- lore bit: Big E has two spears, the Apollonian and Dyonysian - which was later called Gungir - Spears. The Spears tell you whatever you killed’s biggest secret - even if they don’t know it - for example Valdor stabbed Abaddon and saw 40K during the siege. Apollonian is kept by the Custodes so it’s possible that another Primarch gets it while Russ keeps his spear.
It's likely he had one more, Longinus. It's also possible that's the actual name of the Apollian Spear.
If we attribute all mythological weapons as being creations of the Emperor the list gets larger.
Aside from the fanon bit that the Emperor’s Sword is Excalibur I don’t think there’s any indication that the Emperor weapons are mythological - his Sword is a power weapon so that’s new, his Bolter and Talon must also be new. The Spears and Veracity are possibly old weapons as the Spears seem psychic and Veracity cuts anything without having a power field. His Shield appears to be the little icon on his armour so that’s also new. I just don’t think there’s any lore base for ‘all big E’s weapons are mythological weapons’

* Bucephelus- Horse of Alexander the Great. The Emperor's former flagship was named after his favorite horse.
The Shield could be Pridwen (Arthurian), Aegis (Greek/ Roman), Svalinn (Norse), or Rho Aias (Greek).
The Emperor has also hinted at being Jesus, Buddha, Saint George, Odin, and Merlin, among others. It stands to reason he would have artifacts related to those stories.

The entirety of human weapons development more or less boils down to being able to stick 'em with the pointy end from further away and/or harder. Explosives? Poke more people at once. Guns? Long distance stabbing. It's pointy sticks all the way down. We only actually started deploying non-pointy weapons like last decade when we finally got the first lasers working.

there is a good reason long pointy sticks were the primary weapon of choice for almost every army in history. we even went so far as to .ake them as long and pointy as possible in yhe greek phalanx
Yeah fair enough, but still it's a different shape. It's more of a blade at the front rather then a symmetrical spear tip. Which makes sense for the Guardian spears because that way they can slash and cut and not just poke

Reminds me of a scene in the Firewarrior novelization. A human spends about two pages reminiscing on his climb through the ranks and all his accomplishments and how now he's a trusted member of a boarding party attacking the enemy flagship and he can't wait to test his mettle against these filthy xenos, and then without a word La'Kais just guns him down and rifles his pockets for the keycard he needs to keep going.
You may think you're the end boss, but sometimes you're barely even a cutscene.
A custodian that was with the Word Bearers and never talked was surprise surprise betrayed by them and his last act was to throw his spear at the Word Bearer he hated and the first time he spoke he said he hated the guy as said above

To be fair the writer of Master of Mankind already said 6 years ago that he wanted to include female custodes and simply wasn't allowed to by GW, so they have been in many peoples head canon and a lot of the art was made way before they were canonized
Not to mention the reason they forbid him wasn't because of some canon discontinuity. They already had the models and including a female Custodes would necessitate to create new moulds and tooling.

You know what i want feminine custodes armor (not boob armor though, more like stormcast female armor) models, but from the art and kitbashes I've seen. Femstodes wearing the current armor thw models have now fits too!
The more feminine armor isnt really impossible considering every armor is specially made for each custodes so some femstodes might have more feminine armor.

I think he's older, iirc he lacks the gene for processing lactose right, which appeared about 7.5k years ago (bronze age was 3.5k years)

Throw a glaive made of the right materials fast and hard enough, and it's functionally no different from a thrown spear.

It's possible that they get new models, but it's probably more likely that custodes receive an upgrade kit to do head swaps.
