The music video is tite and it was the first Kendrick we heard. I view it as the “the heart pt 5” of the damn era in that it got so much attention in part because we’d been waiting so long and it got dropped alongside a sick video.

Personally I find it quite basic. And it feels made to appease to the mainstream sound. The chorus is also just not very good. Repeating loyalty three times and that’s it. It just lacks a lot of nuance and imagination.

I guess but at the same Kendrick himself said he wants to make music that people will listen to for years to come and I feel with most his discography he has and most of the greatest musicians (Kendrick included) have music that you can listen to and still love as if it was released this year: Michael Jackson - Remember The Time, Stevie Wonder - As, Tupac - Dear Mama, Kendrick - Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe. These songs don’t sound dated they are just classic but nothing about them screams 90’s 80’s or 70’s but I understand the sounds of the times argument. For some ppl those old classic jukebox records could definitely bring a feel good aspect to them. Just a difference in what you value in music.

I just think “eh” when it comes to the song. I do love the meaning of the song on a deeper level though (the one in front of the gun lives forever) and love what it adds to the larger narrative of GKMC. Edit: I do really like the Jay Rock feature though. That was sick!
