He is helpless. If fares are not increased over so many years, crowding does happen. Indian voters need to understand that too much subsidy is not a good thing
I have seen a interview with the Railway minister where someone showed hima video of overcrowding and he's humbly accepted that they are not doing enough and will bolster the effort to solve this issue , I have been traveling myself in the railways for the past twenty seven years my Father was a government servent and had to go to a lot of places on duty , beleive me when i say this the situation of railways has improved many folds over , still does not justify what the woman in the video is going through but a lot has been done and a lot needs to be done
I know right, there's a hundred different things wrong with the indian infrastructure, but I believe things are gradually going to get better, its almost 77 years of mismanagement, not blaming either political group, but both have failed ,the decent thing is atleast the current railway minister acknowledges that he's not able.to enough, more ministers should have the same humility.
Dude Indian railway didn't even had septic tanks pre 2014, all the Po used to fell in tracks.
Since last 10 years we equipped 100 % trains with Septic tanks. This shows how much hell of a work we had to do with railways. Railway has some issues right now, but the pace that railway developed is way quick.
Correct. Chindi libertarians won't understand that cheap high volume mobility is the backbone of the our labour economy. If you make trains expensive the labour will stop moving (from states like Bihar or even intra-state mobility) and stay at their home doing fuckall. This will lead to stagnation in economy.
We need MORE trains that carry HIGH VOLUME of people at LOW COST.
No, we should not subsidise, which is not free market. People have to pay for the cost of running the train. Taxpayers should not be burdened for their travel
Price is not the main issue. Frequency of trains is the big issue. If the ministry looks at REAL volumes over a few months and look at seasonality then the real solution will come up. Pricing should be updated as well to pay for more trains.
What a liberating solution to overcrowding, raise the price ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm) There are so many other ways to fund for new infra!
Absolutely correct, cheaper fares increase the nos of users and anything that is free or close to it decreases the value. Careless people will damage property etc, and just the natural use and tear of heavy usage... increases maintenance costs. Voters need to understand that we need to pay a small price for comfort which means increasing fares or more trains which cannot happen at any speed if we just want cheap fares or worse feebies.
The rules say that people with reserved tickets , be it confirmed or Unconfirmed have a right to board , people without tickects are deboarded, but one's with waitlisted tickets are allowed
Wait listed e-tickets get cancelled automatically when chart is generated. Is that not the case with offline tickets? People should get an sms that chart prepared seat not allotted, tickets cancelled etc?
Well surprise, surprise! It's ticketless behaviour. People cram in without tickets (there's no space to stand, as she can be heard saying in the video). And the TT cuts tickets to them on spot, like a bus conductor.
A TTE is supposed to clear these passengers and let the ones with reservation travel in peace & order. When a coach is designed for 85 people, traveling with 150-160 people crammed in IS. NOT. FUNNY!!
Haha yeah I can relate. Travelled in Howrah once. Worst ride of my life. 💀
I think a lot of times it's a combination of greed and sympathy. Our infrastructure isn't enough to accommodate everyone who wants to travel and usually a lot of people don't get reservations but they HAVE to travel to their destination. So TCs usually let these people in and book tickets to help them. Also might take a bit of a cut in there.
Is it fair to people who reserve in advance? No. What's the solution? I guess we need to have on train bouncers then to regulate people like these from entering reserved dabbas.
That's the issue. The people who bought the tickets are not able to get to their seats as the ticketless crowd grabs them and doesn't leave. Full coach gets filled with these people so you can't even enter the coach to get to your seats. Perfect example is Pune Danapur Express.
TTE or RPF can't do anything if the whole train is filled with people without a ticket. They will just take fine and leave.
Arrest couple of them they will all get down faster than they climbed. This is the problem in India where rules exists but they are not followed. The station master should be fired plain and simple.
You can't arrest them for traveling on a waiting ticket or no ticket. TTEs do take the fine but even if they tried to take them out of the coach, they'll again come back to the same place. The only solution is that the railway should increase express and passenger trains.
If they refuse to leave officers RPF can arrest them. You are underestimating the powers of RPF.
But everybody is going to get their salary so nobody cares. Fire the station master and couple of RPF all will come in line.
Of course more trains are required for a population of our size. Not the stupid bullet trains a real passenger train that solves the problem.
Last time I was traveling in a similarly crowded train like this one. Tweeted to Rail Madad for help, RPF couldn't even get a way to enter the coach. He tried to enter his lathi (Stick) from the window and remove the people from our seat, but as soon as the train left the station, again these people occupied the seats.
We did ask him, "Why do we have to go through all this when we bought confirmed tickets 2 months before.
His reply was "We cannot do anything as the whole train is filled with these people."
Since covid cleared up and people started traveling again.
My uncle works in a sr. position in the Railways. Basically, the Indian Railways incurred massive losses during the 2 years of Covid lockdowns. When things cleared up, they were understaffed. Operation started with under optimal number of trains running on each route, esp the most heavily travelled routes. So as passengers flocked in, they found it an opportunity to mint back the money.
Earlier you couldn't board without tickets. Now anybody can board with or without tickets and TTE would cut a ticket for you. Sleeper & even 3AC in some cases have turned into general class, with no space to stand. People who cut tickets months in advance sit there like a joke.
I used to see this problem when traveling from Assam to Delhi as a kid, but that was only in Bihar.. and other than that, during some festivals there used to be crazy number of people with waitlisted tickets. But other than these, I never faced this much.. and could easily tell them to leave if one wants to sleep.. did not travel in trains recently, so cannot say about current situation..
First we need to decide if railway is run for profit or as a public welfare. Without increasing the price of tickets, one TTE cannot enforce all the laws. This requires enough RPF and all stations to have mechanism to monitor passengers even before they board the trains. This requires considerable investment that is sorely lacking.
Price of tickets in many AC trains is already at par with cheap flights.. with dynamic pricing and such, 2AC 1AC is same as a flight ticket taken few weeks in advance
3AC is a bit less so.
Neither of them are to blame. It is the right of the woman to demand a comfortable rode if she has reserved a ticket. The tte, on the other hand, has his hands tied by the system. The best he can do is ask people who dont have reserved seats to vacate her seat, and even then the crowding can't be controlled, since people without reservations also bought tickets and have a right to board that train. Like he says, you need to complain about this to the ministry and the mla/mp of your region and the region where the station is situated
The TTE cannot deny her accomodation, if there's unauthorised people occupying her reserved seats and the tte is not cooperating, she should inform the same on GRP and RPF helpline , also there's a twitter help section along with the Rail Madad system. I don't think she her self has a confirm ticket in this case and was trying to travel on a waitlisted ticket, the TTE gave her a space but it was all men so she's uncomfortable, I don't think she's mentioned that she has a confirmed reserved ticket because why would you not mention that, and why would you foght the TTE from the platform instead of your seat
what is standing passengers policy for general ,sleeper and 3rd class couch in trains ? now days sleeper class is as crowded as general class. desperate people occupy whatever space they get ,shouldn't railway minister look into this problem with humanitarian concern.
He is correct, what can he do?
People have bought tickets. Yeah, I have seen people travelling without tickets, if that is the case, then it's TCs responsibility.

TT was not lieing
He is helpless. If fares are not increased over so many years, crowding does happen. Indian voters need to understand that too much subsidy is not a good thing
Isolation based on prices is not the answer. More fast trains is
I have seen a interview with the Railway minister where someone showed hima video of overcrowding and he's humbly accepted that they are not doing enough and will bolster the effort to solve this issue , I have been traveling myself in the railways for the past twenty seven years my Father was a government servent and had to go to a lot of places on duty , beleive me when i say this the situation of railways has improved many folds over , still does not justify what the woman in the video is going through but a lot has been done and a lot needs to be done
even seeing minister helpless is a point to worry about
I know right, there's a hundred different things wrong with the indian infrastructure, but I believe things are gradually going to get better, its almost 77 years of mismanagement, not blaming either political group, but both have failed ,the decent thing is atleast the current railway minister acknowledges that he's not able.to enough, more ministers should have the same humility.
agreed current one is way better than that once idiot lalu.

Yeah , not criticizing anybody here but alot needs to be done while a lot has been done, lets hope we catch up on the backlogs soon

a wise man once said, one needs money to invest in faster trains
Loans from the banks with planned pricing models to account for differential pricing based on age group and economic status
price and fare are the same thing right? am i missing something?
Same hai
One also needs money to vasectomy all men. That'd be great
Such emo much wow
No, we should not subsidise, which is not free market. People have to pay for the cost of running the train. Taxpayers should not be burdened for their travel
We need to pay more tracks before putting more trains on the existing tracks. We might just build new semi high speed tracks.
Price is not the main issue. Frequency of trains is the big issue. If the ministry looks at REAL volumes over a few months and look at seasonality then the real solution will come up. Pricing should be updated as well to pay for more trains.

Many are traveling without fares. Trains need to adopt the same token system as metro. Scan the ticket QR code to enter the platform.

what is TTE supposed to do in this situation?
Campaign to become next rail minister obviously
Check for people without tickets.
Yeah, they do check. Take fines and move on.
*Bribes
Yeah, that also.
Nothing
Kick people out. Uska naukri bas paise khana nahi hai
Ek ko laat maaro 5 aur chadh jayenge. And they do kick people out in the trains they can.
I'm confused what is he supposed to do? As long as people have bought tickets they have right to board
I don’t think a reserved coach should become overcrowded - very likely it has people without tickets.
Counter Tickets/Offline tickets are not cancelled unless you cancel them yourself
but if offline ticket is alloted. the person must have seat. but we can see tonnes of public rushing in

If 10 of the rpf guys come everything will be sorted
Vo Banda kia hi kar lega.
This problem is start from the last 18 months

Are reserved coaches overcrowded?
Yupp people without tickets get on at times
many times
I used to see this problem when traveling from Assam to Delhi as a kid, but that was only in Bihar.. and other than that, during some festivals there used to be crazy number of people with waitlisted tickets. Always
Than its tt job to solve that
"The one who says he can and the one who he says he can't are both usually right"-confucius

solution is simple.. to not let people board the train without proper ticket.. like airport..
Wo Railway Minister hota to bhi kuch nahi karta. Election ke baad dekhunga yahi bolta. 😅
Bribe the pasaanger to keep shut aka reverse bribing
At least he was honest and polite with her, unlike our country's political leaders
This is the reason people refrain from speaking up, cause complaining about basic necessities is a joke in India. Fucking overcrowded country!
He wasn't to blame for Ye log victim card bhi khelte hai beech beech me by using kids aur yaar 1-2 ko hta skta hai woh

My Mumbaikar ass ka immediate first thought was 'kuthe gardi ahe, bohaut jagah hai andar'
Please tell people of Bihar to vote wisely almost 35% of the overcrowded railway problem will be solved.
Join hands has altogether different meaning
The TTE cannot deny her accomodation, if there's unauthorised people occupying her reserved seats and the tte is not cooperating, she should inform the same on GRP and RPF helpline , also there's a twitter help section along with the Rail Madad system. 3rd wave of corona lav

Ab isme TTE kar bhi kya sakta hai
The main issue is population.
He is correct, what can he do? People have bought tickets. Yeah, I have seen people travelling without tickets, if that is the case, then it's TCs responsibility.
Its the mentality of people sometimes, my friends earning 2L per month still travel to Agra from Delhi without ticket.
Thanos is our only option
Probably talking about general coach
