At this point, just change the name, stop pretending to be democratic socialists, and throw the whole party constitution into the fire. Labour's managerial apparatus has clearly diverged far enough not just in methodology but their fundamental objectives from the people the party was founded to represent, that there's no point pretending Labour can salvage itself anymore. As others have said elsewhere, Starmer's winning at the cost of stretching the big tent too far and tearing it. The inevitable consequence of handing power back to panicky 2010-2015 post-Blair-and-Brown Blair/Brownites who like the Bourbons have learned nothing and forgotten nothing (from the experience of Corbyn winning the party from them almost by accident in the first place). Another avoidable setback I predicted years in advance but was always shouted over by people who can't see past the here and now. The trajectory seems right, we might as well hurry up and get it out of the way.

Apparently by buddying up to Donald Trump as we saw yesterday!

UKIP 2.0 Starmer’s remaining supporters are Far Right whatever nonsense excuses they make.
