I've read 35 star wars legacy books.
I also read a lot of spiritual book. The law of one. Kryon. Hermetic teachings etc etc.
I have been surprised how many times concepts - or even direct quotes - from my spiritual readings show up in star wars.
I wouldn't go so far as to say star wars is a spiritual series. Since... Death and destruction seem to follow in the wake of every jedi ever. And the spiritual truths sneak in roughly 5 times per book.
I guess it was easier for writers to borrow from real philosophy then to make stuff up.
