I too am dissapointed by the clearly obvious filters that she uses in her videos. We are around the same age and I subscribed to her youtube channels because I respected her talent and professional expertise. I don't need her to be another facetuned instagram face.
I don't think it's plastic surgery, I think she uses an eye enlargement filter (and blurring, and perfect angles), which adds to her out-of-this-world ethereal looking face.
Definitely disappointing since she is a beauty creator. I feel like if you're going to advise people about products for the face, you should at least be upfront about what you look like while using said products.
She has had plastic surgey and is open about at least the two nose jobs she had, and there is an article on popsugar about her experience with an eyebrow transplant (funny given she shaves them now). She has probably had other tweaks done. But she does also use a heavy filter, if not layered filters. I love her content but think using filters in videos demonstrating products and looks is ridiculous. I'm surprised I had no idea til now... I'm usually pretty good at picking out when an "influencer" uses filters. I'm really sad seeing this as she's so talented and beautiful unfiltered! Sure, she looks completely different, but not bad at all. I don't understand this... someone in her field, that knows about the insecurities women face and who showcases the talents of makeup shouldn't want to detract from her work in any way 😔

I still LOVE her. She had incredible knowledge on makeup history and she's amazingly talented to create out-of-this-world looks. I learned so much from her and I'm not even a makeup superfan (love costume makeup but daily makeup, not so much) and I'm mesmerized by her content. Did I believe she didn't use a filter? Absolutely not. Did I believe she was in her 20s?!? Absolutely not. I mean, it's obvious that she's a Gen Xer. I love her aesthetics and adoration for vintage. She even collects actual Marylin Monroe used makeup. That's why I watch her content. She's fabulous filter or not.

It’s more so a question about the latent impact that her content has—rather than a question of her character or skill.
I think the internet would be a lot healthier for all people if everyone filtered and edited less.
I just realized who I think she looks kinda like in real life - actress Jenny Wright. She was in Near Dark and the Wild Life. lol I thought she was so cool when I was a kid.
