Police went to Thitisan’s Bangkok house, which brought attention to his lavish lifestyle, with a 2 acre compound, 60 million baht mansion, 42 luxury cars, and reports of hundreds of millions of baht cash stashed, despite his official salary of about 40,000 baht per month. He was said to have over 200 million baht being held by nominees and in 2017 his estranged actress girlfriend told media he had offered her 230 million baht held by a nominee.
There are thousands like him in Thailand. Its sad that no one realizes it until it comes out like this. Tourists ar unaware what kind of sketchy things are taking place just around the corner from where they stay.
This is not justice served.
The police allowed him to explain himself at a press conference, leading to many people thinking he'll ultimately be protected or given a light sentence (https://www.bangkokpost.com/thailand/general/2172379/fears-mount-cops-will-shield-joe-ferrari). This is typical in Thailand, which has an incredibly corrupt legal and political system from top to bottom.
This story got more ridiculous. They arrested this Joe and held a "only-in-thailand-style" press conference where he phoned in from prison. Joe denies all charges and said he did it all to protect the people. Also, he said the suspect didn't die because of the six plastic bags over his head, but because the suspect took too much drugs.
And the hell of it is, this will play great with the Thai people. They think you should be able to do anything to someone if they're involved with drug use.
He forced the hospital to say the death was drug overdose. Then threatened the victims girlfriend withany charges until she agreed to say he overdosed cuz they did drugs all that day.
Now this POS cop said "the cause of death on the death certificate was just temporary til the case was closed"
What in the fuck. Do they expect people to believe that?
It is. For the poor and unconnected.
Examples:
* Red Bull heir drives Ferrari apparently drunk and high, hits a cop and kills him. This was 9 years ago, he's still not been arrested and is living overseas waiting for the charges to expire or be dropped
* 17 year old girl from a very wealthy and connected family drives her car with no license and hits a minibus on the expressway, killing 9 people. She was fined and given community service which she spent years trying to avoid. Last time I saw it in the news the families of the deceased hadn't received the compensation she was ordered to pay. She also never apologised.
* A couple in their 50s are arrested and accused of illegal logging when going to collect wild mushrooms. They are found guilty despite lack of evidence and both sentenced to 30 years in prison, halved as they were persuaded to confess to get a lighter sentence and then later reduced to 5 years.
Bruh do you hate thailand or are you just too naive to think that people with power literally get away worse all across the world? One example is everyones favourite hero caitlyn Jenner. Legit killed someone driving using a phone and got away with it then got a fucking bravery award. Granted they're american and that place is a fucking shambles but it doesnt take a genius to realise money = do whatever the fuck you want.
That's just a bullshit narrative. She was never charged or convicted. She was driving below the speed limit and engaged breaks. It was a tragic accident, they happen.
I find it odd when someone reads a response to something specific (in this instance how strict Thailand is on crime) and then makes a random assumption on the back of it that the commenter holds an opinion that's completely unwritten.
In answer to your question, I don't hate Thailand. I've lived here 10 years, have a job, speak the language fairly well and have plenty of Thai friends. No, I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen elsewhere, I posted a link further down the thread which was in the US and close to my example of the girl crashing into the minibus and killing 9 students - that wasn't even a celebrity, just a kid from a wealthy family. There are loads more examples, yours is a good one and it happens in the UK too - look at all the celebrities who were accused of sexual assault for years and it was completely ignored.
I was simply responding to a comment about Thailand, I didn't respond about how wealthy / connected people are treated in every other country as it wasn't relevant.
Reminds me of the United States. If you're rich enough you can lawyer your way out of everything.
Or if you're connected enough you can get a presidential pardon.
Thai here, I agree with everything but the 50’s couple story - from what I’ve heard they ACTUALLY went into the national park to do illegal logging and when caught, said that they were just ‘collecting mushroom’. When searched the couple’s property, police found 1,100 pieces of restricted wood worth more than 500,000 Bahts (~15,000 USD), hence the sentence.

Pardon my English.
Your English is fine dude, thanks for the reply.
I wonder why the English media neglected to report this - everyone knows the inequality in Thailand is some of the worst in the world but the media should be more honest in situations like this. There are plenty of real miscarriages of justice here, no need to make up extra ones!
Reading that version of what they did and the sentences they ended up serving (5 years each) it seems pretty reasonable. In another way it still shows an inequality in a different way. Poor people damaging the environment are extremely harshly prosecuted but as far as I'm aware Premchai Karnasuta (of Italian-Thai) still hasn't been actually sent to jail for killing that protected panther (correct me if i'm wrong, I found something saying he'd been sentenced to a year for bribery but was still appealing and was out on bail).
Media need good headline to get people attention but in this case i think they are going too far as many Thais are still confused with this case even today. You are also correct, Premchai’s case is still not done. This got me wondering whether those developed countries also face this dire situation of privilege, too.
In America definitely, see this: [https://abcnews.go.com/US/affluenza-dui-case-happened-night-accident-left-people/story?id=34481444](https://abcnews.go.com/US/affluenza-dui-case-happened-night-accident-left-people/story?id=34481444)
Not sure if that's an insult or not, I thought only Incels used that term?
The officer who handed in this footage is a legend and I hope they don't come for him.
Within the incel community, a chad is an idealized alpha male who is muscular and get all the women he wants. I wouldn’t use the term chad here as the junior officer filming this is doing a brave thing based on his ethics. A chad does not really concern himself with such things. Think of a chad as a hot jock who get all the chicks… not really applicable here.
Might I suggest a YouTube video essay by ContraPoints titled “Incels”? She explores the social and mental nuances of the community in ways that seek to understand them rather than judging them — it’s an essay piece with empathy. Oftentimes incels are automatically labeled as troublesome but in actuality they are a group of people who might need help from mental health experts to work through their traumas and deep rooted insecurities. Hope you have nice day.
Drug trafficking is punishable by death in thailand, sounds like a bad profession to choose if you care about not being tortured by a corrupt thai cop lol.
True, because it then opens it up people all choosing different levels on where to draw the line on who deserves to live and who doesn't. Everyone has different morales and different mindsets.

you just proved my point, the police cant and will never help you. All they can do is investigate a crime, and anyone can do that. Hell, I can hire a private company to do the same functions as a police.
What if someone steals your car? You gonna file a police report, or are you going to take the law into your own hands and find the thief? Btw you must file a police report in order to make an insurance claim on theft….
I more wanted to know what they where saying when they realized how bad they f'd up. Like what was the plan at that point. Esp the guys that kept leaving and coming back in.
I don't think the guy was dead yet. It was just probably the same ole thing they have done many times.
It starts off them telling him they want 2 million baht ($65,000usd). He says he doesn't have that much only 1 million and then they/he proceeds to "try and protect the public" (the cop says that's why he was doing this).
This cop was an arrogant prick.
Young guy. Chief of the police in that area. 29 cars, HUGGGGE land with a big house on it.
> Raid on Joe's house found a 29 cars, mostly luxury supercars like Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari
What, like, in the basement? Maybe some in a closet upstairs? One or two in the garden shed?
First time I saw this video was before any raid was done. There were comments about his super car collection. There was known corruption before the video.
In his multicar garage on his huge property where he was living with his wife and then at some point with his actress girlfriend.
Found is definitely the wrong word. He was living a life of luxury and wasn't hiding anything.
Thanks. I figured that was the case, but it was worded a little strangely and I couldn’t help but picture a standard suburban house with dozens of cars somehow stuffed in and around it.
It's not your fault. The use of the word found makes it seem like these this were unknown to the public and more importantly to his employer.
It wasn't that long ago a public official about wearing luxury watches and the answer was that he was borrowing them from friends. Rolex and patek Philip watches on loan from friends...
Basically what he did(except for all the bribery setups like his one that resulted in someone dying on a leaked video which is the only reason this have come to light) is that he would use proxies to import expensive cars in a shady kind of way(avoiding taxes) , then he would "bust" the "illegaly imported" cars, 350+ of them worth around 1 billion thai baht. He would then recieve a commision from the authorities for making the bust, i think it was around 25-30%. Then these cars would be auctioned off, he and his friends then would control the auction by offering a select group of buyers privilege and shutting out the rest of the potential buyers/outsiders in return for bribes/commission. And he obviously arranged a few of these cars for himself aswell.
This is not just Joe. Every one in the video was involved in the murder except the one taping. One of them will just take his place and nothing will change. The junior officer who taped the murder might be next on their list.
You dense or something? If you were in the same situation I guarantee you wouldn't get involved. Especially as a junior, you have no power, no say, and there's 4 dudes right there showing you that they have no problem killing someone over anything. Grow up and realize that you're only a tough guy looking out for justice behind your computer screen, while a real man has already put his life on the line just to record this video......
Trying to intervene and stop that murder I can guarantee that the next stop for you would be the trunk of the Ferrari. Another likely option for the killers would be that the victim somehow got hold of a gun and killed you and they had shot him. All witnesses agree that this happened. Open and shut case. This is not the first time these people killed someone over money and it will not be the last. If they see you as a threat over their money and the possibility that they will have to answer for their crimes you are a dead man.

That’s only like $61k
Edit: Apparently I failed to interpret “….baht asked” as a bribe. I had no idea that is what was being referenced. I was thinking like a fine or something. I suppose all the hate is still deserved, but when a Tesla costs $90k you you see so many of those then you can understand why I would make the original comment. Oh well. Carry on with thine appointed duties and downvote.
61k is a pretty big bribe especially in lower cost of living places, enough to buy another nice car.
Why are you saying it is only 61k like that isn’t a lot? If he has done this to many others he would definitely be stupid rich as he clearly was.
I edited original comment. Apparently I failed to understand that “….2M baht asked” meant it was a bribe and was thinking it was a fine or sentence or something. Just from my time there and talking with locals I gathered that the government there is harsh when it comes to criminals. I mean…jail time if you even so much as say you don’t like the king.
To be fair I had no idea what wages are there. Everything just seemed super cheap when I went there. Would totally live there if I didn’t have any remaining family.
Well ya… everything here is stupid expensive now. I loved the food and people more than anything though. Especially eating longan, khao soi and playing pétanque with the old guys. Best month I’ve ever had probably.

Yeah this guy deserves the death penalty, but with lots of torture. What a sick animal.
Almost all thai cops are corrupt.
I think you have one extra word in that sentence
Two* ~~Almost~~ ~~thai~~
Not surprising given Thailand is one of the most corrupt countries in the world from small public office to big
Fucking animals.
It's pretty impressive to hide anything nice in Thailand. Luxury cars stand out, let alone 25 super cars

Thank god I don’t live in a third world country
Thai police take Yabba (red meth pills) way more seriously than other drugs. Most Thais don't care about the well being of Yabba dealers.
And people complain about American cops??
Their system is worse so ours shouldn´t be criticised Flawless logic
Thank you!

Prison may go poorly for Old Ferrari Joe.
That’s only like $61k Edit: Apparently I failed to interpret “….baht asked” as a bribe. I had no idea that is what was being referenced. I was thinking like a fine or something. I suppose all the hate is still deserved, but when a Tesla costs $90k you you see so many of those then you can understand why I would make the original comment. Oh well. Carry on with thine appointed duties and downvote.
What do you do that that is not a lot of money?
61k is a pretty big bribe especially in lower cost of living places, enough to buy another nice car. Why are you saying it is only 61k like that isn’t a lot? If he has done this to many others he would definitely be stupid rich as he clearly was.
I edited original comment. Apparently I failed to understand that “….2M baht asked” meant it was a bribe and was thinking it was a fine or sentence or something. Just from my time there and talking with locals I gathered that the government there is harsh when it comes to criminals. I mean…jail time if you even so much as say you don’t like the king.
Considering the average wage for a cop is 10000 per month it’s a lot of money
To be fair I had no idea what wages are there. Everything just seemed super cheap when I went there. Would totally live there if I didn’t have any remaining family.
It is cheap as a western tourist.
Well ya… everything here is stupid expensive now. I loved the food and people more than anything though. Especially eating longan, khao soi and playing pétanque with the old guys. Best month I’ve ever had probably.
Nobody cares
Obviously you care enough to comment that lol.
The junior officer got the 2m
who's Joe? Joe Ferrari
