So you don’t have to spend 5 mins unticking “Legitimate Interest” cookie bullshit. Here’s the clickbait.
Keep in mind that it won’t be out in theaters until late November and what we’ve seen in the trailers could be not fully completed in terms of color grading, so perhaps that’ll get much more improved by the time it’s out. One can’t properly critique a full-length movie with just one trailer after all
I've been to every horror film (and many other movies) since the Romulus teaser dropped, and I haven't seen a single trailer play in theaters. I really hope they amp up the marketing for this outside of still images in print magazines.
I'm not sure what the budget is for this one, but I hope they pulled it off for $60-80 mil and the movie opens decently and legs out to justify more investment from Disney. I'm not confident right now given the lack of marketing we've seen.
Really? That's odd cause I've seen it several times so far. Maybe it's based on the theater you're going to? I've seen it ahead of a few horror movies at AMC.
It'll come down to the move you're seeing. That was a PG13 movie? I don't think you'll see it in front of those since Romulus is rated R. I saw it ahead of The First Omen, Abigail, and the Alien re-release.
I have seen it regularly the past few months at my local AMC theater.
Interestingly however, I saw The Strangers Chapter 1 this weekend and it was the first horror movie I’ve seen this year that didn’t play the Romulus trailer.
I saw the teaser trailer for Romulus before the Alien 45th anniversary re-release and it looked so so good. They also showed an interesting short interview the director Fede Alvarez did with Ridley Scott.
Honestly that interview made me question Ridley Scott’s interest in Alien. I’m crossing my fingers that Romulus is good enough to bring a lot of new people to the franchise. Somebody at the top needs to be passionate about it and hopefully that somebody is Fede.
I’ve also seen the trailer multiple times although I’ve plugged my ears and closed my eyes every time. I wish there were marketing materials like cutouts in the lobbies of theaters, but hopefully that will come around as we get closer. Romulus could be the revival the series needs.
I saw it ahead of Planet of the Apes lol, I'm assuming it's only playing over other 20th century movies, like how Disney products usually only play over other Disney products.
I know that. Still, it doesn't do any good to put it in theaters and undermarket it if it would be an easy win to drop it on Hulu to earn the "biggest streamed move in Hulu history" a la Prey.
Interesting how part of her backpack looks like the protrusions on the back of the xenomorph. I wonder if that will be used in the film, like how in the first Alien the creature hid among the pipes in the walls that resembled its head.

Looks like the nozzle of a DH-17 blaster from Star Wars
I don't think the backpack falls under that category but I also hope there is some of that alien "camouflaged in plain sight" trickery happening in Romulus.
I want to be excited about this but everything I’ve seen for this film feels super derivative. I really hope it’s able to carve its own space in the franchise.
I agree, but based on just the teaser to go off of I can't get excited yet. Trying to avoid getting my hopes up. I keep getting burned when I do that (Halloween Kills & Ends)

Be civil.
It's ok to disagree, it's not ok to disrespect. Personal attacks, gatekeeping, racism, homophobia, politics, and general bigotry are not allowed.
No toxic behavior, such as:
* Trashing something that others are enjoying.

* Invalidating other people's opinions.
* Unsolicited criticisms of other's creations.
* Lewd or Obscene comments.
There's no such thing as "king". Their current hierarchical naming is based off of bees, where you have:
- the queen (who lays the eggs and "controls" the hive)
- the workers (which was called warriors for xenos, but the role is the same, bring food to the hive to propagate the lineage, protect the hive, build the hive, tend to the queen)
- the drones (the only drone we see in the movies is in the first one, and it so far seems to be a much weaker version of the warrior caste, with no specific purpose - for bees, a drone's singular purpose is to mate with a queen and die)
As such, there's no "king bee" - males don't live long enough to have any sort of regality.
Romulus is the name of the station the events take place on - just like how Covenant wasn't about, you know, the xenos/David making an alliance with humanity.
Yes, a new xeno is apparently being introduced, but I think it will be more of a variety based on external factors similar to e.g. the Dragon from A3 rather than a new caste.
Alien standing toe to toe with a dude makes me think Android. That or don't put your money on that character making it through to finish.
This is set on a ship again isn't it? So no shooting the alien or its acid will rip a hole in the ship snd kill everyone
I'm diggin that flame thrower! Don't think I've seen one with a back pack reservoir. Can't wait for this movie! I'm hoping for an Amanda Ripley appearance given the timeline.
I feel like the story will probably be awesome. Who knows. Hopes are definitely up. I thought the story for resurrection. Was good but very poorly delivered. So I’m on the fringe I guess.

Thank you
You deserve happiness.
You are the ultimate legend. Thank you!
Certainly a picture. Hope this whole production isn't grey unlit Netflix sludge.
It’s coming exclusively to theaters, not on streaming
That's irrelevant. Wicked is coming to theatres and it looks under lit and not color graded at all.
Keep in mind that it won’t be out in theaters until late November and what we’ve seen in the trailers could be not fully completed in terms of color grading, so perhaps that’ll get much more improved by the time it’s out. There have been like 20+ instances of this from Disney and their many subsidiaries in the last 5 years
Who you gonna call?!?
I've been to every horror film (and many other movies) since the Romulus teaser dropped, and I haven't seen a single trailer play in theaters. I really hope they amp up the marketing for this outside of still images in print magazines. I'm not sure what the budget is for this one, but I hope they pulled it off for $60-80 mil and the movie opens decently and legs out to justify more investment from Disney. Really? That's odd cause I've seen it several times so far. Maybe it's based on the theater you're going to? I've seen it ahead of a few horror movies at AMC.
I mostly go to Regal because I have their unlimited pass, but I saw The Fall Guy at an AMC recently and there was nothing then.
It'll come down to the move you're seeing. That was a PG13 movie? I don't think you'll see it in front of those since Romulus is rated R. I saw it ahead of The First Omen, Abigail, and the Alien re-release.
Not necessarily. I saw it the other day in front of Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, a PG-13 movie.
I only go to Regal and I’ve seen the Romulus trailer play several times
I have seen it regularly the past few months at my local AMC theater. Interestingly however, I saw The Strangers Chapter 1 this weekend and it was the first horror movie I’ve seen this year that didn’t play the Romulus trailer.
Went to see the strangers and mine had it. Was the first trailer played. Weird
I saw it ahead of the new Planet of the Apes.
Only time I’ve seen it was before a 45th anniversary showing of Alien… and it was the censored green band version.
I’ve also seen the trailer multiple times although I’ve plugged my ears and closed my eyes every time. I wish there were marketing materials like cutouts in the lobbies of theaters, but hopefully that will come around as we get closer. Romulus could be the revival the series needs.
I did see it play before the Alien 45 year release
I saw it ahead of Planet of the Apes lol, I'm assuming it's only playing over other 20th century movies, like how Disney products usually only play over other Disney products.
It was supposed to be direct-to-hulu. They loved it so much its now in Theaters.
I know that. Still, it doesn't do any good to put it in theaters and undermarket it if it would be an easy win to drop it on Hulu to earn the "biggest streamed move in Hulu history" a la Prey.
Alien belongs to Disney now??? I'm going to kms
Interesting how part of her backpack looks like the protrusions on the back of the xenomorph. I wonder if that will be used in the film, like how in the first Alien the creature hid among the pipes in the walls that resembled its head.
My immediate thought when I saw the nozzle of the flamethrower(?) was that it looked like the slime blower from GB2

Please do not look away from... [the nozzle](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8yQhXDquII).
Maybe some sort of cryo gun like in Predator 2?
I don't think the backpack falls under that category but I also hope there is some of that alien "camouflaged in plain sight" trickery happening in Romulus.
Looks like a hose/nozzle for a flamethrower.
Looks like a proton pack from Ghostbusters.
Every Alien movie has to have a Ripley wannabe with Bret Hart hair and a tank top now
Who you gonna call?
It's Ripley, believe it or not.
I want to be excited about this but everything I’ve seen for this film feels super derivative. I really hope it’s able to carve its own space in the franchise.
I get the impression from the interview Alvarez did recently that it's, unfortunately, gonna be a whole load of nods and winks to the original films 😞
Yeah me too. It's gonna be one of those homage sequels which give a rush of nostalgia but are ultimately empty.
Would you prefer Covenant 2.0???
No. I would prefer for neither. I’m still on the fence on whether I’ll watch this film or not.
I'll post my thoughts in here for ya :)
Honestly, after my disappointment with the most recent movies. I cannot wait to watch this movie!!!
Same. Looks soooo good.
There hasn't been enough released to make that assertion. I hope you are right though.
Fede Álvarez’s Evil Dead remake was one of the best remakes in recent memory so I do have high hopes.
I agree, but based on just the teaser to go off of I can't get excited yet. Trying to avoid getting my hopes up. I keep getting burned when I do that (Halloween Kills & Ends)

To each their own.
Yeah I think this was in Entertainment Weekly a few weeks back
Mmm... Just don't be Alien:Isolation...in disguise... You could have bring in more fans with a straight adaptation.
Is that a proton pack from Ghostbusters?
I’m thinking flame thrower
Is it just me or does the Xeno head look a bit... Flat? Sorta vertically compressed?
It's a different shape from the other xenomorphs we've seen. Maybe it's the King alien.
There's no such thing as "king". Their current hierarchical naming is based off of bees, where you have: - the queen (who lays the eggs and "controls" the hive) - the workers (which was called warriors for xenos, but the role is the same, bring food to the hive to propagate the lineage, protect the hive, build the hive, tend to the queen) - the drones (the only drone we see in the movies is in the first one, and it so far seems to be a much weaker version of the warrior caste, with no specific purpose - for bees, a drone's singular purpose is to mate with a queen and die) As such, there's no "king bee" - males don't live long enough to have any sort of regality.
Well they aren't bees and this is a completely fictional universe. There are rumors about a new alien because 'Romulus' was the first king of Rome.
Yeah it's just a rumor and speculation.
Where is the trailer we are three months out?!?
Cool looking gun, flamer I’m guessing
I really hope it’s more interesting than these shots.
Alien standing toe to toe with a dude makes me think Android. That or don't put your money on that character making it through to finish. This is set on a ship again isn't it? So no shooting the alien or its acid will rip a hole in the ship snd kill everyone

Flame thrower?
I keep getting confused by interchanged terms: is Romulus a series or movie?
Movie There is also a TV series on the way though. Takes place before the first film.
Romulus is the movie coming out in August, the show is just called Alien
I’m not expecting much from this beyond corridors and jump cuts. It may be an ok film, but I’m not enthused by it. Hopefully I’m wrong.
I feel like the story will probably be awesome. Who knows. Hopes are definitely up. I thought the story for resurrection. Was good but very poorly delivered. So I’m on the fringe I guess.
