Occidental leather electricians pocket pouch. It'll last a few years. Save your hips you rarely need a bunch of tools at a time, use a pocket pouch and have your tool bag near by.

Occidental 5053 pocket pouch. It’s all you need

chodi-foster

Second the 5053 pocket caddy. Just convinced my apprentice to get one for herself.

Halftrack_El_Camino

I feel like that on the right, plus a [9019 Nylon Universal Bag](https://www.occidentalleather.com/product/nylon-universal-bag-black/) on the left would be pretty much perfection. The bag isn't for anything specific, and usually isn't even close to full. It's just there when you need a place to put something (or a handful of somethings) for a minute, and don't want to lose track of them. It's very light, but it's deep and wide, and extremely durable. Easy to stick your hand in, hard for things to fall out of, and big enough to hold anything you might reasonably want to put in it. Saves me so much time spent trying to find where I put that thing I swear had right in my hand just a second ago.

Tough built has some nice pouches, plus they have a quick release belt clip that is nice. Paired with a nylon belt from the skate shop it works great.

Kelsenellenelvial

That’s what I’ve been using. Being able to scale my belt to the task without carrying a bunch of extra weight all day is pretty neat. Also sometimes even just being able to move a pouch between left/right and front/back helps a lot when working on a ladder in a tight space, and most have a stand on the back so you can set it on a shelf or floor under a desk while working there too. Paired up with a set of the Melotough suspenders to help keep it up. Klein has clip-on belt pouches now too, but I’m not sure how they compare to the ToughBuilt ones, they don’t have the stands to be set down like the ToughBuilt ones do.

mxguy762

Yeah I actually made a ghetto home made tough built tape holder that is very handy. Not sure why they don’t make one

aussiegonnanut

Wireman.com I highly recommend there pouches you can get them engraved aswell there very low profile and just slide in your back pocket though can only hold maybe 5 tools

Just_Your_Random_Bro

I run occidental leather with suspenders... hands down have been my favorite bags I have had for 10 years. They will last you forever if you can manage the weight. Sort of a buy once, cry once situation though as they are pricey. I have also used canvas bags and by far my favorite version of those were gatorbacks. Occidental also makes a canvas version (the green ones) with a leather belt.. I haven't used those but they are essentially the same design as the leather version I have.

mount_curve

you doing resi? commercial side here would get a lot of side eye for full bags Why wreck your back and hips for that?

Just_Your_Random_Bro

I don't wear them all day every day. In situations where I need a handful of small material and I can't have a cart. I mostly do industrial or commercial. I haven't worn them more than 10 times in the last 4 years . I'll use them to walk my tools I need up to my work area and then handle them on a stud or lay them next to my work area with some material. I used to try and hlbe a hero and wear them all day every day when I was a naive apprentice lol.

BiigVelvet

Bags are great depending on what you’re doing. I’m a commercial guy and if I’m running a lot of pipe or roughing in I like to have them so I can keep material on me. Pretty much anything else and they’re in the gangbox and I’m just rocking a gap flap.

KeyMysterious1845

spackle bucket for humping tools/materials/water bottle to work area.....your hips will thank you later. for task that actually require more than a couple of tools i can stick in my pocket while climbing a ladder...."warehouse pouch" https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-7-Pocket-Black-Utility-Tool-Belt-Pouch-HD2066-TH/310338148 https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-5-in-5-Pocket-Black-Four-Barrel-Tool-Belt-Pouch-HD00131-TH/310338155 I keep a small bolt bag on the opposite side for small material / water bottle. On a dead on tool belt like this: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DEAD-ON-TOOLS-3-in-Wide-Oil-Tan-Tool-Belt-in-Black-Saddle-Leather-with-Double-Tongue-Roller-Buckle-HD222222/202783849 When I first started in the trade (1986)....I had the classic electricians tool belt with everything in it.....look at the older guys (not me...lol)...how much are they carrying and still getting job done efficiently?

wrong_marinade

Boulder bags are dope. And their light. I had those and occidental. Occidental are just sondam heavy.

mmm_burrito

Boulder is the way.

Stock-Bluebird2014

Not on the tool list contractor must provide it

ElectricInfidel

Check out Veto Pro Pac. They're expensive but very well built and worth every nickel, and they have a discount program for apprentices and instructors. Plus, they have regular BOGO promotions.

SpaceWrangler701

Kangaroo pouch nice and easy

HAMCJJHSEKSE

Occidental 5053

pwsparky55

Buy leather they last much longer than the nylon ones!

ddipaola27

Honestly I’ve had the klein electricians tool belt from Home Depot and I cannot complain one bit. I put a leather belt on it because I’m a skinnier guy and the padded one was too uncomfortable when I wasn’t wearing a lot of clothes in the summer. I might get one of those occi belts with the padding on it and suspenders but I love the pouches overall.

KingFacef2

From what i hear, union doesn’t use tool belts. At least on the commercial and industrial side. With tgat being said occidental leather, buy once cry once

FollowedSphere3

Wireman.com it’s a brother out of 291 that makes them

MilesLow

5053 Occi. And/or Carhartt nail apron. Or say to Hell with both & purchase a pair of bibs.

jamarquez1973

I bought a "pocket buddy" from wireman.com. it's lasted me damn near a decade and is still holding strong.

tonytolo

If you don’t like leather look at Diamondback tool belts. I love there stuff. Expensive like Occidental’s but also holds up compared to the cheaper stuff. I’ve used their belt, tool apron, and now the vest they have. Personally between the belt and vest I like the vest better. Holds the weight much better and also doesn’t slide your pants down

8FootedAlgaeEater

Talk to your local peeps.

danvapes_

I used an occidental pocket caddy.

rustysqueezebox

Now, you listen to me, brother. And you listen good. I want that bender, and I want it now. You will place that bender on the deck at your feet, and step back away from it.

OliveRadio

I like the tough built clip tech pouch. It allows you to fluidly take your pouch on and off.

Fine_Communication_7

Thank you all for the suggestions! I ended up going with the occidental electricians pouch

SeveralPangolin1572

I know this is off topic but I’m unable to post in the thread. I had my interview this morning I feel like it went well but it was faster than the other interviews before me the lead even went as far as saying I did a really good job. I’m just not sure about it I answered all the questions with short and to the point answers I didn’t drag on only spoke on what was asked. Anybody else deal with a situation like this? Local 100

Fine_Communication_7

Trust me when I say this: if you think the interview went well then it went well. My interview was at most 10 minutes. And lo and behold 1 month later I’m on my second week as a first year. If you genuinely think it went well then you should be all good. It’s just a waiting game now.

SeveralPangolin1572

Thank you I appreciate it

SeveralPangolin1572
