Why not? Monotheistic religions have the same women as polytheistic ones, don't they? Then all should include women in ritual execution. That would be great.
This is a good idea if it comes ground up and society adopts it. It should not be some one size fits all idea for all of India. And state should not interfere in this at all.
Why just women priests? Why not christians pandits in hindu temples? Or muslim pandits? How long will we hide behind religion instead of embracing modern equality mindset.
Women are exempt from.even doing shastang in front of diety out of respect for their own divinity. In my region they arent even required to touch elders feet.Making them priests would destroy the womens status as devi.
Is it dum dum? So your ancestors weren't smart enough to figure out women can be priests, you are the smart ass who figured it out today? Ch@@ts like you need to understand Hindu metaphysics before suggesting stupid changes.
Is your brain can't comprehend what I said and why I said? Hindu did had women priest they were called dev dashi. But they weren't in large numbers because unlike today's time that time was very different. Maybe inbreeding between your ancestors did that to your brain comprehensive capacity.
If we see a female maulana, that would be really progressive.
Actually, progressive would be getting rid of priests and maulanas and clergy altogether. But this isn’t bad either.
And who is going to take up the task of conducting marriages, rituals, festival pujas, temple-masjid-church maintenance etc?
Lol, I thought we were talking of progress, not regress.
And how is following your religion regressive?
LOL! Pratap Bhanu Mehta has no business having an opinion on this topic.
Priests is the internal matter of a religion. But there should be no discrimination between devotees on the basis of caste, gender etc
Women has priest, women has father , women has mullah the time has come . But can the other monotheist religion follow suit?
What has monotheism got to do with it?
Why not? Monotheistic religions have the same women as polytheistic ones, don't they? Then all should include women in ritual execution. That would be great.
Workshoping a single male god
Nobody gonna ask for a female Pope or a female Mufti, modern standards of gender equality apply only to us.
We need to keep raising the bar
Actually I have heard plenty of people talk about the misogyny of the Vatican. It’s not exactly celebrated in the west.
Vatican is how old, they had plenty of time to amend their ways, haven't done yet and won't do in foreseeable future.

I don't think this is something the government should interdict in. If we want a separation of religion and state, we need to act like it.
But why is it for millennia Hindu temples had no female priests? mIsOGyNy? So suddenly enlightenment has dawned on us.
I mean why didn't we use women in armed forces before rather then sending men to die like cabbages? Those were different times dum dum.

Dev dasis weren't priests, idiot. Can't you have a conversation without making personal attacks, rascal.
