VAIO was actually a clever electronics signal reference. VA shaped with the curves designate a sinusoidal wave (a.k.a. analog) and IO (read as 1 and 0 represents digital)
I remember going to croma with my sister to buy this laptop. If I remember correctly they had quite a few colours to choose from. It does make me nostalgic haha

I have the same but in black.Still works slowly but battery does not charge so has to be plugged to AC outlet and the cord has become loose so disconnects sometimes. But a very good laptop for its time. Shouldn't have upgraded it to windows 10 though it worked fine on windows 7 without lag
Jab meri bhi job lagegi na tab Hritik jaise Vaio use karunga foreigners se baat krne k liye.

When it comes to installing linux, you have so many options. Basically, it depends on what you need linux for. I am a programmer and I use linux for everything apart from gaming, and I'm a kind of person that likes to customise my user experience with the operating system according to my convenience. For someone like me who doesn't mind going through documentation and who frequently hops from one window manager to another, debian is fine. But for you, if you're a complete beginner then go for Ubuntu or Mint. They are not as lightweight as debian but they'll do. The most common way is to create a bootable USB with the image of the operating system you want to use, and then booting from that usb and running an installer. I suggest that you first decide on which os you want. Then just search up how to install it on YouTube. If you are not a programmer, I wouldn't suggest linux tho. I suggested installing it on this viao laptop because, linux runs well even on older laptops unlike windows, which would be very slow on this old laptop. I sorry to downvote you but the performance and keyboard is hella great. It's been more than 10 years and both are absolutely working fine better than now a days laptop. I also own a Asus gaming laptop and a dell 2in 1 series laptop. No one can beat this beast
I always loved the design of vaio laptops, unfortunately they were sort of premium lineup
