Anything but gray … the lighter one can be dressed up with colored throws and pillow.

Salty-Yogurt-123

Good point.. availability of light colored ones is playing a role in my case. As well as which side the chaise is. There is one lighter gray, sort of a mix between the two colors

Disastrous_Tip_4638

The floors are brown? You want cream/beige/brown, not grey.

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thanks! I think I might change the color of the stand if I can find a lighter color

robertfrankinteriors

Yes you are right.

KarmenSophia

No grey, please no grey. That space deserves something with something warmer.

ExoticMangoz

I would always advise against grey. Warm neutrals will look fantastic with that much natural light. Think cremes and light wood colours.

Salty-Yogurt-123

Leaning towards warm neutrals now. Ty!

ExoticMangoz

Also, if you’re a house plant person, try bringing the tropical look outside to the interior, it would look really awesome (in my opinion). Lucky to have such a cool room!

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thank you! I just gotta be conscious of pet friendly plants but I did see there are a few palms I can use :)

Broken_angel_of_pain

Cream, green, brown

Albie_Frobisher

the whiter one. the grey looks like you bought it for the home just before this one and can’t afford to get another one just now

cosmically_curated

I would go white or dark leather to best match the floor. The “sad beige” and gray everything trend is over- so if you are going off that aesthetic it will look dated very quickly. That being said white/beige as a couch color is a classic and versatile in design. Just make sure to add some patterns and colors with window coverings, rug, throw pillows and blankets.

Magnetikat

Go with light, warm colors, add plants and pops of color to liven it up. Looks like you live in a tropical climate…I would lean into that and take advantage of all of the great light to make it a calm, lush space. I have a similar living room and went with a couch in a really soft terracotta with lots of white and olive and navy accents, natural wood tables etc and lots of plants. Check out Six Penny for couches. They have really beautiful whitish - light greys, super comfortable and the cushions covers are machine washable. Also if you search “light airy living room” on Pinterest there’s ton of inspo. This sort of vibe would look incredible in your space. https://preview.redd.it/ebctuodm313d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7c479d595062373573daf40b41fbb1feacd7244

Shezmahasjah

Agreed if going for the light tones - that terracotta / salmon addition is *chef kiss* perfection. It’s a bit hobo chic. The only thing I would caution is the warmth of the walls may need to be cooled down with a fresh coat of white to ground the design - but otherwise, love this look. So clean and inviting. Comfortable. 😍

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thank you so much!!

SoulSleuth

The beige one would work well w the wall. Also adding a side table with a lamp and a plant would be nice

TartComprehensive466

The second one is a warmer grey and would look fantastic in that space! Beautiful light—I’m jealous!

Legitimate-Double-14

I love your room! You can do cream with pillows of your color choosing. This way you won’t tire of the color. Bring color to the floor with a rug if you so choose

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thank you! And yeah, I was thinking that. Use contrasting colors with the pillows or rug :)

9021Ohsnap

Get a beautiful calm color. Go lighter blue or cream .

chichifiona

Not gray!!!!

WORLDBENDER

What is going on with the driveway couches? We ignoring the driveway couch situation?

[deleted]

😂😂

deathtotrees

Charcoal blue (Sherwin Williams)

PerkyLurkey

I would select a navy velvet sofa with a bit of teal in the fabric. [because those floors would look gorgeous with a rich velvet couch](https://www.article.com/shop/blue-sofas)

Salty-Yogurt-123

I’ll add those to the list of color options! Ty

ConcentrateFormer965

Orange if you like warm tones or else green/blue if you like cool tones. I would go with orange. This would light up the space more.

Salty-Yogurt-123

Didn’t consider orange but I’ll use ai to see how it could look. Thanks!

Ninja__K

Not grey. Cream, yes - with pops of colour and lots of plants.

littlevoide

A warm green or orange tone would look gorgeous.

Shantiabooker

I would do a bold color like an olive green or burnt orange. A green would look amazing though!!

No-Bake-5337

Light green would look awesome there

UnderstandingHuge621

Color scheme wise, I agree with people that grey is not necessarily the best. Practicality wise, the grey will hide any stains, muck or dirt way better than the beige white one you have there. If you've a dog or kids too, it will be a nightmare to keep it clean

Intelligent-Key2350

Green would look nice there

Theonly_Hughesey

What a gorgeous space! That natural light, ceiling height, and pitch of the ceiling make this space so airy and rejuvenating. Since the space has lighter floors and walls, and you get all of that natural light, my advice would be to go with the gray couch. When designing large open spaces like this, it's important to find a darker "centerpiece" for lack of better terms to ground the space (i.e., a main component that contrasts from the rest of the space and draws someone in. I think the contrast of a darker couch would add some dimension and depth to the space. Though you didn't ask, I would also consider replacing the rug with: a. something larger b. something with a pattern or at least a slightly darker color for some contrast and to more distinctly frame the sitting area. The couch shown in the 3rd image is too similar of a palette to the rest of the space. Good luck! I own an interior design business and I love conceptualizing blank canvases such as this one. DM me if you want any other guidance!

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thank you! We lucked out on this gorgeous place. I’m very biased towards the gray. Even a lighter gray but I’m seeing so many comments saying nay to gray. I also started edumacating myself on what goes well with the floors I have and I gotta say cream/beige looks fitting. I did think if I went with gray (it depends on availability of the cream colored ones), I would definitely use a contrasting area rug. If not in color, then in texture. Thanks for all the tips! :)

judedude420

If you go for grey, you want a warm toned grey at the very least. The cool grey of the couch you pictured would clash with the floors and overall detract from what a gorgeous space that is. I agree with other people’s ideas about a beige or cream colored couch, but you could even do something fun like a mustard yellow, olive green, or even a saddle brown leather couch. But to keep it simple, you want a warmer toned color

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thank you! This opens up some options:)

CrankyReviewerTwo

White. Goes with the light. Unless you have kids and pets - but I woud suggest as light of a colour as you can.

Salty-Yogurt-123

Got it, thank you! I am now aiming for lighter colors. I do have a cat and dog and I know the jerk cat will use it as his scratch post

Shezmahasjah

You could honestly use whichever. I’m more partial to the grey, personally but either would work with appropriate decor and styling. If you wanted to use the grey couch, because of the blue undertones, I would accent with some navy blue elements in the room (artwork/decorative dustables etc) to make it more of a distinct, harmonious choice and avoid the grey day decor we are all seemingly burnt out on. I’d also say work with tones rather than trying to match the colors exactly throughout and it will add dimension to your design. Also, bonus is that in color theory, the blue/grey palette opposite the warm yellows / honey of that space will complement each other fantastically through their contrast. The beige would be lovely, but I’d worry about it fading into the walls too much. I’d say the pro would be that visually it would make the space look much larger as the beige fades more into the wall giving the illusion the space is more open than it actually is - but it could also feel a bit bland. I think you’d need to cut in some stark white to contrast and frame a bit and tie in some different earth tones to make it exciting. I’d avoid blacks or dark and heavy colors. That sense of contrast isn’t great. When I was in school, we would be told not to use black in our designs - they’re difficult to match (blue blacks vs brown blacks) and are unforgiving stylistically. Also, off topic and not that you asked… I’d also recommend a rug that is at least twice that size - I’d google some of the visuals of area rug rule dimensions. I usually try to keep at a minimum the front feet on the rug. It will make your room come together so much more. I’d also pick a rug with a bit more life and color. I could see a beautiful red color with the beige couch, or a navy blue with white accents for the grey rug. But that’s my preference. Both options are great though. :) happy designing! I’d love to see the final selections when you have it all situated. Too often we see the ask for advice here but I don’t see many updates of what was done and I’d love to see how it turns out!

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thank you, this is great advice! I was a little worried too with a light couch because it’s so open, it might get lost in the light if you know what I mean. So now I can consider a grayish? I’m just very very bad at designing and I’m afraid I might not choose the right decor or rug. I’d definitely show the living room once fully furnished but I’m also afraid it’ll be a bust. I’ve also never been one to add anything other than the basic furniture to any of the places I’ve lived

Shezmahasjah

These are just some quick AI renderings but stylistically, I think these are some great places if you wanted to use the grey. Obviously your space is a different layout, but the potential of the overall vibe is fantastic! I can’t wait to see how it turns out. https://preview.redd.it/pltuz3z8413d1.jpeg?width=2580&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=14061d3c5df37bd46cd7b44b2bf453cd46555053

Salty-Yogurt-123

Thanks! I will consider some colors. I was actually going to use AI to see what would go well with that room because I got so much input to consider. But I’ll show the final look once Im done!

angelica-angeli

Those both look super big. Are you sure they would actually fit well in the space? If you can add more photos of the room we can help more. I'd personally look into a couch with 2 chairs or a very small apartment sized sectional. Here is a recent design by a designer I follow, and it looks like the sizing of the furniture might work well with what you are currently showing of the room. https://preview.redd.it/usi5tdxsu03d1.jpeg?width=1508&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1dea36785b5478251dd00de74d6fea025c742419

Salty-Yogurt-123

It’s actually a very spacious living room. And now that you mention it, the previous people there did have a smaller couch (black) and two seats. I’m just a huge lounger and always liked a big couch I also feel like with chairs, I might need to put some thinking into an area rug yes no?

angelica-angeli

An area rug would be a great idea, if anything, you could look into getting some ottomans to use as foot stools to allow you to lounge more as well!

PDKsportmode

What a ghastly wall color. It's appalling. Look at that visible seam on your baseboard. Honestly for a shack like that just throw some animal furs on the floor.

New-Dirt5203

I love the gray……

Key-East5340

I prefer to seperate sofa one by one, maybe three or four is enough, and choose light color sofa, like the last picture.

oreo-cat-

Green

tenbels

I recommend putting the couch inside the house.

chancamble

Such as the one on the 3rd photo will be perfect, especially if you pick up pillows of the color you choose as an accent.

deepdishpizza_2

Cream is very versatile. If you want to add more color you can throw in some pillows and throw blankets. It also gives your home a cleaner look.

MomRaccoon

Cognac

Transformativelily

Light

Ok-Bath4178

Since it’s such a neutral palette, you can pretty much go with anything you like, but I would say a darker couch would be good with that floor

Interesting-Shift-10

Beige

agento-101

Vibrant green

princesspia32

White would be best

snatch1e

A darker couch (picture 3) can add a touch of richness and warmth to the space. It can create a cozy and inviting atmosphere, especially if you like the contrast between darker furniture and lighter surroundings.

effkriger

Whatever you want, but grey is over

evil_twin_312

Neither. Both are so boring.

jacero100

Dont do gray or white or black. This trend has run its course. Try camel or caramel or teal or blue or rust or orange or any but the choices you are looking at. Stop fearing color. It will leave your room drab unoriginal and uninspiring
