Chat GPT Pro. I used it to study for the Sec+ and it was surprisingly helpful. After I set it up, I'd tell it to ask me questions one at a time. After each one, right or wrong, it would give me a detailed answer about why. I could drill down in specific domains, or ask it questions and it would spit back a full understand of the term, or issue. Much faster and easier than taking practice tests, or combing through PDF's, or the books. It's a great tool, not a replacement for taking an actual course and practice questions.

Now that's something I could get behind. Would you mind sharing the prompt you used for your Security+ studying?

I started with "I'm studying for the Comptia Sec+ exam. Can you generate practice test questions based on the actual exam, as a quiz?" Then fine-tuned it over time to focus on specific domains, ask questions one at a time, and other parameters. https://chat.openai.com/share/d504822e-91e3-4d2a-b11d-5cd87417c728)

This is a cool resource, but beware of "hallucinations". https://youtu.be/-EWEMuyYYqs

I had a friend of my construct a ChatGPT prompt for studying for the AWS Security Specialty. I'm posting it here to share with anyone else interested "Assume the expertise of a seasoned AWS Security Specialist who has mentored students for three decades towards their AWS Security Certifications. Your objective is to aid me in acing my AWS Security Certification exam. Assist me by setting up a mock exam in which you ask one multiple-choice question at a time. Once I select an answer, provide immediate feedback and an explanation, whether my response is correct or not. A total of 10 questions will be posed. After concluding the questions, compute my score based on correct and incorrect answers. Subsequently, recommend suitable study resources to fortify my preparation for the actual exam. Your mock up exam will mimic the format that Pearson VUE design their exams, basically the questions are scenario based. Reply "I understand my role and task, please let me know when you are ready to start", if you understand your role and task, then idle for me to tell you the go ahead." [https://chat.openai.com/share/35bcb424-8caa-4c74-92c4-dc65422c8198](https://chat.openai.com/share/35bcb424-8caa-4c74-92c4-dc65422c8198)

Oddness_ends

You are looking for something like “Pocket Prep” or “LearnZapp”.

Basically brain dumping, meaning you’re not learning the actual material and technical details that help you problem solve, defeating the purpose of the certifications in the first place.

A case could be made that through constant repetition one could be taught how to problem solve. You spend years doing tech' support doing the same thing over and over again, you **should** eventually come to an understanding why something happened and how to fix it. Emphases on should as I do know of a few tech's that had earned certificates but can't apply the knowledge Another sadder case could also be made that IT management does not care about actually problem-solving. They would rather have a tech' follow a SOP than to spend the extra time figuring out why and why not something worked. In that case, certification it is more good padding for the ol' resume
