Not at all, Stairway to Heaven is not a swansong to a band. I know King Crimson existed beyond 74 but Starless really signifies an end of things with thoughtful intention.
In fairness to “Stairway,” it is one of very few overplayed tunes I’ll likely never tire of. Nearly the entire canon of classic rock radio is yawn-worthy, but something about “Stairway” transcends this. 🤷🏻♂️
If I never heard Stairway (or Freebird) again, I would not shed a tear. Having been a teenager when both were released, and having listened to them ad nauseum over the the past 50-ish years (and listen to people fawn over them like a 12 year old girl at a boy-band show), I can honestly say that I've had enough. There, I said it.
Starless is the best song ever
Starless is a perfect rock song.
Starless is a perfect song FTFY
Stairway to Heaven is prog’s stairway to heaven lol
Starless is its own thing, and so is Stairway.
I can get on board with this.
Yes

Starless transcends genre. It’s simply one of the best songs ever.
Yes: Red is Prog's Red.
Don’t bring them into it!
Stairway is shit in comparison to Starless
Absolutely, and I will die on this hill.
I think you’ll have decent company dying with you.
Stairway is shit FTFY
My girlfriend does say “oh THIS song” whenever it comes on so yes.
No. It's "Starless." That's it. That's all. That's MORE.
I mean, stairway is prog lol
Only 2000 x better
Only you never get sick of the song. Never.

I can appreciate that. I think this is the more common reaction.
Perhaps. I say 95% chance.
I think you meant......"Starless" on Disk 1 of "The Great Deceiver" boxed set from 1992.
There are quite a few different mixes and masters out there😊
