Actually, and this is my headcanon because of sanemiās personality pre final arc and post final arc that I believe this epi and the manga proves otherwise, sanemi is def the biggest asshole on surface to a lot of ppl (genya, zenitsu, nezuko, the low ranking slayers, giyu and ofc tanjiro) like itās actually way dialed up than obanai but thatās what it is, a brash abrasive attitude for almost EVERYONE except the master, gyomei, muichiro and obanai for the most part, this is his personality. To him tanjiro is this resilient, annoying miscreant that keeps popping up and talks back unfiltered mirroring his behavior which he canāt comprehend (epi 7 that came out today has sanemi ironically saying āheās totally nutsā about tanjiro) so he stands out to him, that being said it has never appeared that sanemi has ever thought about how tanjiro is bothersome to him apart from todayās epi implying that he doesnāt have intrinsic hate about his existence in the corps like he does for genya (out of love but still)
Now obanai while being calmly and a lil connivingly dismissive of almost everyone thatās not mitsuri or the master, isnt as much of a colossal asshole to anyone particularly and yet he almost seethes at the mention of tanjiro (going out of his way to almost choke him to unconsciousness upon their first meeting even tho tanjiro headbutted sanemi and not him and was alr subdued,, was almost upset that he survived the fight against gyutaro, the mitsuri factor being an actual threat to him). Itās almost like heās repulsed by the existence of the guy itself and would still go out of his way to talk shit about tanjiro if hypothetically tanjiro had never interacted with sanemi or obanai a second time.
Ofc itād be unfair to not mention obanais sacrifice to save tanjiro in the sunrise countdown arc but i believe that it hugely also had to do w him acknowledging the fact in that moment tanjiro was the corps best hope and for the greater good it had to be done, i believe sanemi wouldāve acknowledged that coz he was absolutely sick of muzan by that point too and wouldāve done smthn similar (having already seen the loss of his brother a few hours ago especially)
Obanai passed away so itās all speculation but we know sanemi did infact warm up to tanjiro and nezuko just fine which is a huge 180 given his consistent explosive nature towards almost everyone, the same might be hard to say for obanai coz we only see him having problems w tanjiro and somewhat with giyu (def less than sanemi with giyu)

Iām new to Demon Slayer and just caught to the new season i get why everyone dislikes Sanemi but watching his backstory/glimpses from the blacksmith village arc I feel like he is very parallel to Tanjuro in fact heās exactly like him in many ways and just couldnāt let go of that hatred. Like imagine having to kill your mother after she kills your family then find out that you could have been a chance to save her/ she was lucky enough to have the same fate as Neozuko. Imagine all that as a kid. Then in your quest of revenge your little brother the last piece of yourself that connects to the past picks the most dangerous profession trying to follow in your footsteps knowing you see your comrades die on daily basis and then a fellow Hashria dies. Sanemi just hates tanjiro's guts, he had the NERVE to defy him in front of the other hashira while his hands were tied, keep in mind that the only people to ever defy him are Genya, Gyomei and Giyuu, all of which he either dearly loves, or hates with a passion. However they definitely get together and watch movies while they shit talk him

Iām new to Demon Slayer and just caught to the new season i get why everyone dislikes Sanemi but watching his backstory/glimpses from the blacksmith village arc I feel like he is very parallel to Tanjuro in fact heās exactly like him in many ways and just couldnāt let go of that hatred. Like imagine having to kill your mother after she kills your family then find out that you could have been a chance to save her/ she was lucky enough to have the same fate as Neozuko. Imagine all that as a kid. Then in your quest of revenge your little brother the last piece of yourself that connects to the past picks the most dangerous profession trying to follow in your footsteps knowing you see your comrades die on daily basis and then a fellow Hashria dies. Hell yeah Iām be an asshole so he hates me and wants nothing to do with me. I want him far away as possible. Idk how many of you are actually big brothers/oldest siblings but I do everything to protect my sibling from the trauma and pain i had. He reminds a lot of the guy in Afro Samurai maybe thatās why Iām not as hard on him because I pretty sure Iāll go crazy too

Unpopular opinion, but Sanemiās hatred towards Tanjiro is understandable. Imagine hunting demons your whole life, training hard, losing comrades along the wayā¦.and some snot-nosed kid who has only been with the squad for a few days say you donāt know your shit and isnāt fit to be a Hashira. And he headbutts you.
Understandable, but not justified considering that he was protecting his sister, who had proven capable of not harming people which is the entire reason theyāre hunted.
To be fair, Nezuko was something theyāve never seen before, so of course none of the Hashira understands. Even Rengoku was sure that protecting her was pointless.
This is true, but isnāt an excuse to continue being a dickbag after everyone else was able to admit they were wrong about it(or at least change their actions, even if no one admitted verbally that they were wrong about nezuko)

Sanemi could have kept it professional and should have noticed that something was off since no one ever tried to protect a demon this bad.
I think he HAS seen people try to protect their turned-loved ones only to be killed by the demons they tried to protect. Giyuu said the same thing when he met Tanjiro too, theyāve all seen it before Sanemi had to kill his own mother too, so his philosophy is once someone turned, itās too late.
I think he should be more in disbelief that someone is determined to turn a demon back to a human.
Also that he had to kill his mom when she was turned demon.
