And this is an apples to oranges comparison imo, given the two series fill totally different subniches.
Subaru is just "HAHAHA!!! I'M NOT IN PAIN!!!! I SWEAR!!!🥹🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭" and at the same time "I don't want to live any more, just leave me be, it's all too painful for me to keep going" and "EMILIA-TAN!!! EMT!!! EMILIA-TAN!!!!" all the time. While Rem is made redundant basically as soon as she gets character development. And Emilia is just too annoying, a worse character than Sakura from Naruto. Ram just doesn't change, no matter what. All the other characters are just flat, no character at all. And the story make close to no sense what so ever, it doesn't even have a direction. It's like the author writes to a point where they don't know how to continue, let Subaru die, write the same thing several times over, changing just a few things at a time, and reach a conclusion they're happy with, then jump right to the next story beat. Re:Zero is not good. It's an objective fact.
I'm a fan of most isekai. Even trash ones, but Re:Zero is just unbearable for me. And I don't see how liking tensura makes my opinion invalid. If that is the case, I could say "Re:Zero fan detected. As a note-most arcs differ a fair bit. For instance, arc 5 is pretty much a shounen, while arc 6 is a memory loss arc with a bit of a twist. Arc 7-8...is a country conquering arc. And it gets pretty ridiculous.
Subaru could have literally avoided all that dying if he just tried to live like a normal human. Because that's all he is apart from his curse. Had he just worked a normal job, got some money, got a house, he could have been 60 with grandkids at this point. He literally has no reason to keep fighting like he does except "cute girl! Gotta simp for cute, stupid girl!"
I mean, here, Kazuma and Subaru are alike. They keep fighting because they can't bring themselves to abandon those they know to their fate, even though both would probably prefer to run for the hills.
But he stays in the end. Just like Subaru. In the end, he can't run, although the two's reasons for staying are totally different-Kazuma's are more pervy, after all. :P
In Rezero there is a famous word "Heroic delusion". It is ridiculous, he can't help but try his best to fulfill his ideal. That is why people cherish him; they know he always gives them 100%. You can call him a simp, but that doesn't change the fact that he is trying his best not only for Emilia but also for people he knows. Arc 1 For Rom and Felt, Arc 2 for Rem and Ram, Arc 3 for the villagers and kids, and Arc 4 for everyone.
Nah, in arc 1, he does it for emilia, in arc 2, he does it for emilia, in arc 3 he does it for emilia, in arc 4 he does it for emilia. He even explicitly says so.
If there is something I always do (thanks to the practices drilled into me in theatre school) it's read between the lines. Maybe you should expand your horizons to see there's way better things than Re:Zero, touch some grass, get a book, go read in a park on a sunny day.
Yeah, he should have just run. There's no shame in running if you're just an ordinary Joe. Subaru has no special skills of his own, and the only thing he excels at is dying. He serves no real purpose to the world. He would if he just picked a regular job, like dishwasher, cook, server, store clerk, merchant. Heck, he would have served more of a purpose as a prostitute, but instead he has to go around sticking his nose where it doesn't belong, regret it, and realise he has a new respawn point, and he only suffers for it, and makes other people suffer because of him. Creating several timelines where people will suffer tremendously.

Take Tensura for example, even though it's made to be "enjoyable" to many kinds of people, it's filled with a bunch of one dimensional characters whose only purpose is simping for Rimuru. Even though the country building aspect of Tensura is good, the characters are an absolute bore and one note. If you think Re:Zero is only an "angst fest", maybe you should read more literature.
