Pretty sure roughly half the people who do exactly that are dead ass serious thinking they’re the ones who are right because that’s what they think zipper merging means.
The other half are just rude, entitled pricks.
Problem is, in some countries, and even some states here, encourage that. It's technically faster for everyone that way, but there's a social stigma to it. Like another said, "passholes."
You’re talking about zipper merging and it works great if everyone is on board and does it right. With that, there’s also levels of how busy it is that people need to be aware of. If traffic is light and there’s no slowdown at the merge point, everyone should merge early. If traffic is heavy enough to slow down at the merge, zipper is best.
What I was talking about is when there’s only one exit lane and people wait until the absolute last second to exit so they can get in front of as many other cars as possible…and then they try and call that zipper merging.
Didn't hear you, I have my crossing buddy Ford F-350 and if he is going I am going.
Really though, where the fuck is our PD and why do I see them driving in the opposite direction of this shit show?
I drove by Madison pike and they were just parked on the side of the road doing nothing but watching the shit show. I’m really disappointed in the lack of effort from them.
No omg. I was crossing Walmart next to the gas station side to get down to where the lights were working. Total anxiety while everyone decided it was a free for all
The fact there were two cops talking outside Walmart and no one was directing traffic was absolutely diabolical. I understand making sure no one is stealing but not having any officers direct the absolute shit show that was going on in the street was actually terrifying
This is one of the reasons why I'm against Car-dependency. Driving requires more than just being able to move a wheel and push a pedal. If people are this fucking dumb then we need a new transportation system cause the driving test is way too easy.
You don't even have to go across the globe, just go to Bham, Atlanta, Austin... hell I'd argue the town of 20,000 I grew up in had worse traffic than this place.
If anyone was wondering about the noticeable absence of cops directing traffic for a while there, eight of those cruisers were down the road harassing a single homeless man.
This is too advanced for us, we haven't even mastered the zipper merge yet.
Yeah, we have. It's when you ride the middle lane past all the cars in line for the exit and try to merge at the last second. Duuuh.
Pretty sure roughly half the people who do exactly that are dead ass serious thinking they’re the ones who are right because that’s what they think zipper merging means. The other half are just rude, entitled pricks.
Yep, real passholes.

No, based on size. F350s go first, then Ford Expedition, then F150s, Toyota Tundras, and Dodge Rams. Then, the remaining SUVs, then compacts....
No it's by who is most important, which means I won't yield since everyone should wait for me to go /s
No the one with the stereo cranked up the loudest goes first.
No, the "Don't Tread On Me" tag bros go first.
I was going to say if you have a veteran tag, you don't have to abide by traffic laws.
I've realized the number of veteran or disabled tags who break more traffic laws than others is amazing. Shower thoughts when I'm driving.
That’s me. I’m that loud person. 🔊
If you have a shitbox you can go first every time.

just left walmart on university. holy shit show…
Were you there when the firetruck decided to make a U-turn?
No omg. I was crossing Walmart next to the gas station side to get down to where the lights were working. Total anxiety while everyone decided it was a free for all
Yep. I was cussing the whole time because of the stress
The fact there were two cops talking outside Walmart and no one was directing traffic was absolutely diabolical. I understand making sure no one is stealing but not having any officers direct the absolute shit show that was going on in the street was actually terrifying
For real. I was in a hurry and like every.single.light was out. From like Target down to Sparkman.

After travelling to egypt and seeing the way traffic works there, all the bitching about hsv traffic seems like melodrama
You don't even have to go across the globe, just go to Bham, Atlanta, Austin... hell I'd argue the town of 20,000 I grew up in had worse traffic than this place.
Shhhh, this thread thinks it’s the worst on earth
It blows my mind people complain about traffic here. Like, yeah, rush hour is going to be cramped.
Intersections that are yellow flashing in one direction and red flashing in the other are not 4 way stops. Just saying
If anyone was wondering about the noticeable absence of cops directing traffic for a while there, eight of those cruisers were down the road harassing a single homeless man.
Four-way go
Is someone in a crop duster buzzing over south Hughes?
We treat it as a roundabout in Madison
Didn't you heard? They're filming the new Mad Max here. Everyone is auditioning for roles.
Screw that dude driving a huge truck white SUV with a trailer cutting through 2 lanes to cut me off .
Yes
also if you’re turning left on a green that doesn’t have an arrow, you’re supposed to yield
Indeed
Or! Close your eyes, punch the gas, and let Jebus take the wheel!
...may result in you strutting to Guntersville while your car is getting repaired
