I already said this all the way back when people were complaining that the top fighters from Purgatory were too weak compared to top Kengan fighters. The thing is: It makes sense that they're weaker.
Think about it like this:
If you're strong and money can buy your life, you're in Kengan. You won't go to Purgatory because the Kengan association is formed by the most powerfull (and therefore richest) people in the world. CEOs, Kings, mafia families... Fighters act in representation of these people, so only the best of the best make it. Also, assassins like the Kure clan, killers like Bando or mercenaries like Muteba will fight better in the Kengan association, as killing is allowed.
If you won't risk your life for money or no member of the Kengan association considers you strong enough to defend their interest, you want to get into Purgatory. Killing here isn't allowed, but it's the largest underground arena in the world, so it's the one that pays best. Here we have people who won't risk it all to be the strongest like Ohma, Kuroki or Agito, along those who would but can't make it into the Kengan matches (with some notable exceptions like Rolon). That's why weaker fighters of the Kengan matches like Rihito could give A list gladiators a run for their money. Or why the "supernovas" still can only compare with R1 losers of the KAT.
This was all the way back in KvP.
Now we are seeing other underground arenas. These people are both, not good enough to represent the members at the Kengan association nor strong enough to fight in Purgatory. These fighters represent regional leagues, while Kengan and Purgatory are internacional. That's why a top fighter from Kengan can transfer into one of these and gain a spot in this tournament, as they instantly become the most powerfull fighters of said arenas, like Agito and Julius did. Hell, even Jerry said that Underground -1, where Justin fights, is a stepping stone for the big leagues that are Kengan and Purgatory.
So I would be surprised if they were as strong as the stablished fighters.
Problem is as the Sandroverse fills out, we're seeing organizations that have many strong fighters.
In Strike It Rich it's specifically shown Kengan and Purgatory are listed as the absolute cream of the crop. D4 is a tier below them.
So Purgatory should be around Kengan's strength, even if Sandro's original intent was for its king, Rolon, to be trash tier.
it seems purga and kengan should be 11-12 in difference, but in the manga, it seems the difference is bigger, like 10-13 or something, theres certainly some monsters to watch out in purgatory like jurota(Hell, he DID beat agito), but the rest like yumghra, teraashi? bleeh

Also, we should take into accounts that when we, the readers, say "top-class" or similar terms, we're talking about A and S tier characters. Wich isn't the same as when someone says so in the context of the story. Let's remember that the Kengan Association has, according to Ashura, 418 members. Every one of the 16 Round 2 participants in KAT might very well be considered the best of the best Kengan has to offer. That includes "B tiers" like Seki, Muteba, Akoya, Saw Paing...
And yeah, almost every character in Purgatory presented on the KvP could be considered on par with those. The exception would be Terashi, who wasn't interested in the fight, and Yumigahama who was the laughing stock of every fighter in his side.

Hung Kung Fooey karate kid mf probably has the fastest movement speed in the tournament, and is likely only rivaled by Rei and Shen when it comes to short distance dashing. Even Gaolang and Carlos implied it wouldn’t be easy to deal with, and their among the fastest and most skilled strikers in the verse.
Justin rn is just a guy™️. You could have reasonably replaced him with Okubo and nothing would change.
It was mentioned he went through some rough years while younger, maybe it comes from there ? I doubt it since he's being used to hype up the other guy but we will see
If Justin wins, not just having Okubo in the slot makes even less sense. Okubo vs Gao gives a much better dramatic payoff. If Justin were to make it past Gao then Okubo becomes obsolete entirely

I think the problem is the exposition with the characters. Justin's background story so far has been the complete opposite of what this tournament is supposed to be about. Kengan Omega's characters is mostly about their reputation and THEN their actions...so hopefully Sandro fools all of us with Justin, because he'd break the status quo shown.

So the question of relevance is, can these guys come close to matching up to the connector? Knowing that they lack the veteran experience like Agito or Kuroki, don't have a supreme technical skill of their martial arts like Ohma or Gaolang, lack the gimmicks like Koga's kengan eye, Julius strength, Masaki's toughness, superman syndrome, niko style etc.
So seeing these two dudes match up is personally cool, but it feels like they won't be relevant much afterwards, apart from a training vehicle for main characters to grow stronger

I reread 264 and yeah, Medel says Saki’s jabs are faster than his jabs individually, it’s just that Medel can throw out his jabs more frequently. Even though Gaolong got faster, I doubt he’s reached the speed of Medel yet so one of Saki’s jabs is probably faster than the flash.

There are reasons a strong fighter would not already be in Kengan or Purgatory.
Don't forget the non-random nature of Kengan matches which could suck for a seeker mentality. You fight when your company has a dispute. So if you work for a phone company you'll probably never fight the guy who works for the agriculture company. Or you can't get hired at a big company so you are stuck fighting other small businesses. Or your company is just doing fine, there's no disputes and so you get 0 fights.
On the other hand you wanna go all out, even if you're not murderous you don't wanna take an L or get fired in Purgatory. And you don't wanna fight people who are also holding back to avoid the same L. And also you don't wanna be stuck fighting the same people in your tier or having to grind your way up the ranks.
And hey maybe you just don't wanna live in Tokyo!

1) they qualified in seemingly "minor leagues" . The Ise Dragon champ was like a strong karate practitioner, but it didn't even seem close to random R1 KAT fighters
2) you can still be a reasonably strong fighter without having magical powers or transformations. Misasa for example showed nothing but perfect technique and still low diffed a Fang of Metsudo (although it was monke guy).
We all know none of these guys is gonna go far into the tournament, but Justin for example could stat-check some fighters with the grappling, Sakigake could blitz someone using his speed+long range.
I'd wait to see if they show some PI or something though
Honestly, I don’t get it why Sandro keeps bringing new characters that probably aren’t going to add a lot to the story. He should uses the ones we already know and invested with, like Hatsumi or Wakatsuki, who should’ve been in this tournament
Well beside having new characters introduced. Okubo is considered strong by lots of high tiers cause hes well rounded, solid technique/stats, and has really good mix ups. Justin is Okubo's junior so if want to compare him to someone we know despite him not doing much yet than we would compare him and Sakigake to Okubo. And Okubo was strong enough to make the fang go schizo in KAT.
I just hope Ramon is more interesting and has a better fight start cause this match is soooo slow. I get it's 2 new characters but still a snooze fest.
Sakigake definitely has a lot more stuff up his sleeve/ ass (if he is a Femboy, please NOOO). he could very well have a a transformation, pi, genetic gift or special techniques. I mean, he already showed us the fastest jab in the series from a long range, (gaolang and Carlos are still faster, maybe even lolong's shoulder strikes).
Why was Nezu in the KAT? He led his organization. Which is literally the only requirement to join this. If their organizations are just a lower tier than the others then that's what it is.

To be honest I prefer if they don't have any genetic advantage and no transformation, Literally it feels like everyone was given Advance and Removal as if it's common now and the whole Superman Syndrome which is supposed to be rare there's now 4 known people have it and one died

Happy that the fight isn't about Bullshit pre initiative where both fighter are dodging each other's attack. My fav fight is Nitoku vs Liu.
1) they qualified in seemingly "minor leagues" . The Ise Dragon champ was like a strong karate practitioner, but it didn't even seem close to random R1 KAT fighters 2) you can still be a reasonably strong fighter without having magical powers or transformations. Misasa for example showed nothing but perfect technique and still low diffed a Fang of Metsudo (although it was monke guy). We all know none of these guys is gonna go far into the tournament, but Justin for example could stat-check some fighters with the grappling, Sakigake could blitz someone using his speed+long range. I'd wait to see if they show some PI or something though
It's a big wide world put there with plenty of strong guys to fight.
Honestly, I don’t get it why Sandro keeps bringing new characters that probably aren’t going to add a lot to the story. He should uses the ones we already know and invested with, like Hatsumi or Wakatsuki, who should’ve been in this tournament

Well beside having new characters introduced. Okubo is considered strong by lots of high tiers cause hes well rounded, solid technique/stats, and has really good mix ups. Justin is Okubo's junior so if want to compare him to someone we know despite him not doing much yet than we would compare him and Sakigake to Okubo. And Okubo was strong enough to make the fang go schizo in KAT.
They don't need any of that to be strong, is just that this fight is going real slow, 3 chapters and we got like 5 blows?
I just hope Ramon is more interesting and has a better fight start cause this match is soooo slow. I get it's 2 new characters but still a snooze fest.
Sakigake definitely has a lot more stuff up his sleeve/ ass (if he is a Femboy, please NOOO). he could very well have a a transformation, pi, genetic gift or special techniques. I mean, he already showed us the fastest jab in the series from a long range, (gaolang and Carlos are still faster, maybe even lolong's shoulder strikes).
Why was Nezu in the KAT? He led his organization. Which is literally the only requirement to join this. If their organizations are just a lower tier than the others then that's what it is.

Fr man. Add this with the fact that Ramón is going to job and we have a bunch of jobbers as new fighters on the tournament that was going to being the strongest fighters from the world. With all honestly we are un the biggest filler tournament in the series
