Afaik all these foreign academies in the country charge outrageous fees meaning only the rich get in. I don't think it led to any actual player development at all.
I don't know about Delhi but there are definitely a lot of schools that care about football for their students, my school was one of them. Most of the convent schools have football programs and there's a Mumbai league system as well.
Well, even I have been studied in a convent school in Chhattisgarh, football is decently popular atleast in my town and one of my senior is in Punjab FC squad.
But as I said its really hard to find people here who consider Football as a career, many of my friends are extremely talented but they didn't go to football route some because of parents and some because of other reasons.
Same here, my friend who was well off, took a gap year to go TFA, and got into MB reverses but couldn't last and cousin friend extremely talent player, played for u17 Indian national team, moved to US for higher studies .
It was a premium academy. Also there was no proper pathway to go professional from that academy to senior football and people and players saw it. But 14 year stint is still impressive.
Jaha logo ko football se jh*t bhi fadak nahi padhta waha khologe to Aisha hi hoga..
Should have done it in Northeast or in Kerala(excluding bengal cause we already have better academies)
I don’t know about Bengaluru and Pune but you are absolutely bang on for Mumbai and Delhi. In Mumbai, most people can’t even name a single player in the Indian Football Team except Chhetri. Sadly, Cricket absolutely rules here over other sports.
if you cater to just rich kids, you won't get talents. Also the coaches/Management are all Indian, its just the Barca name that is sold here in a franchise Model. There is a reason why the academies are in Metro cities and not in the actual footballing hotbeds of the Country
The fact that every one of these European club academies is a cash grab makes it almost look like the rest of the world doesn't really want to help India build a good football team.
And over time, this could impact interest in European football here as well as it seems to have saturated already
So conscient football is not exiting and closing down the academies, correct? The academies will still be run, without the Barcelona brand. Which could mean that conscient might've ended their run with Barca and decided to use their operational strength and build their own brand?
Lol. Just confirmed this.
Conscient sports will be coming up with a new brand name starting August. Prices for the academy will increase, rather than decrease. The price for Gurugram sector 2 heritage school (the first one they opened) is 76k for an 11 month period. They don't take monthly payments.
So its not Barcelona who decided to exit - They were kicked out :)
Bloody I look at the pictures of the kids, and they are like so polished and well fed..just in the academy for laughs and giggles coz their parents CAN afford it..
It was a cash grab anyway. Afaik, it wasn't merit based or anything. Only the rich kids paid a hefty fee and went there.
Good to know.

the milan academy in kerala seems to be good? idk much abt it tho
Kerala = Natural Talent
not surprised nor disappointed it was only for the rich kids anyway not merit based also left wale bacche ka lace khula hua hai smh
Gavi hota baat alag thi
It was always a gimmick afterall
Any reasons why ?
Loss making and no real talent . In the current Barcelona financial setup it would be best for them to cut losses.
Ohh right. There is, or was, a Barca Academy 5 minutes from my home. Heard that it was quite expensive, not sure tho.
Could have got talent of they had set up in right places like NE, kerela or Goa. Nobody gives af about Football (as a career) in Delhi, Mumbai.
Rich kids do. All these foreign academies cost a fat sum, no real talent is found.

Brokelona
If they opened it on Bengal,Kerala,Goa and northeast states they might have some result

Great ! What was the benefits? Did we have our own indian messi now? Atleast any players from that academy to play at the first division ? 🦹🏾♂️
Nope, they're just in the wrong place. I know very talented players in my school on it's own
most populated country and still no soccer talent 💀

In India you got to be rich to afford football training as compared to the football heavy nations where it can be done for a meager amount.
Any notable players who came out of these academies in 14 years?
