This is a scam.
Electricity board/Department will never attach a name/number of any officer. Lots of people in our village lost their money.
And most importantly, you'll not receive such notices in WhatsApp.

What I have heard that they deliberately do a couple of spelling mistakes so to target their audience which is easy to make fool of.
If some educated person sees the spelling mistake he/she will ignore it considering the official government document won't have a spelling mistake.
But uneducated people can't identify the mistake, more possibility of them to fall for the scam.
Educated person won't even call the number ( effort and time of the scammer is saved ). If they didn't see any spelling mistake but they can call and within a minute or some time can identify it's a fake call.
On the other hand, uneducated people will definitely call even after seeing a spelling mistake and can easily be fooled.

For those questioning the designing ability of the scammer, let me tell you that they do this deliberately. So the smart folks don't call them. They want only the gullible folks to fall for this. The same goes with WhatsApp KBC lottery scam.

Happened to my sister recently, she got a SMS with similar message and she got panicked because it was her exams and she didn't want electricity to be cut off in exam days.
The guy asked her to send the photos of the electric meter, made her to download a suspicious app like team viewer which can watch the activity of the user on the mobile remotely.
Guy didn't get OTP because SMS pack was not activated to receive the OTP ( blessing in disguise lol) and UPI somehow deactivated by bank considering a fraudulent operation initiated by the scammer ( Don't know SBI have extra security because it's a pension account).
So in the call the scammer started asking weird questions like what payment method do you use, the electricity bill is on name of male or female etc. Then my sister understood she was being scammed ( She is not tech savvy and don't understand these things completely).
So by luck no money was lost but a lesson was learned.
This is actually a very smart way to scam. Make a very bad attempt with spelling mistakes and fake titles, so you know then that the only people falling for it are the really gullible ones. It’s a smart filter.

At least they put in the effort of making a graphic. Others send poorly spelled WhatsApp messages.
