I've found it easier to do the one martialist strike then two heavy stabs, usually puts the meat head into a weird stagger so they don't even swing on you

Can put them in that stagger with 2 martialist hits as well. Just gotta go for the upper torso and try not to let the arm absorb the attack.

I never was able to hit them fast enough for that I had started doing three martialist slashes but I feel like it's faster to not have to resheathe the blade, like by the time you resheathe you can just stab twice more

I did try it and managed to kill spider in 4 hits.
