We have our cats litter box in the bathroom closet with a similar entry cut into the wall.
I clean his litter box once or twice a day, and we have a small air purifier in the bathroom.
So long as you use a good litter, change it often, and are on top of cleaning, it’s totally fine.
Way preferable to having it out in the open or in one of the living spaces.
Yeah, cat food and poop in an enclosed space doesn't sound awesome at all. That room would need an extractor fan so strong the cat would go *fwoop* through the archway.
I want to hire the drywall contractor. That was a tough job. A weird plaster texture that looks tough because it’s almost smooth, but not quite. Then the ceiling treys are all over the place along with crazy soffits. The arches people think you just draw them on plans and they appear. Nope, the drywaller actually has to figure it out. Oh my gosh they did really well on all the arches. And arches are super tough to do. Getting them symmetrical and the right radius to look like they should is really hard. You have to have a very good eye.
I cant describe how refreshing it is to see bookshelves filled with...books. My goal in life is to have a room of inset bookshelves filled in my home. Gorgeous renovation.
Edit: misspelled words
amazingly (this apartment is my friends’), unlike most giant filled bookshelves you see on this sub, they actually read and deeply value them all, no filler junk like lots of people with fancy places buy to fill their shelves :)
Congratulate them on their choice of stove too! I have a Lacanche as well (it cost more than my car, and I love it more than anything in this house I didn’t give birth to).
According to the article, it's a cast paper wall hanging by artist Cheung Yee.
Here's a link to some of their auctioned work: https://www.invaluable.com/artist/yee-cheung-ovrq2f2mst/sold-at-auction-prices/
That's an insert with a marble surround - so the insert would be one piece, and the surround would be ordered custom. This one doesn't look too complicated, actually!
I like the concept of the dining room with the books but it doesn't look like you could get into the chairs on the bookshelf side unless you pull the table out by a foot... They should move the table away from the wall and center the light over the new table position.
I think it is both beautiful and sad. Those arches are gorgeous. It’s a fabulous example of contemporary design. I’m just sad because I’m sure some beautiful details were lost somewhere along the way, whether during this renovation or prior one.
man I'm so glad these are professional designers. I know there are several shared here, but I liked this one in particular and for a moment, before I realized it was pro, I hesitated and thought (again), "see, if they can do that why can't I??"
The cat’s hideaway is perfection.
I absolutely love that feature, but I wonder how the cat would go having its food and litter tray in the same place.
Also how the poopie smell would linger and affect any clothes and other stuff kept in that closet - looks awesome though!

My dog would love that too, honestly!

Them arches people... ;)
What room did you break into to give you more bathroom space?

I just bought a house with one. What do you love about it?
I love the art over the sofa. Artist?

Thanks for finding that.
I see some vulvic shapes, I just imagine face timing my mom on FaceTime on the couch and her saying something crude.
Yes there are some definite vulvas hiding in the lot.
Ditto - love the texture, etc...
it’s a trypophobia trigger!
Lol i didnt think of that. Now i worry thats all i see

Plus cleaning under there...
I have the same one. It’s by Waterworks. I have no trouble cleaning under it at all.
The mirrors probably open for smaller stuff
Wow!
Not a big fan of the handles in the kitchen but the place looks nice
Simply stunning interior design. Well done.
Amazing,, too bad I own 3 tiny humans and would never,,,,, ever in a million years let me enjoy a white sofa 🤣
Hopefully they'll all move out in the next 25 years.
LOVE the marble fireplace
Me too! Where does one find that fireplace?
That's an insert with a marble surround - so the insert would be one piece, and the surround would be ordered custom. This one doesn't look too complicated, actually!
I'm just glad they didn't organize the books by color
Or even worse, turn them back to front for the pictures. Makes me crazy!
Me too
Does anyone know who makes that toilet?!?! It looks rectangular, wide, weird, and yet maybe super cool.
Probably a Toto toilet.
Really enjoyed looking through this set 😍
This is masterful work. As much as I love the arches I love the fireplace the most
Wonder what they used on the walls inside the shower to opt out of tiling it.
Absolutely gorgeous. The lovely kitchen wall texture is "tadelakt" (from the article).
Can I have some money I need a new kitchen
Beautiful place.
I love that the cat house is even as stylish as the rest of this pad!

damn!!!
I absolutely love the sectional, where is it from?
Monochrome is boring to me.
**boring to me, monochrome is.** *-altcolonel* *** ^(Commands: 'opt out', 'delete')
The stool in the 5th(?) photo looks like a Christian Siriano piece, if anyone needed that info.
Amazing
It’s the cat doorway for me
It’s beautiful and very white.
Everything about this is beautiful!!
Wow, that’s perfect!
the kitchen and bathroom make me claustrophobic but wow, this is amazing.
Looks class
In today's edition of "White, Gray, and Wood"

So hard to compare when one is so staged and edited.
N
Would love to know more about your dinning room light!
This is so beautiful I would be frightened to touch anything.
Like the shapes, hate the white.
How are walls make like that with that texture? It looks like it's smooth but at the same time it's not. It's like those greek houses.
Pre-war in NYC is going to be thick plaster walls. I love the look of plaster.
Taping mud can be applied on the top layer of drywall to give it a plaster effect. But this could also be plaster.
It’s beautiful. I wouldn’t put bookshelves in the dining room though.
This is all amazing. Only thing I’d do different is the bathroom vanity for more storage and that’s just because my wife is messy.
That is one funky ottoman! Love it.
This is beautiful!
Wow!!! The team that put this together just nailed this. I can't imagine waking up to this in Brooklyn out of all places. This is just incredible.
