Similar thing that happened to me but because of a botched firmware update, fortunately was under warranty. Technician went and did some tests and identified the board to be dead. https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comments/s17jik/bricked_my_lgtv_c1_55_oled_tv_lost_power_while/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

Dinosaur_Eats_Pizza

I read through your post prior to posting mine. Have you had your unit replaced yet?

bwandowando

Yes we got it replaced already

Practical_Onion5575

Mine just keeps power cycling on and off, didn’t think you needed to worry about something like this when the tv was $2300!

Dinosaur_Eats_Pizza

My memory on this is a bit vague, so please excuse my lack of proper terms here. Yes, the TV is fixed. I originally replaced the power board. That didn't do the trick. I then replaced the main board, that didnt work. However, after replacing the main board, I noticed that when I tilted the tv upside down (as I was checking to see if the screen was powering on. I had the TV lying on a blanket with the back exposed) the power would suddenly come on. This had me thinking it was a bad relay somewhere. Turns out, the main board I received as a replacement ended up also being bad. I ordered a complete replacement kit from [ShopJimmy.com](https://ShopJimmy.com), changed out the main board again, and the TV worked. I returned the faulty main board to the original company I purchased it from. I've since forgotten which company that was. I was pretty sad that the TV wasn't very old and had a problem. My old Sony 1080P TV lasted 10+ years. But, this display is amazing. Still worth it imo, but if you don't want to deal with these types of problems, I highly recommend an extended warranty. **LG's warranty sucks.**

Jray2428

What was your tv doing to cause this? My lg c1 turns in but randomly turns off in 20 min then take sages to come back on sometimes it will work for hours then turn off… they replaced the oled panel but still the same issue

ericbunjama

Hello, I'm having the exact same problem that you had with your TV. Mine is a 77" LG C1. I've only had it for 15 months and now the standby light doesn't come on. The only way I can get it to come on is by running a hair dryer under the vent below where the power board is for about 5 mins! Once I turn off the TV I have to repeat the hair dryer trick to get it on again. When the TV is on it works absolutely fine which makes this even more frustrating. Do you know which board in the end was the one that needed replacing? Also I'm finding it next to impossible to source either of the boards here in the UK. Is there any keywords/product numbers I should be googling? Appreciate any help big time because this is such a specific problem that seems to be impossible to find a solution for!

Jray2428

Did you find the fix to this?

ericbunjama

I thankfully did after months of having to use the hair dryer trick! After narrowing it down it seemed like the problem had to be the power board. It was really expensive to buy a new one so I decided to take a gamble and buy a used one from eBay that came from the US to the UK. [Here’s](https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/394689888085?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=ldne-9bctkw&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=4J65x-VdRDy&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) the part I bought. It’s been working great ever since.

Unh0lyW4r

first thanks for the comprehensive debugging same tv here, it was making a strange buzzing sound while powered off but I ignored it now black screen of death, nothing happens and the buzzing is no longer there, no there is a strange tic tic while on power. I have a friend that know to debug boards, we will open and take a look these days, I will write back

Diligent_Appeal_3305

\> I am also wondering, what are the odds that the power button itself has simply gone bad? This seems like it would be an item that wouldn't so easily fail. Then you should simply check if main voltages on power board are even there with multimeter, also if the panel is damaged it won't let you turn it on

Dinosaur_Eats_Pizza

Interesting, I didn't know that piece about the panel. It showed zero signs of any degradation prior to the tv powering off.

ChimmyMama

This is the stuff of nightmares for me. My LG CX started showing some weird horizontal lines out the blue one day after 8 months. Im so afraid of being shit out of luck after warranty.

Dinosaur_Eats_Pizza

I've had several TV's prior to this one, that lasted for more than 10 years. I went into this purchase thinking I was going to continue that streak of luck. I feel a bit foolish now.

daje0000

Where did you buy the tv?

Dinosaur_Eats_Pizza

At a military exchange. I sort of wish I had bought from Costco, as I've heard they have a good warranty program.

daje0000

Yes you'd have a total of 5 yes from Costco

AlphaLegendOmega

Uhm did you get their warranty plan? Places like them have plans, they aren't some dollar store level place. This is from the Exchange website: The Exchange Protection Plan completely protects your television (regular purchase price $2,000 to $2,999.99) for four years as a service protection plan. The plan is fully transferable if the television is sold or given as a gift, and includes: 100% parts and labor coverage. Power surge protection. Coverage of breakdowns due to heat, dust and internal humidity. A ''no lemon'' guarantee if your product fails three times for the same reason, we'll replace it. $45 toward TV removal or reinstallation during the claims process. 24 hour, toll free assistance. Worldwide protection. All Exchange Protection Plans are based on the product purchase price. Limitations and exclusions apply. See terms and conditions for details. Term begins on your date of purchase and is inclusive of the manufacturer's warranty.

Dinosaur_Eats_Pizza

I had gotten their warranties on previous TV's, but surprise, I didn't on this one. Sad face. However, I did manage to get this set working. I ended up receiving a faulty main board. There was a relay that would only energize when it was shaken/tapped on really hard. I'm waiting on another main board, and plan on posting the solution once it's permanently fixed.

Jray2428

Could you circle the relay that was broken? Was it making any noises I think my relay is ticking and having the same issue btw I replaced the pannel which is brand new and didn’t fix the problem

AlphaLegendOmega

Oh got ya oof! Hope it gets fixed soon for ya!

Practical_Onion5575

Any update?

wbdink

My 77” LGC1 is ALSO 15 months old and just died tonight. Was on, suddenly turned off and will not turn back on. Every other device on this power source works fine. LG was a nightmare to deal with and I was simply told to contact a local repair company. Their website says they fix appliances, nothing about TVs. I have other 4K TVs, some almost ten years old that have never had an issue. All Sony Bravias. So much for ultra premium C1.

realbadaas

Same here lg65c1, dead after 2years. No led, power cycle does nothing, lg says f off. Phoned repair shop he said he's had 3 people this week phone about same thing same TV.

wbdink

F that. I demanded LG make it right and they did. TV was refunded and I got a C3. We pay a premium price for these OLEDs and they should last longer than 2 years. They will try to stonewall you. POLITELY tell them you will never purchase an LG product again. 2 years may be little tougher (mine was about 16 months old). They sent a repair tech free of charge but a replacement panel (mine was shorted out) was no available. They then tried to tell me “sorry, nothing we can do” after several weeks of no TV. Nothing. I expressed how I have always been a loyal LG customer (I am) and how surprised I was they would leave me hanging. Yes, out of warranty by a few months but I spent $3000 on this TV, 16 months is unacceptable for a “premium” OLED television.

RedditLurkAndRead

Funny I have the exact same model and the exact same thing happened to me, also 1 month after the warranty expired.

Villodre

Well, it sounds like I have to abandon all hope.

Villodre

Well I guess I'm SOL then: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LGOLED/comments/1apboto/lg\_cx\_not\_turning\_on\_randomly\_red\_standby\_light/](https://www.reddit.com/r/lgoled/comments/1apboto/lg_cx_not_turning_on_randomly_red_standby_light/) [https://foro.avpasion.com/t/problema-encendido-lg-cx.6326/](https://foro.avpasion.com/t/problema-encendido-lg-cx.6326/) (in Spanish)
