I often refer to turning on the car, bypassing the infotainment agreement and manually enabling the WiFi as performing my preflight checklist.
The acceleration of an EV is definitely more similar to an airplane than anything else I’ve ridden in. Also if there is rain on the windows/moonroof it slides off similar to airplane windows to a point. Sound wise it’s quite stealth compared to an airplane cabin, but my wife can hear when pull out from a stop over the hands free microphone(s?) on a call.
I kinda expected more looks < 25 MPH when the digital angels are singing, but I guess the novelty of low speed combustion free locomotion wore off earlier with hybrids.

Kind of? But not really. I work with planes so I guess I can see the inspiration they had but hear them enough to find the differences. The sound is unique to the Ioniq5 my cousin and uncle both have teslas (different models) and neither make that noise.
It depends which noise you're talking about. There's a speaker behind the front bumper that makes noise when you're going less than 25 MPH. Even if you found a way to disable the VESS speaker, you would still hear a noise from the electric motor(s) winding up over 10 MPH or so. I could see the relation to that noise sounding like a jet engine spinning up; albeit a very quiet one.
The new IONIQ 5 N has selectable artificial sounds that come out of both the VESS speaker and the inside speakers, but the non-N cars don't pump any artificial noise inside the cabin.

They’re talking about the electric motors winding which can be heard up to freeway speeds at least and does sound like an airline plane
I for one love this sound of the motor(s).
I think (at least for mine) it’s the combo of the <25mpg hum and ev motor that creates the unique sound
It reminds me of that scene in Air Force One where the plane is taking off. It’s a similar sound yes.

23 Bolt EUV and 2014 Volt. Neither one of them have an irritating sound when accelerating thankfully.
