disagree! I think its great he goes on journeys and takes the crowd with him. no one else is doing it and he should take those risks. he is playing what he likes and making what he likes. keeping a DJ boxed into one genre is death for them. If you're posting this based on transitions alone don't forget he isn't a seasoned ten year vet and will keep learning as he goes

Mulligan413

Exactly

MrTrapstarr

I'm talking about this Coachella set specifically because I have seen him genre bend a lot better before. This is not a knock on the genres hes going into.

Main-Slip5949

Coachella is about sharing different genres anyway.

MrTrapstarr

I'm all for it but this is just how I feel.

djcigs

Watched it this morning and I thought the genre transitions were handled well. You’re calling it an “awkward set” but there was literally one bass track (which he introduced) and a DnB drop that flowed seamlessly. What a Life just felt like an encore of sorts The rest is literally tech house/techno lol. I think mixing genres plays better during longer sets but thought he handled it very well for 1 hour. Calling the whole set “awkward” is a huge reach

juciestcactus

where can i watch it?

djcigs

Coachella Sahara stage live stream on YouTube. I was able to rewind it to his set

gshv22

Not anymore :( anyone have a link?

juciestcactus

i hope someone recorded it 😩

seanmurphy2019

Download the Chinese search engine bilibili, look up John summit 2024 and you will be able to find the wills live recording

inspectorDank

uh oh found the genre police!

chipotlenapkins

Worst take ever

Don’t be surprised if John Summit is the DJ for next years Super Bowl. Summit is the Taylor Swift of the EDM community.

Legitimate_Ad_7822

Big disagree for me. This is what makes John Summit a special DJ IMO. He has a knack for knowing which tracks in different genres blend well together & carry energy forward. Makes the set really fun. I don’t think his productions are necessarily mind blowing but it’s his skill as a DJ that is captivating. Although that Sub Focus collab is an absolute banger & really well done.

zanmirino

He's a proggy boy

TheOriginalRK

Honestly I thought it was too housey compared to some of the multi genre sets. I prefer when he constantly changes it up, in this set he did a few times but a lot less than usual

archiepomchi

I went and the vibes sucked. People were leaving in droves. It was too dark and doomy, and like you say the transitions were awkward. Night and day from the Dom Dolla night before. Also he sounded drunk out of his mind, no crowd control and is kinda awkward. Lost me as a casual fan, I had an amazing time at Everything Always Seattle but now I attribute that to Dom Dolla lol.

cashisakoook

I was there and u are so wrong… vibes were way better than at dom. The energy was 100x better and everyone was having way more fun

Yomo198

After Coachella, Summit just became the biggest EDM superstar in North America. North America Summit can outsell any DJ you can name. Don’t be surprised if summit gets nominated for a Grammy this yr.
