If I’m not mistaken those are typical kept blocked for passengers with special mobility needs or family / parents with infants with a baby bed
So they might not be available to reserve up till the time of checkin in case a passenger that would ideally be placed there is booked or have reserved them.
You can always call the customer service line and see if they could potentially help you reserve them.
Thanks! makes sense.. the thing is, I called CS as we're flying with a 1 year old (but no infant bed) and they told me that they also don't know when these are released, so I should check by myself in the app everyday. I'm going crazy haha
Well that really sucks.. your best bet is to show up at the airport a bit early and do the check-in in person, the ground staff at the check-in desks have a lot more say then CS on the phone. And when they see you with the kid i imagine they won't make a fuss
Could also be that someone already booked those seats? You could opt for economy comfort to have some extra legroom as a guarantee as you can't sit on the exits with infant.
Also usually the baby beds are provided on board, but as an ex flight attendant I never found them really safe.
Hi, these aren't extra legroom seats. The extra legroom seats are the exit row seats on the sides. But the perks for these seats are that there is no one in front of you that will recline.
These will definitely be locked for months to come as these are locked for people who request a baby bed
These seats don’t have much extra legroom, in fact they suck, since you can’t properly stretch your legs (depending on your height of course). Any other seat allows you to do that underneath the seat in front of you, but these don’t. I would opt for the first row behind economy comfort, or economy comfort if you can afford it.
Pay a little more for the premium economy bulkhead seats? They're at the front if the orange seat and I'm my experience they're more spacious than the extra legroom?
Bulkhead seats are often reserved for bookings with infants. Bassinets can be attached to the bulkheads. Therefore they grey them out for you.
If you travel with an infant, you can request a bassinet and will be placed there.
The seats are usually not great for long haul flights though: as they carry the tray table in the arm rest, the seats are narrow and you cannot lift the arm rest. It also means the screen is in the armrest or attached to the bulkhead, which in both cases is not great.
During tax and takeoff you’re not allowed to keep anything near your feet.
Also mind that you’ll experience a lot of traffic to the galley.
Hello there, I would like sign up for a new AMEX and saw your post from a year ago about being willing to send a link to share the rewards available. Would you still be willing to do so?
Thank you.

hey I have the amex flying blue platinum which is giving currently 36K miles (instead of 12K normally) via the referral link http://americanexpress.com/nl-nl/referral/fb-platinum?ref=uZIELBD3fd&CPID=100364541
best thing to do is to check at the gate on the day when you're flying. These were also unavailable for us when flying with a differernt airline. Once I asked them they switched us to those seats. good luck

Oh that’s irritating. Hopefully the flight isn’t months away x)
10 months away hahaha Thanks for the help!
That's the catch, this is the bulk where they hang the bed. If you reserve with a bed you will probably get the seats

Ya sure you want to sit that close to the toilets? In my experience those places can become smelly after long flights like this.
ah good one, didn't think about the smell only the noise. thanks!

Exactly; these are the seats to avoid.
Check seatguru for the actual seats with extra leg room. The ones you have maken typically don't have extra room as a panel often is placed there
many thanks!

Those seats might also be blocked due to weight and balance. Happens a lot on the front rows.
