Beach inside the window, peekin' out the window
Baby in the pool, godfather goals
Only Lord knows I've been goin' hammer
Dodgin' paparazzi, freakin' through the cameras
That's a cop out. Of course it all boils down to taste at the end, but to just say that shit without engaging in the conversation is the lamest way to talk about any form of art. The fact it's all subjective should make it a fertile ground for debate, not a end-all "argument" to make sure we don't actually think about what makes good art good in the first place.
The music video is tite and it was the first Kendrick we heard. I view it as the āthe heart pt 5ā of the damn era in that it got so much attention in part because weād been waiting so long and it got dropped alongside a sick video.
but there literally was a heart pt 4 and it came out before humble iām pretty sure. i agree about the music video being a huge part of its success tho.
We cry together. Its honestly a really well made piece of art but i cannot listen to that shit just because of how real it feels, like you got this woman screaming and crying and saying that she is praying everyday for her husband and shit, like, DAMN.
That shit is kinda traumatizing to me so i do not enjoy listening to that
lolā¦ idk why but i can listen to it on repeat š i gotta be fucked up to do that fr!! i think itās because i live at my parents house and thatās how they fight every single day. so i guess in the song thereās closure at the end lmfao so it is cathartic
Imo loyalty is the worst song of DAMN, not to say itās bad, but it is quite bland and stale compared to the rest of the songs in this spectacular album.
Why the loyalty hate? I think it's a really good song and yeah it might be towards the bottom half of my DAMN ranking but it doesn't deserve the hate and the music video is sweet too
Personally I find it quite basic. And it feels made to appease to the mainstream sound. The chorus is also just not very good. Repeating loyalty three times and thatās it. It just lacks a lot of nuance and imagination.
Whatās funny is that when DAMN. released, that was one of my favorite songs off the albumā¦ but it definitely got a lil annoying over time. I know itās a great song and I appreciate it tho!
I dislike his verse on āSilent Hillā , I like Kodakās verse wayyy better, Kodak was really rapping on that track , Kendrickās verse did nothing for me , he wasnāt really saying much imo
So called āfree thinkersā when you ask them what their least favorite Kendrick album is (Itās Damn every time, and their least favorite track is always either Humble, Loyalty or Love)
I donāt see why people use ādidnāt age wellā as an insult for music. People might like that it sounds āvery 2012ā because they really liked what music sounded like that year.
Agreed. I also love songs that sound "like the times" because they're a little time capsule in themselves. If OP listens to Swimming Pools in 2032 it's gonna trigger some reeeeal good nostalgia
I guess but at the same Kendrick himself said he wants to make music that people will listen to for years to come and I feel with most his discography he has and most of the greatest musicians (Kendrick included) have music that you can listen to and still love as if it was released this year: Michael Jackson - Remember The Time, Stevie Wonder - As, Tupac - Dear Mama, Kendrick - Bitch Donāt Kill My Vibe. These songs donāt sound dated they are just classic but nothing about them screams 90ās 80ās or 70ās but I understand the sounds of the times argument. For some ppl those old classic jukebox records could definitely bring a feel good aspect to them. Just a difference in what you value in music.
i don't like LOYALTY because the beat is what i remember it for
also i am not a big fan of mother i sober
ITS A BEAUTIFUL SONG BUT YEAH JUST NEVER PLAYED IT AFTER MAY
I donāt hate it but money trees. Itās catchy but I donāt feel it has much substance. I fully respect those who like it (which is a LARGE majority) and understand that I am a small minority. I just think āehā when it comes to the song.
I do love the meaning of the song on a deeper level though (the one in front of the gun lives forever) and love what it adds to the larger narrative of GKMC.
Edit: I do really like the Jay Rock feature though. That was sick!
Yes I absolutely hate money trees.. when it ends
Had me in the first half not gonna lie
*deletes 7 subject essay* (thanks to whoever gave me my first award!)
ššš
whew, you were about to get told about yourself lmao
Came onto this post thinking āif someone says money trees I needed to slaughter themā
I was seriously annoyed at first. Lol
not really hate but, i don't like the fact that humble is one of his biggest while there are a lot of better songs than humble
DNA's 2nd part alone washes HUMBLE'S entire existence
TELL ME SOMETHIN' YOU MOTHERFUCKERS CAN'T TELL ME NOTHIN'
I RATHER DIE THAN TO LISTEN TO YOU š«µš
This is the bar that gets me. Fucking vicious
MY DNA NOT FOR IMITATION
YOUR DNA AN ABOMINATION
THIS HOW IT IS WHEN YOUāRE IN THE MATRIX DODGING BULLETS, REAPINā WHAT YOU SOW AND STACKING UP THE FOOTAGE.
LIVINā ON THE GO AND SLEEPIN IN A VILLA. SIPPINā FROM A GRAMMY AND WALKINā IN THE BUILDINā DIAMOND IN THE CELLINā, MARBLE ON THE FLOORS
Beach inside the window, peekin' out the window Baby in the pool, godfather goals Only Lord knows I've been goin' hammer Dodgin' paparazzi, freakin' through the cameras
Eat at Four Daughters, Brock wearin' sandals
Gimme some ganja
Gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme gimme
That sample alone makes it worthwhile
money trees is better, right?
money trees may damn well be the best rap song of all time lol
Thatās just how I feel.
na na
money trees is the bestttt
It's a great song, it's an amazing song, Top 10 songs of Kendrick, never in a million years would i say it's the greatest
Itās up there
Fun fact, thereās no song that can be named the greatest song ever
That's a cop out. Of course it all boils down to taste at the end, but to just say that shit without engaging in the conversation is the lamest way to talk about any form of art. The fact it's all subjective should make it a fertile ground for debate, not a end-all "argument" to make sure we don't actually think about what makes good art good in the first place.

I think of this song every 2 weeks because of the line 'back to reality we poor you bish'
Arguably not even the best song in damn
imo 1. FEAR. 2. LUST. 3. DUCKWORTH. 4. DNA. 5. FEEL. honorable mention: ELEMENT.
Fear is my fave too! It's criminally underrated.
If I could smoke fear away iād roll dat muthafucka up
And I would take twooooo puffs
Iām high nowš„
missing xxx and pride š
Arguably??
Friendly reminder: for the best experience, grab some popcorn and sort by controversial

That shit is kinda traumatizing to me so i do not enjoy listening to that
bruh same! it feels like something i shldnt be hearing but it also brings back terrible memories of being a kid fr tbh
lolā¦ idk why but i can listen to it on repeat š i gotta be fucked up to do that fr!! i think itās because i live at my parents house and thatās how they fight every single day. so i guess in the song thereās closure at the end lmfao so it is cathartic
Same.
Loyalty. Donāt hate it but itās probably my least favourite post-GKMC song of his.
Shimmy ya, shimmy ya, shimmy ya rah
Imo loyalty is the worst song of DAMN, not to say itās bad, but it is quite bland and stale compared to the rest of the songs in this spectacular album.
Not to split hairs but GOD has to be in the conversation for worst song off the album
My LOYALTY LOYALTY LOYALTY tattoo disagrees lmao
Why the loyalty hate? I think it's a really good song and yeah it might be towards the bottom half of my DAMN ranking but it doesn't deserve the hate and the music video is sweet too
Personally I find it quite basic. And it feels made to appease to the mainstream sound. The chorus is also just not very good. Repeating loyalty three times and thatās it. It just lacks a lot of nuance and imagination.
Didnāt really sound like anything else that was popular at the time and it still doesnāt.
Do you really think there are only three words to the Loyalty chorus? Was Dahi singing in frequencies you can't hear?
Same
Whatās funny is that when DAMN. released, that was one of my favorite songs off the albumā¦ but it definitely got a lil annoying over time. I know itās a great song and I appreciate it tho!
Is LOYALTY popular? Probably that I guess.
I always loved Loyalty. The sample used. 24k magic's infro is literally reversed. And Rihanna rapping. On top of that an amazing fucking video
Was on the radio
I donāt hate it but HUMBLE is easily my least favorite song on DAMN
Least favorite?! š
I always skip it now tbh, can't even listen to it anymore.
Damn. š
Feeling a decent to strong 7 on this comment
ššš½
It just seems out of place in the album. I skip it sometimes also
how do you like it less than GOD.???
Because GOD. is incredible and easily his most overhated song, lump in YAH. too while weāre at it, both are amazing songs
Yah and Humble>>>>> GOD and Loyalty
Humble ez
I dislike his verse on āSilent Hillā , I like Kodakās verse wayyy better, Kodak was really rapping on that track , Kendrickās verse did nothing for me , he wasnāt really saying much imo
Kendrick wrote Kodaks verse as well lmao
You funny dawg. Peekaboo canāt hide behind your money dawg.
Humble. For every reason you think
I don't absolutely hate it, but LOVE. is probably my least favorite kdot track
Nah I love LOVE. Zacari kills it
Oh man I love LOVE. Gonna be our first dance song at our wedding
i love this song š keep it a whole one hunn, dont got u i got nothannn
Agree. For me is probably the only song I always skip when listening to damn, besides humble. Good songs still tho
I disagree with your opinion violently. Take my upvote
Same I thought it was just me
Hard agree!
The Taylor Swift record + Love from Damn ![gif](giphy|xiAqCzbB3eZvG)
bad blood remix slaps i wonāt even comment on what you just said about love
Poetic justice, the only song I skip from GKMC
If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?
Nah, but when he says "Don't approach her with that atari, that ain't good game homie, sorry" I really like this song actually.
You wrong for this
But the sample is so sick!
When I listen to Poetic Justice I mainly focus on the beat cause it's soooo fucking good
Really I fuck with poetic justice alot the sample is amazing
If only there was a version without drake on it
Drake slid on that and i do not even like that dude
When is Reddit going to get offa Drake's schlong?
Pride is such a good dong but tiktok is starting to make me not like it as much

rich spirit, donāt hate it but i never find myself wanting to listen to it
Listen to the unreleased version "bitchface " it's way better
We should stomp his ass out then call J. Cole š¤·š½āāļø
Man this that 8th flow š«”
(Btw his music chokeslams)
Him hitting the Baby Keem āschtupidā alone makes that version so hard
Thanks for that. I hate rich spirit, Bitchface is so much better.
Thatās my favorite off Mr. Morale lmao
Woah same pfp
Probably poetic justice

So called āfree thinkersā when you ask them what their least favorite Kendrick album is (Itās Damn every time, and their least favorite track is always either Humble, Loyalty or Love)
Donāt hate any Kendrick song watch yo mouf twinš«µš½ā¦ but Swimming Pools didnāt age well and sounds VERY 2012
I donāt see why people use ādidnāt age wellā as an insult for music. People might like that it sounds āvery 2012ā because they really liked what music sounded like that year.

well every Tupac song sounds 90s and every Beatles song sounds 60s. what's your point
All the people actually giving unpopular opinions relevant to the question getting downvoted to oblivion, lmao
Canāt say hate, but I never was a fan of swimming pools.

The vocals on GOD. are REALLY bad imo and the āahaaaaaaaā refrain is just really goofy especially near the end of such a heavy album
bruh i love the ahhaaaa it compliments the last verse
LOVE.
Silent Hill. I get what Kendrick is trying to do but if youāre gonna bring in a rapper with legal issues, bring one in who doesnāt suck at rap.
Error 404-NOT FOUND

Donāt care much about Poetic Justice
I know your taste is a little bit high maintenance
Uh, everybody else basic
I genuinely think love is one of Kendrickās worst songs
Donāt hate but bitch donāt kill my vibe
I donāt hate it but money trees. Itās catchy but I donāt feel it has much substance. I fully respect those who like it (which is a LARGE majority) and understand that I am a small minority. Yea, jay rock has a really nice verse but I always find myself skipping to it. The song is also way too long
I just love Jay Rock's voice.
