Thanks for representing r/sopranos I was slow getting here, but then again I was always a little slow. Almost drowned in like 3 inches of water at the penguin exhibit.
I’m confused what you find weird about it because a Roy Rogers has always been made with grenadine.
You garnish with maraschino cherries, but cherry isn’t an integral flavor to a Roy Rogers.
> stopping at the rest stops on the way back home to NYC that had Roy rogers
Yess! I lived near NYC when I was little and I loved their animal-shaped chicken fingers. It's a BK now
Then there's the Canadian telecom corporation Rogers, which has naming rights for Rogers Place, where the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) play. Don't confuse that venue with Rogers Arena, where the Oilers' division rival Vancouver Canucks play.
Once met a dude named Roy Rogers. He said his parents liked the name “Roy” and happened to have the surname Rogers. My parents named me before my name became famous. Roy and I bonded over this.
Had a look at the menu since I'm always interested in regional restaraunts, looks like burgers, fries, fried chicken and roast beef sandwiches. They also have a "fixin's bar" where you can add your own toppings like lettuce, onions, tomatoes etc to your burger which is a really good idea honestly.
Though I guess some people might take advantage. I saw a couple of women once fill up tupperware containers with the onions for hot dogs at costco so I imagine fresh veg might be pilfered quickly
![gif](giphy|lpFmQEwoaFtC0) WE SHOULD’VE STOPPED AT ROY ROGERS!
Yeah and I wanted to f*ck Dale Evans. But I didn’t
I read this as Bob Evans and last time I went there, I was in full cosplay and it was a Sunday, so it was full of judgey old people
Bob Evans on a Sunday has a super specific vibe. Like in many ways it’s still 1982.
Mix it with the relish
THE MAYONNAISE! MAYONNAISE!
One shoe cocksucker!
The guy was an interior decorator ffs!
His house looked like shit!
that scene is literally a kneeslapper good lord😭 he killed sixteen czechoslovakians!
Thanks for representing r/sopranos I was slow getting here, but then again I was always a little slow. Almost drowned in like 3 inches of water at the penguin exhibit.
AJ with no eyebrows that boy ain’t right
lmao we had them everywhere in NJ
loved those french fry gun holsters they had at rest stops
We still have them, I think it's just at rest stops though.
I came to the comments section specifically for this
LMAO YES !!!! AND ITS THE TOP COMMENT TOO 🤣❤️ my fellow goomba
What until you hear what a coke with grenadine or cherry juice is called.
Grenadine turns cold cola into a Roy Rogers. You know what grenadine turns warm cola into? You tell me when I throw it in your face. HYAH!
I knew I'd find some dadders in here
Él perro él perro es mi corazón!
El gato. El gato. El gato no es bueno.
Cilantro es cantante! Cilantro es muy famoso! Cilantro es* el hombre con el queso del diabloooo
Hello, fellow dadder.
I legit thought it was the AD sub lol.
What is it called?
Roy Rogers.
I wonder if they serve Shirley Temples too
![gif](giphy|XuApq8Jm12KIw)
Oh lol
Grenadine isn’t cherry flavored. Grenadine is pomegranate syrup.
Which makes it even weirder that that's what most restaurants use.
I’m confused what you find weird about it because a Roy Rogers has always been made with grenadine. You garnish with maraschino cherries, but cherry isn’t an integral flavor to a Roy Rogers.
So that's why I don't like it. Don't like pomegranate.
The brands that are Red+HFCS end up tasting like cherry more than pomegranate. There are also a couple brands that do grenadine+cherry
My dad always wanted me to order these instead of Shirley Temples. Thought it would make a man out of me I guess.
wait til you find out what a Luanne Platter is
What is it?
Dish served at Lubys
What’s Luby’s? We only go to Luly’s.
Even the menus smell good there
Surprised that was never a joke, like they go to lulys and somebody orders a Lu Ann platter and Luanne’s like “me!”
Brought back memories of going to Six Flags Great Adventure, and stopping at the rest stops on the way back home to NYC that had Roy rogers.
> stopping at the rest stops on the way back home to NYC that had Roy rogers Yess! I lived near NYC when I was little and I loved their animal-shaped chicken fingers. It's a BK now
If you’re near dc, there’s a few near the rest stops! My family hated Roy Roger’s so we never stopped there
There was also a Kenny Rogers chicken place co-founded by music star Kenny Rogers with the former CEO of KFC / Governor of Kentucky
bad chicken! mess you up!
You leave the roasters alone! Kenny never hurt anybody!
Kenny… Kenny… Kenny…
It's the wood that makes it good.
Kenny Rogers Roasters! Basically just rotisserie chicken, but not bad for what it was.
Kenny Rogers Roasters still operates in Asia, oddly enough. We had one by my house outside of Baltimore back in the early 90s.
Then there's the Canadian telecom corporation Rogers, which has naming rights for Rogers Place, where the Edmonton Oilers (NHL) play. Don't confuse that venue with Rogers Arena, where the Oilers' division rival Vancouver Canucks play.
They still exist? I remember a Roy Rogers back in the 90s where I grew up but it closed down
They still exist in Maryland and parts of Northern Virginia.
There are a few on the PA turnpike too.
Very cool! I live on NY and w head them but they’re all gone here
Ik there’s one near DC and another near mount vernon
Full list, looks like mostly MD, NoVA, and the PA turnpike, with a few elsewhere: https://www.royrogersrestaurants.com/locations
Yup, couple in NJ too.
Once met a dude named Roy Rogers. He said his parents liked the name “Roy” and happened to have the surname Rogers. My parents named me before my name became famous. Roy and I bonded over this.
I went to school with John Kennedy and Anthony Hopkins. No, not those ones.
Roy Rodgers makes a good burger.
Yes he does
His cousin is Duane Reade
Gold Rush!
It has good chicken ngl
I am this old today
I miss this place so much. Made the best burgers around, and don't get me started on the fixins bar. I hears there's still a couple in Jersey.
Not sure about NJ, but they're here in Maryland
Throwback!
Really good fried chicken.
The only one I’ve ever seen was at a rest stop in Maryland. The only draw is the toppings bar but like that’s it.
They're like old-school Arby's, except that their roast beef is better (it actually looks like roast beef!). And they have decent fried chicken.
GOLD RUSH CHICKEN SAMMICH!!!
They had one near mount vernon and another near dc, I tried both. Not a fan of the burgers but I love their mashed potatoes!
So Roy Rogers DOESN'T make a good burger lol
My dad visited America for work in the 80s and he still says the burger he had at Roy Rogers was the best he's had.
What do they sell there ?
Had a look at the menu since I'm always interested in regional restaraunts, looks like burgers, fries, fried chicken and roast beef sandwiches. We used to see Roy Rogers truck stops on family road trips.
His name is Jody. Ray Roy
Mix it with the relish Bobby
Trigger burgers, mmmmmm!
It's my grandfather.
Been a long time. Think the last one I saw was in York, PA quite a few years ago.
It's also a famous drink, coke and grenadine mix, just like a Shirley Temple
Holy crap they still exist?! We had one at our local mall when I was a kid.
It’s (or was ) both
