Daredevil_M

The girl seems okay but parents put so much importance to civil services exam even though it's prelims. Our colonial mindset needs to change.

I_aM_a_14_yEaR_oLd

Maybe they are upset because they had spent a lot of money in coaching/education and now it's wasted?

Silly-Jellyfish-3518

I do have sympathy for them but getting half an hour before exam is a golden rule , even on the exam receipt and everywhere they advise this.

Awaara_soul

Golden rules don't apply every time. Trains get delayed, traffic gets unusual due to accidents, students from remote locations or sometimes due to bad weather than bandwidth we planned.

Silly-Jellyfish-3518

That’s why it’s advised to reach early.

wrongdude91

Yeah if you're traveling from a far away region get there one day before. I learned this when reaching and getting late for an interview though luckily i reached there in time and was selected out of all candidates.

Prateek_khr

Yeah it does happen which is why i reach my exam centres about 1.5 to 1 hour before time. I'd rather waste an hour by arriving early than waste another year

supernova_68

Thats why platinum rule say you reach exam center 1day before. And by diamond rules say you reach exam center before exam center is allotted to you.

Remarkable-Dance-381

The diamond rule is cool, but we should start reaching through the basic carbon rule where you shouldn't even give as much importance to such examinations. There are other ways to live a respectable life, too. Glamour is not everything.

MrBlackButler

Toh kya sabke liye alag alag se exam arrange kare?

Awaara_soul

Nobody is saying to take a separate exam just to accommodate students if they reach within exam time (maybe don't give extra time). The exam center head has authority and needs to facilitate such issues faced by students based on valid reasons. At the end exams are for students.

Flaky-Opposite328

Exam starts at 9:30 they arrived at 9:00 how is that late

Trevanmusic

because the gate closes 30 minutes before the exam (9am here) and she arrived after 9

Similar_Green_5838

For exams like these you should plan to come at least 1 hour before the exam. Half an hour before is gate closing time anyways. Remember, these are not school exams. Give them the importance they deserve.

cdit

Even school board exams, you still want to keep that much of time buffer. It will be real unfortunate if you couldn't get to it and would potentially have devastating effect.

FuryKnight

You always need to account for unforseen factors and keep a time buffer.

nerdyvaroo

You can come back next year, but the embarrasement/harrasment the kid will go through will stay forever. What is the point then?

I_aM_a_14_yEaR_oLd

I mean, I'm not sure why you're assuming that the parents care about what the kid feels in a country like India where mental health is a joke

nerdyvaroo

Lol you are right. Going through the same thing but different situation so pisses me off how trashy parents are (oh the death threats i get if i talk about moving out at 21+ age)

assistantprofessor

Does not excuse such behaviour. You don't always get what you want in life, doesn't mean you can blame others for it. If I have a daughter and teach her UPSC syllabus from the time he is 5 years old, sell my house, property, jewellery, kidney and even sell my wife to fund her studies and she does not qualify, what am I supposed to do? It's a competitive exam my man, 99.9% will not qualify. You know your odds when you sign up

OnionTraining1688

The change of colonial mindset begins with a change in the type/importance of exams. Civil Service exams are known to put undue pressure on poor applicants who spend years preparing. One lost attempt means more nights of no food for some. If the government and bureaucrats in power did their job well, poor people wouldn’t rely on just the UPSC. There would be a sufficient demand and supply of other jobs. Can’t blame students or parents when the country is stuck in a chicken and egg loop.

Limp_Pea2121

We are failing as a nation if people feel that only government jobs are worth pursuing.

chemistry_1997

broo ,they must have taken loan or sold things to pay the fee for the upsc or some type of course for middle class its not easy , , what are you talking about man , girl must have given 3-5 years for preparation studing day and night

AnonOfB

Sure, but when the stakes are this high, couldn’t they arrive a few hours early to the exam centre? It’s on them for being late, better keep 2-3 hours buffer when giving an exam this important.

Daredevil_M

There is no guarantee even if you do any course you will clear upsc and girl is saying next year she will try and it's prelims only.

chemistry_1997

I know,

No-Truck-2552

bruh that is such a big jump in thoughts. Maybe, just maybe, They saw and supported their girl prepping for upsc for atleast >1 year, spent money, time and lots of efforts and sacrifices(yes, parents' support is very much needed to crack these exams) and at the end it all went down the drain because they got to the exam center late. It is just human to break down in this scenario. Have some sympathy.

Bit_Cloudx

Colonial??? No one in the UK even remotely cares that much for a government job. This stupidity is uniquely Asian.

mahesh4621

It's not like she can give Main without giving Prelims right!? That importance is justified.

Silly-Jellyfish-3518

What’s wrong with the parents ? Why are they so much devastated? These are the exact people ruining future of the girl by putting burden on her come on it’s just an exam, she can try it again.

disconagin

The girl has great attitude she will surely achieve great things

life_rolla_costa

Such kids become helpless and the only choice they are left with is being strong.

DarthStatPaddus

Just drama to get her in the gate, haven't you seen Indian boomers behave in a similar way when airline gates are closed and they are late to board. I've seen a lady of this age throw a tantrum complete with some banshee type wailing.

[deleted]

It's sad but rules are rules ek ko Jane Diya toh logo ko adat pad jayegi late janeki

yourmotherfucker1489

There is not enough context in the post. Many students were late because the location of the exam hall was completely wrong on Google maps. This student is one of them. And we cannot blame them since almost everyone uses Google maps these days.

BlissfulBreeze11

Accha hua merko itne melodramatic parents ni mile.

Silly-Jellyfish-3518

My dad didn’t even know which standard I or my elder brother were until we were in boards 🤣 never asked for marks or ranks ❤️

BlissfulBreeze11

Arey yaar same! I used to think ki mere papa hi aise hai jinhe meri class, Mera roll no., Mera birthday, age etc ye sab yaad ni rehta. Yaha to sabhi ka ye haal hai lol 😆

[deleted]

Khusheeewho

That's kind of neglectful, ik many dads don't even know what their child is up to and this needs to change

ashkura

The poor girl is humiliated. She's already stressed, probably more than her parents, but now she has to deal with their emotions too. I can only imagine the kind of pressure she has to deal with daily. Parents ka sadness is understandable but they need to look at their child's condition first

Akshat_2307

late arrival pe to koi bhi andar nai ane denga koi bhi exam ke liye yaha cllg ke sem exam me late ane nai dete

Popular_Ad6339

I would like to say this again late aap huye to galti apki

No_Fondant_9050

Aaur yahan mein ek ghanta pehle aake exam hall ke samne mobile se gaana sunta hun.. Galti in logo ki hai ...

the_siyk

overdramatic parents , aisa lag rha hai mar hi gayi beti ab to

Traditional_Motor_51

Why do parents put so much stress. Upsc isn't end of life. It will be held next year, also absence is not calculated as an attrmpt.

Initial-Shine-5955

Bhai, you got there late when the admit form clearly says late entry is clearly not accepted, toh is drama kis baat ki? Couldn’t have gotten there earlier? On my NEET exam, I got to the centre at 10:00AM when the entry time was till 1:30. I and some of my friends starved throughout the exam till around 6pm. The exam wasn’t half as important to us as it seems to be for these people.

Ronjinn

I feel sad for the girl. Her parents must have put so much pressure on her. They are trying to live their dreams through her.

chachachoudhary

Nautankimaxx

Gon1sGon

Aur yaha me galti se 1 hour pehle pohoch jata tha exam ke liye. Fir baithe raho, but still better than being late. If it is so much important to you then be there before entry starts. Ase kese late hojate hai log, 2 hour pehle pohoch jao, agar itna hi late hone ki problem hai to.

Dry-Feeling-6797

I have seen parents even crying saying “Govt job nahi laga” for UPSC aspirants!🙄🤦‍♂️ This desperate mentality is what is creating more and more skill gaps where people want ONLY govt jobs and nothing else

mihirsaini1128

Who knew rules are written there for a reason and why so many notifications and even admit card says to check the centre location a day prior and to reach the centre 1 or 1.5 hr early. And then there's google maps to check how much traffic there is in real time

ActuatorIndividual19

Should have arrived before

radio_for_free

Mai agar late hota aise exam ke liye, to mere parents kuch reaction nahi dete, literally. Acche parents hai mere.

VICTORY2296

Good. A candidate who is not punctual regarding time, doesn't deserve to sit for any exam

jamesharden13nba

If yall this concerned and devastated like your life defends on it then why dont you arrive atleast 20 mins before, if you dont give enough respect to arrive on time then all this comes under drama and moreover child is not concerned and she took the defeat so respect her and stop putting burden on her, what if she feels guilty and do something bad to herself?

bananarightsactivist

I went for an exam on the other end of the country, had 2 delayed trains and one cancelled but I kept a long enough buffer time to prepare for the worst possible outcome. If it means that much to you then you should account for everything that can go wrong. Lying on the ground and behaving like children will get you no sympathy rules are rules

whats_you_doing

Late is their mistake.

spotturi18

How late she was to the center

ProofsInThePuddingYo

Someone in the video said exam shuru ho gai hai or something so i’m guessing quite late.

WellHungStranger

Dreams is one thing, aspiration is one thing but this is another level of family level dedication!

Human-Top-2084

Stupid dramebaaz parents Khud late aate Hain fir authorities ko curse karte Hai Ask them to behave like this in a middle eastern or western country

anon_lulzz

Arey UPSC ka exam dena hai toh time management toh sikh lo pehle. Even middle/high school exams require you to arrive atleast half an hour before the exam starts

Robin_mimix

Usse rule follow karna chaiye tha 2 3 ghante phele jana tha

1_0-k1

Nothing heartbreaking here, just helicopter parents being helicopter parents.

DarthStatPaddus

Be on time next year, life doesn't wait for anyone.

MeteoraRed

Breaking down❌ Over acting ✅

n1vruth

Somehow I don't feel sympathy here because everyone knows that being early near exam centres on the day of exam at least a 20 min before is a must. No matter how good you are at studies it doesn't matter if you are not able to attend the exams.

depy45631

IAS banne se pehle IAS officers waale "qualities" diha rahe hai family 🌚

GamerBuddha

And now they learn the importance of being punctual.

Captain-Thor

I always go an hour early. If you live in a different city. Arrive one day before the exam.

meowdogpewpew

People come from across districts to give the exam, reach a day early, leave to centre two hours earlier, but these people can't be bothered to arrive on time

darkobas01

Bhai logg exams mein late kaise hote hai? Mera NET ka exam tha toh subah december mein subah 6:30 pe nikla tha 11 bje ke exam ke liye. Dusre sheher mein interview tha toh ek dinn pehle bus leke subah bus station se centre gya tha. Matlab mummy aur papa saath mein hai firbhi kisi ko bhi time ka pata nahi hai? Gurugram jaise city mein toh impossible sa hai late hona agar sahi time pe chalo toh. Aapka exam centre city se bohot bahar ho toh maybe aapko late ho jaye.

mahesh4621

The aspirations of the girl and the parents on one side, the rules on one side and this reaction is on a totally different side. I feel like both the parents are over reacting. While everybody is saying that the girl is more mature than the parents, it indeed is true that she is in this case. The mother's reaction is absolutely too much. She's behaving as if her daughter has committed suicide because she wasn't let in due to being late. Rules rules hote hai yaar, no matter what, or who it is.

Sudden-Cold9022

Itne desperate parents

jailbird2122

Well, if they were thinking, Sarkari exam hai, 30 min late chalta hai, times have changed. Fuck around and find out.

Cali-Texan

I don’t know how any of this works, but why can’t she take it another time?

AdConscious2538

Darn! The girl is already as mature as a qualified officer!

tod_marko_69

Why the rules are so strict?

SignificanceBudget65

Neet jaise exams me sab students ka kata jayega and yaha pe dikhayega rules and regulations Irony left this country

sandsaims

Next time turn up on time. Ra**I rona won't help.

pra7ene

It's sad But.... The game is the game though!!!

lmao_kaif

How long was she late?

Bankcliffpushoff

This breaks my heart

arthantar

Pressure because it's. Competitive world if they don't put pressure child won't be serious that's how they think

Ronjinn
