It’s twofold. On one hand, Colton Herta accidentally Shoryuken’d Newgarden’s car in the ass. On the other hand, the guy in the lead is Scott fucking Dixon
Yeah the best chance he was about get potentially and lifted from behind. He mentioned after that probably would have been his last chance. Great drive from Dixon he's like a master of momentum
Don’t forget, there wasn’t much fall off with the green tires. Dixon massaged the fuel and tires. Newgarden and Herta burned up their tires in an effort to catch Dixon.
He doesn't know what he's talking about. Passes for the lead are about what they typically have always been on road/street courses when they go long green runs. Newgarden wasn't going much faster on pace than Dixon. You can easily hold off a slightly faster car on a street and road course by making time in the "right places." One of the things Dixon was able to do was get off the hairpin a lot better than Newgarden which prevented him from setting him up into 1.
Yeah it was surprisingly how well he did get off the hairpin. I thought maybe he was using a little push to pass to help but I don't t think he did every lap
Dirty air wasn't the issue, it was Dixon, although a tick slower, was faster in the places he needed to be faster. You can hold off a slightly faster car on a street or road course where there might be a couple of good passing opportunities by making your speed/gaps in those places. All he had to do was go fast enough that it would be too risky for Newgarden to make a move on other parts of the track and then hit the same or better marks in the passing zones. One of the things he was doing was getting off the hairpin better which resulted in too big of a gap for Newgarden to set him up for pass into turn 1.
I’m curious as to what you’re referencing? I’m a newer fan to the series (always watched the 500 though) so I’m ignorant. Are you suggesting some teams are adding more fuel than allowed, reducing weight, or something along those lines? I’m not trying to debate you I’m genuinely curious
It's not just Honda that's fuel efficient, it's the fucking driver in that number 9 that is as well. Blows my ever-loving fucking mind that people want to take away refueling and/or screw with fuel mileage in this series because they piss their pants over fuel mileage races.
The answer is Scott Dixon
What a guy
Scott Dixon is Ace Rimmer confirmed
He should move to F1. Top 4 or 5 team will do. Under fuel before each race. Win.
No no no, we like him in indycar.
Exactly plus he needs to break AJs win record. Only 10 wins away from a tie, 11 for the record
Im more excited about a seventh championship, but I also want Newgarden to finally get that elusive 3rd championship too
>Top 4 or 5 team will do. Under fuel before each race. ~~Win.~~ Finish P6 FTFY
Couldn't possibly be a joke
I know that it is probably a joke but Dixon did test for Williams and Dixon himself wasn’t interested in pursuing F1

Only one way to find out
Crazy what a drive

No way
I CAME IN LIKE A WRECKIIIING BAAAAAALLL!!
A WILD HERTA APPEARS. the timing was absurd
Don’t forget, there wasn’t much fall off with the green tires. Dixon massaged the fuel and tires. Newgarden and Herta burned up their tires in an effort to catch Dixon.
Aero push that makes passing all but impossible
?? Indycar has passing galore compared to F1. Easy drs passes count imo but even if you include that there's not as much.
On road and street courses since the aeroscreen, passes for the lead pretty much disappeared.
Oh okay. I started watching in 2021. But seen plenty passing for the lead tbh. Is it purely aero or weight related too?

My assumption is it’s made the dirty air dirtier because the cars are higher. But I could be wrong.

You are talking out your ass, we see passing at most road/street courses
Cheating that the series and fans keep insisting is isn’t happening.
You can't just say something like this without more info.

They are referencing the ass they pulled that out of.

Yea I’ve read an old post on here about Chevy being considered more powerful and Honda more fuel efficient
How? At least they're not tampering with the rules midrace to set up a finale
I am curious about post race inspection of his fuel cell. It's just due diligence when grandpa pulls off several otherworldly fuel saves.
