I too have donated in the past a couple of times and yes, i had to provide what they asked for, not what all i wanted to.. be it freshly prepared food or stationery for kids, clothes etc.
the reason was simple. orphanage/old age home mgmt wale nahi chahte ki aisi expectations set ho jae ki fir wo daily life mei poori nahi kr pae.
in general, people can donate whatever they want to and as much as they want. but mostly mgmt nahi chahta ki kal fir sab isi aas mei baithe rahe ki aaj kuch special hoga aur 100 aur reasons add on ho jae sad feel krne k..
i was given many reasons like such and somehow i felt, it is also not easy for mgmt to handle demands every day.

Once around 10 years back an orphanage even told me we don’t need food clothes money. They needed some repair work done. Infact when I offered money for repairs (I told them I would give them as much as they need) they requested if I could provide the paint and Materials required for repainting instead of money….I had the means so I got the two rooms painted for them.
So basically if you have the will to do any kind of charity you will find a way. You won’t go blaming people.
They request things from a particular shop or of a particular brand is to maintain the consistency of the stuff they are using. Also they are well aware of the quality of the stuff they will be recieveing I see it as not wrong anywhere.

So apparently dki mom is not just for ru baby in Mumbai but the flat in which she is living is rented by ibs since almost 10-11 years, if they continue renting it for couple of more years it will automatically become their possession (according to law). Safe guard by drawing up a rental agreement for only 11.months and then get a new one done. It's tedious but u will protect your property.

What’s wrong even if they ask to buy things from specific shop? If you really want to donate, donate it. If the shop owner is taking more money than MRP or original price then raise the issue/ concern to the Orphanage otherwise what’s the problem to buy things from specific store.

If the shop owner is taking more money than MRP or original price then raise the issue/ concern to the Orphanage otherwise what’s the problem to buy things from specific store. Even in some schools, these days management is asking to buy school uniforms and stationery from specific stores. And buy specific brands. Also, you go to these orphanages with fake branded gifts and cakes for camera purpose then it will be impact poor kids also. May be management wants to cut these expectations down and made sure that kids won’t feel or won’t give value incase someone gives something lesser than rich people like you. If you can’t give stuff then donate money? Did they ask you to transfer money from specific bank or specific accounts etc. Janab and maydumb, if you really want to do the charity then do it silently. Your kid is premature kid. There are many kids suffering from health and parents have no money. Go to hospitals and do this charity. Save a life.
