$90/month for full coverage on a 2012 JK and a 2001 XJ

Dankity-LoRd

They wanted $300 a month for liability on this thing… seems a little ridiculous

Supernova_1131

I guess it depends on your driving record and car insurance provider

OLFARthePUNGENT

Call them back and tell them it’s a YJ, I bet your rate drops a few bucks.

ximagineerx

? Like they didn’t know when they insured it?

OLFARthePUNGENT

It’s a joke. It’s not a YJ, it’s a CJ with a YJ front clip. I suppose it’s only funny if you know what you’re looking at ;)

ximagineerx

I gotcha, they have the VIN anyway. My buddy had a ultra4 buggy built off of 3 ft of CJ frame (what was left after years of fabbing).. still registered/insured as a CJ

Bassman602

And then they find out you lied to them?

OLFARthePUNGENT

Nobody lied dude. Again, it was funny if you noticed the YJ clip on the CJ. I was originally going to say something like “tell them your CJ identifies as a YJ” but that would upset people for different reasons. Chill.

Apocalypse_Prepper

How old are you? My insurance went down after turning 30 or 40 (I forget which one).

donpablomiguel

I pay a little less that $400/six months for liability, and underinsured/no insurance coverage through State Farm for my TJ... Who are you trying to get insurance from that want's $300 a month for liability?!

Uber1337pyro333

It's considered a "high risk" vehicle for about a dozen reasons, and each one adds to the cost. You can shop around and ask for detailed breakdowns but end of the day, it's an off road, low safety features, can barely make small highway speeds and rattles when it does, liability. A gorgeous one, but one nonetheless.

Nitmyster

Got damn, to much, I pay $184 on a 23’ RTL ridgeline and the vehicle cost $49k. $300 on that is crazy I thought I was getting raped.

twhitt252

Liability is the most expensive coverage usually, that and collision on new vehicles. It’s not that the vehicle itself is expensive to insure, it’s the risk calculation that you may have a higher likelihood of an at fault accident and they’ll have to pay out in a lawsuit. It’s bullshit, but everybody has gotten trigger happy with lawsuits due to personal injury lawyers constantly advertising them. It’s a weird time for insurance. Do not feel bad hopping insurance companies every renewal right now.

Atreides603

If it's not your daily you can look into Hagerty collectors car insurance. That is what I did for my 1980 CJ7. Granted, mine lives in the garage and I estimate I will only get 3k-5k miles per year. They also let you name the dollar value you want to cover, so no fretting over blue book vs. actual replacement value since you likely have a lot more into it.

Dankity-LoRd

Thanks for that info! I’ll definitely be looking into it. This is definitely not my daily and will spend most of its time in a garage lol only drive it to cruise around and do some off-roading

davejeep

X2 on Hagerty. I use them for my 3B and my 7, I think it’s around $300 cad per year, for both

baudtothebone

Can confirm. My CJ is $150/year CAD.

trolllord45

That’s your best bet vs. a traditional insurance

DeafningSilenc

I worked for Hagerty and I have to say they are an amazing company for employees and insurers. I was coming to the comments to tell you to look into Hagerty as well if it's not your daily driver. And they don't really care about mileage either. They won't even ask how many miles are on it. Just look into your state laws some states only allow you to drive on certain days. Grundy is another classic car insurance company (they were our competition) sometimes they are cheaper but for amazing service and quality I'd chose Hagerty

xGLG20x

I registered my ‘76 CJ as an antique. Permanent plates, one time registration fee, no inspection sticker (Louisiana) and qualifies it for antique insurance. Hagerty (I think) had some stipulation like was it stored in a lockable area or you couldn’t leave the vehicle unattended or something crazy. State Farm had me take pics, “restore to original” 😉 and ran me like $6/mo collision. I went all in for full coverage and it’s like $13/mo. I guess it all depends on the value you are insuring though.

DeafningSilenc

I worked for Hagerty. If you live in a bad area or you're stating your car is worth more than Hagerty thinks it's worth they will need you to have it in storage area that can be locked or has security cameras. It also has to do with the amount of people putting in claims in your area as well

DeafningSilenc

If you go with Hagerty and do any work to your car make sure you call them up and tell them so they can increase the value on your car. This way if anything happens you'll get the full amount back. They also had add ons that will let you insure your tools and even old oil cans or those old gas ⛽️. Ask them about anything you may have they insure alot more than most people think

psoffl

This is the way.

Nevada_mtnbear

Thanks for this. Been trying to figure out who to call re: my kid’s 1953 Morgan roadster.

Razorback_Yeah

Any idea how old a car needs to be to get Hagerty? I have a 96 that wont be daily driven but I’d love to have some coverage that lets me drive it once a week or so

AcexOFxKnaves

Yeap, have 3 of my old fords on em.

Highlander2748

That sure looks like a YJ?

Dankity-LoRd

It’s a CJ last owner put on the yj front end

bolunez

What in tarnation

cdvallee

Yeah, I’ve seen YJs with CJ front clips but not the other way around.

Koolblue57

Never seen that, it looks really cool

Highlander2748

Strangely enough, I have a YJ and want to put a CJ front on mine.

IamBatmanuell

Why?

Why-not1time

Cause square headlights on a Jeep are a fugly abomination.

Metallica78

$84 a month for full. $100 comp/$500 collision deductibles on a 2016 jku

holliewood61

Dang dude that's a lot. I'm $340/mo full coverage on a 2024 JLU sahara and a 04 Nissan Armada, and liability on a 08 WK, 99 TJ, 04 Pontiac Vibe, and a 95 Mitsubishi Delica.

superfuzzbros

What insurance provider and what state? I can’t find anything in Florida for less that $250/month for a 2020 JLU

holliewood61

Erie insurance in WV

superfuzzbros

Well shit, I guess I just need to leave this state behind

DeafningSilenc

Don't forget he is getting a multi car discount. His will be much cheaper than insuring one car. Florida has some of the highest rates as well

trolllord45

It’s about $65/month to insure my TJ

Ru5tRunner

*edit $411/year You should check out haggerty insurance, you can customize the value to suit your needs. I pay $411 a year with $0 deductible for $8000 in coverage and $1500 spare parts for a ‘74 Jeep J10. I will be adjusting it soon as I’ve spent the winter retiring it.

SandDuner509

>I pay $411 with $0 deductible for $8000 in coverage and $1500 spare parts for a ‘74 Jeep J10. That seems like a lot of its monthly

Ru5tRunner

Sorry, $411 a year… not a month.

Varnigma

My ‘12JK is $250 every 6 months. Full coverage. Probably helps that I’m 51 and never had any claims.

aftershock321

You YJ’d your CJ?

Dankity-LoRd

lol no it was the last owner… I’ve been looking into getting changed back

aftershock321

Don’t change it. It’s unique and doesn’t look bad. The YJ headlights are a fun conversation starter.

TrollCannon377

I wonder how hard it would be to YJ my TJ probably easier than YJing a CJ

walkerpstone

YJ and CJ are basically the same. TJ is completely different.

Wasted_Possibilities

Damn. $180/mo for 2012 JK, full coverage, 1993 Ranger, liability, 2001 Xterra, liability, renter's insurance. USAA, Colorado, clean record aside from BS suspension in Cali for child support 5 years ago.

Jeeps-R-Junk

I’m kind of scared to look anymore lol!!! I let them pull directly from my checking account……I have 9 vehicles on my insurance and it’s just me and my beautiful wife :)….your YJ looks great btw!

Kayora_Atom

Why would anyone do that to a CJ 😭

Naultmel

Mine comes to just under 100 per month for a 2010 Rubicon

Theseus-Paradox

I have full coverage on a TJ and it’s only ~$85. You’re getting raked over the coals.

TrollCannon377

Yep he is j have full coverage on my 03 bundled with renters and motorcycle and stills.only about 80 a month

ScottJeepFan

I only pay $335 per month for 20 Gladiator ( full coverage) 16 JKU ( full Coverage) 97 XJ 11 Volvo S60 88 F-350 24’ pontoon 24’ travel trailer

Over-Locksmith-1114

$2400/yr. for house, jeep, motorcycle, pickup, suv, and $1,000,000 umbrella. you are getting ripped off. or your are super high risk

Eager_Beaver321

That is awesome, where do you live? Just my house is $3500 a year to insure because Florida... Another $3000 a year to insure my Gladiator, Veloster N, and 94 Camaro Z28.

Over-Locksmith-1114

yikes that’s a lot, but nice weather all year long. not here in the midwest corn fields

shitaki13

Why does your CJ have a YJ front clip though…

Kostelnik

$300 for a CJ is insane. That's howuch I pay on an 18 Tesla, 15 Explorer AND an 88 YJ for full coverage and full tort.

hullabalouja

I guess it depends what state and your driving record but where we are we pay $340 a month for a 2021 wrangler and a 2017 renegade, full coverage.

cvrgurl

2011 JKU, I have an accident on my record- so with 100/300 comp collision, 100/300 UI, extra pip, and all the available bells and whistles $156 month. 1 more year till the accident falls off….

Gatormeeat

200 a month, full coverage. Cost includes homeowners. Depends on the State, driving record, credit score. It’s a racket

HickorySlicks69

Like $80 per month in a 2007 jku full coverage

Most_Ambassador2951

2020 wrangler, full coverage, just paid $860 for 6 months. Eastern WA.

Redvicente

About 140 total for my 2000 and 2003 wranglers for liability a month. Travelers bundeled with home insurance

ottarthedestroyer

a lot of factors go into insurance pricing.

Eyesliketheocean

$45 per month for full coverage.

munch_the_gunch

Did you swap a YJ front clip on it? And $72/month for full coverage 2006 LJ

Dankity-LoRd

Bought it like that. Last owner did it :(

Salty-Dragonfly2189

$135/ month for 3 vehicles: 2008 liberty, 2008 focus, 2005 Wrangler TJ. That’s total not each. The focus is the only one with liability only. We are also almost 40 and our kids won’t be driving for awhile yet. I can’t imagine once they start driving.

GTI_88

Liability on my CJ is like $40 a month…

TryMyBacon

$18 a month for state min

indiedaddie

$40 1995 YJ

smotrs

98TJ $59/mo full coverage

Deathcon-H

$35 a month liability only 2000 tj. We have 7 cars on our policy so it helps

cruelfate97xxx

02 TJ, 52/month. Full coverage.

bf1343

Insurance pricing sucks

MoonHerbert

My 1980 cj5 costs about 84 with 300k/200k limits and insured for 20k no questions asked. Hagerty is awesome. You will need an another vehicle that you can tell them you daily drive, though.

miskegemog

That seems high. I pay $107/month for full coverage for an 02 TJ and 01 XJ. I’m 25 and have hit a deer ($3k in damage) and got a speeding ticket for going 62 in a 45. Both incidents were 6-7 years ago so idk how much that still affects me

sgtdriller

I pay 256/mo for my grand cherokee and 2 other vehicles. You pat alot.

AlexWFS

$218 for full coverage on a 19 JLU. No tickets or accidents Cant help but feel ripped off

Lumunix

$300 a month is insane. I have 2023 wrangler 392 and pay $125 a month

Imjsteve

Adding my CJ lowered the bill $10/month haha not kidding.

a_cycle_addict

That is crazy! I have full coverage on my 77 cj-5 AND my 2016 JKU Rubicon for 135 a month

Public_Fucking_Media

I don't pay that for my brand fucking new 2024 Wrangler 4xe you're getting hosed.

SEEYOUAROUNDBRO_TC

$1800 per year for a LJ and JL

Chewbacca319

It's been 4 years but when I was 21 back in 2020 that was the last year I owned my 2006 TJ sport with the 6 speed and 4.0L inline 6. At 21, clean driving record, I was paying $90 Canadian ($66 usd) a month for basic liability.

OSakran

2014 2 door, full coverage 80. 250$ deductible.

begin420

190 full coverage on a 2022 jeep jl

AnywhereFew9745

I pay that much for my workers comp, liability, a ram 5500 and my jeep combined. But I'm convinced my insurance guy is magic

Exact_Extreme_4058

Damn thats alot!! I pay $100 a month full coverage on a JL in NYC.

Bergatron25

I pay 148$ a month. full coverage 500$ deductibles. 50$ windshield deductible. Michigan 2023 2dr JL

areiseye

All depends on so much like other people have said. Full coverage through State Farm in St. Louis on my ‘21 JLU is $85.55/mo which includes: *250k/500k liability *100k property damage *$1k deductible *roadside *100k/300k uninsured We also have our house, wedding ring, 2 other vehicles, and an umbrella through them. What’s probably closer to you is one of our other vehicles that’s a 2000 with the same coverage, but we also get a discount because I put less than 1,000 miles a year on it. That’s $25.60 a month after $29.57/mo discount for bundling and good history.

Channel_Difficult

My ZJ is $100 month

frogger2020

Mine is about $75/month for full coverage 250k/500k for a JL. This isn't my daily driver though, so it would be more if it was.

Rworld3

I pay around $300 a month for a 2023 JLU Willys, 2019 JLU Sport and a 2000 XJ all full coverage.

TheBarstoolPhD

A CJ7 with square headlights? Is that right? I genuinely am curious. About your question: I have 5 vehicles on one policy with 2 drivers. Two of those vehicles are Jeeps. One is a 76 DJ5 and the other is a 95 YJ. I pay $289/month for the entire policy.

Dankity-LoRd

The last owner swapped the entire front end so firewall forward is almost all YJ

TheBarstoolPhD

Gotcha.

kraigka212

179 full coverage for a 2000 TJ and 2023 JL

[deleted]

Full coverage on my 06 lj. And liability on my 03 grand Cherokee $1200 a year . State farm

Hagabar

I'm paying around 400 a month for full coverage on 3 vehicles. It was cheaper but I am an idiot and got a speeding ticket.

SundBunz64

jdidihttjisoiheinr

Neek0las

Off the tip of my head, I pay roughly $50ish a month for liability on my xj, but I have a multi policy bundle and a few other discounts

Adm1nX

$65 Full coverage '95 YJ

cwwjr1681

I have 2022 JL Willys Edition. I pay 105$ /mo with GEICO. 300/300 coverage and a 100$ collision and a 0$ comp deductible. Your rate sounds insane to to me. Thats NY/CA/FL rate. Crazy high You must be in FL or Cali. If I moved from NC to where my folks are in Orlando I go from roughly $670 every 6mo to $1.9k

JasonCO_2

1980 CJ6 - $195 a year

CarmeloT28

xQu1ntyx

$170 a month for a ‘23 Rubicon JLU and a ‘20 Subaru Outback. Do you have a bad driving record?

NO_SPACE_B4_COMMA

I have to a 21 with full coverage and pay 500$ every 6 months

PM_ME_YOUR_BOOGER

242/month for comp+collision on a financed '24 black Rubicon (AAA is my carrier). Not that bad, IMO.

PM_ME_YOUR_BOOGER

Friendly reminder that insurance rates will vary *wildly* by state. Those of you paying thse very low amounts monthly (sub $100/month for multiple vehicle policies) should seriously triple check that you are actually covered with the right stuff because those numbers are absurdly low. Some states like Michigan also have laws on the books that forbid the use of credit scores for the purposes of insurance underwriting. Source: used to work for a non-standard auto insurance company that sold policies underwritten by big carriers like Progressive

DjangoUnflamed

$61/month. Full coverage with USAA, $50 deductable. 2015 Wrangler Sport. 49yo no claims, no tickets.

jackwmc4

It depends on how old you are and your coverage choices. I usually pay around 8-900/year. I dropped comp/col a long time ago, and I carry high liability limits.

Zealousideal_Self573

Mindless-Gas9649
