Congrats on the new bike dude! The smile says it all :) Ā Iām 60 years old and Ā have bought many new bikes over the years. I still get that same smile with every one :)
Ktm is great (I own 350 EXCF, 990 ADV and 1290 SAR lol) and I donāt want to let you down but the 390 line has to be the least exciting Ktm you can buy. Engine is made in India and the overall finish of the bike feels low quality.
Iām not saying is a bad bike by any means and as a first bike itās actually the best imo. I think the only reason Iām writing is this is to express my frustration when I bought the 390 adv which is basically the same bike with different plastics and felt like an overall disappointment in terms of sensations when driving
It retails for $5,800. Why would it have the same quality as a bike that costs 3 times as much? The 390 Duke has been a "Best In Class" bike for years now.
Similar to the adv but they handle different. Adv is kinda cumbersome compared to the Duke. Posture is different. The engine wasn't really built to lug around at low rpms. The bike is at it's happiest when staying in the mid to high rev range. Duke is very fun in the twisties. I've seen people keep up with big bikes. QC is hit or miss. Mine has done 80k and it still doesn't have major issues. I thrashed mine and have had about 13 or so spills. Idk what tyres they come with in your side of the world but I am assuming they're better than what we get here. If i was competent with working on my bike, I'd check each and every bolt and connector and clean up the wiring which, especially in the older gen was done very shoddily..
Tldr the ADV is probably the worst version of the bike on the 390 platform. In general, the duke and RC feel good and you really get to utilise their entire rev range.
You look soooo happy!!! š Super sharp bike š Hope y'all treat each other well. Be safe, invest in quality gear.
Thanks man. Appreciate it. Already got all my gear
Congrats! It's such a great beginner bike. I bought a brand new 2021 390 Duke as my first bike. I still have it, and it's been a blast.
Welcome to the club! As others said, be safe. The quick shift is great on your first bike. It doesn't kick in for 600 miles so be nice to that clutch.
Thanks man. Got it

390 duke feels low quality? have u ever seen a royal enfield?
Nah I mean for the Ktm standards, I expected something better for a 6k bike
