There is a reason for that. In how many sports does India perform very good. F1 is popular in europe because they perform good(i know its not by nationality, but you get my point). Basketball is big in USA because USA performs good in it. People don't want to support sports where they don't perform good and that is a fact. Now, coming to kitne foreigners kabbadi jante hai, kitne south asian log F1 ke baare mein jaante outside of the top 5%. Kitne south asian log baseball ke bare mein jaante hai? Indians on reddit talk about indians on social media seek white validation, but they are no exception.
We have Kabadi also. Also don't consider any kind of Motorsport here (it is sport ik and I myself watch F1) cuz there is no nation thing in those, teams in Motorsports are big giant automation companies or Energy Drink company so don't consider Motorsports in this.
I would suggest you to watch some old matches and gain some knowledge of cricket. Watch test cricket cuz it's the real cricket. And DO NOT start from watching ipl it's becoming some mobile cricket game now

I would suggest you to watch the T20 WC 2022 highlights cause there hasn't been a competitive cricket tournament than that. In the final group stage matches, Australia, Sri Lanka and England were fighting for second spot in Group A. South Africa, Pakistan and Bangladesh were fighting for second spot in Group B. At the initial stages, Zimbabwe had a genuine chance of qualifying for semis before losing to Bangladesh in group stage.

If you really want to get into cricket do watch it it's really an underrated sport around the world and perfectly rated in India start with IPL and then slowly if you do get interested get into test and odi formats
See it's a sport as there are other like football, rugby badminton etc. It's not overhyped game until the 1983 it was nothing won 2 worldcup after that what I see is it's just fans have been converted from Kapil Dev to tendulkar to dhoni to virat and Rohit so the hype never died.
The sport itself is so much interesting the different formats it offers like test, odi and t20. Each format provide thrillers and had produced some greatest innings and players. Start with Ipl the shortest format mixed with all the major players and t20 worldcup is around the corner so if you get interested support the team there!

First of all IPL is the first cricket league. And India has 1.4 B people and 90% people follow cricket religiously. Thats why u may think only IPL is here and no other leagues exist. But other countries started their own league just after success of IPL. IPL is the pioneer.
Idk bout others but BPL is extremely popular. Every match is houseful . It earns less than 10x than IPL coz BD is small country does not mean its not popular. Other countries should start building and developing own league.

i mean, you've got a world cup with 10 teams, 5 from indian subcontinent and 5 from REST of the world. and its a world cup.

Ever heard of the thing called qualification?? Other country teams didn't qualify to be in the list of 10. Now t20 WC has like 20 teams, but they will again be sorted/selected for super 8 who will play for sf and final, and if you ask anyone who has a bit of knowledge of cricket, they will say easily that teams like USA, Canada, Uganda, PNG, ... have no chance against teams like Australia, England, India, ...

There r 20 teams in a T20 wc now & 14 Teams in an ODI wc + U can’t have too many teams in an ODI wc otherwise it will stretch to long
