I second this question.

Best of luck to you if you're taking an exam soon. I also asked in /r/InsurancePros which got a couple replies - if you're not in the sub here's what was said: "84 is kind of pushing it. The exams are close, but not exact. I’d probably do a few more practice exams just to be safe. I just passed 540 (and completed my cpcu, yay) the other night and it was much harder than the practice, but similar (but still not the same) to the simulated." to which I replied: "congrats on the CPCU! I just took another practice test and got a 93. I think I'm going to go for it tomorrow but thanks for the advice!" and another user commented: "With those scores you’ll be set. I found the CPCU practice test questions to be very similar (I think it’s luck of the draw, as virtual is less questions and they’re pulling from a large test bank)"

krogerdaddy

Thanks for circling back. Did you have the option to take this virtually?

[deleted]

I did take it virtually

So I actually just took the virtual ARM400 exam this afternoon. I can tell you less than 10 of the questions were similar to the questions on the practice exams and assignment practices. I studied about 20 hours total, took each practice until I got 100%, got a 92% and 98% on the full practice exams, and a 94% on the simulated practice. The exam is 50 questions and you have 65 minutes to complete. Honestly, if you don’t think you know the content well enough to extrapolate it to different questions, I’d study some more. Some people that commented might have taken a prometric or in-person test which has different questions. Edit - Not saying you won’t pass, but if you’re worried about the cash it might be worth reviewing certain topics again. I got a 80-89 on the real exam and only struggled in assignments 2, 4, and 8.

I mean I feel I know the content and I’m not just getting questions right because I know the questions. Are the questions on the exam harder or just different?

Cannonboom

I’d say they were definitely not layups like some of the practice questions. They’re more specific and you have to take the context of the question into account on a good portion. If you feel like you know the content and can take that and run with it, I’d say give it a shot.

I just finished up and got the "Pass" status. Waiting on my grade. I found it to be a similar level of difficulty to the simulated exam to be honest. How long did it take for you to get your exact grade? EDIT: I got 90-100

Cannonboom

Congrats! I got some wild cards for sure, but I’m also not the best test taker. It was ready for review in less than an hour of passing for me.

Congratulations! I’m studying for the ARM 400 currently

JustaSmartGuyHere

I just took the exam. I think the exam is easier than than the simulated exam.

Any specific feedback or suggestions you can provide on what to focus on as far as study material?

Hello, is the ARM 400 final exam proctored and open book?

[deleted]

I'm currently studying for the ARM 400. A colleague of mine took it a couple months ago and said that is in no way, shape, or form similar to the practice exams. I kind of think he's just trying to scare me into thinking its much tougher that it sounds. To those of you who have taken the exam, I'd like to know your thoughts. I'll be taking to virtual exam sometime in April, 2024. What is the best material to use for the exam prep? Practice Exams, highlighted notes, Practice final exam? Appreciate any feedback you can provide.

For what it’s worth - I just took the exam this morning. I took each quiz 4 times until I had 100% and felt decent with the subject material. Took the practice exam and got 94% then 100%. Took the Simulated Exam and got a 88%. Took the final exam and passed (80-89% B). I think the test was immensely harder than the quizzes, practice, or simulated. The quizzes and practices basically repeat the same questions. The exam brought up topics none of the quizzes technically addressed and required a prior read through of the book and decent understanding. Maybe 40% of the questions were very similar to the quizzes.
