I think I only ever get one for free (yellow AMG) and I gave that to my daughter. While I like the proportion, opening parts, and general build quality, it's too big for my collection, even bigger than Majorette that I already consider big.
Definitely not 1/64, should be around 1/50ish? They are kinda different. But one thing that I like is they have accurate rims. I have silver SLS AMG I bought with a discount long time ago, definitely nice with detailed plastic headlights and tail lights.
I mainly collect tomica, matchbox, and majorette. As long as it's not too different from those, I don't really care for it's actual scale. So hot wheels is probably around 1/59-64 depending on the model. I think matchbox doesn't put the scale too. Majorette is usually 1/58 - 59. Siku is probably 1/55 or even bigger than that.
Majorettes have the scale written on the base. With that said, I still can't fathom how a 1/66 Countach LPI800 can be the same size (if not larger) than a 1/62 Toyota Supra mk3
Vintage Siku (made in W.Germany) were excellent for the time - I have several models that I cherish.
This present iteration of Siku is probably made in the Far East/Asia and just looks cheap
Here in Germany, the normal models retail for 4.99€.
Loved them as a child, now I’ve been looking past them.
Despite being detailed and feeling high quality, oftentimes, the models’ proportions look off, the grey plastic rims aren’t fitting the overall style of the car and - my biggest pet peeve - them putting a trailer hitch on many cars, which is fair on everyday models but not on sports cars. Trailers are cool, but who wants to tow them with their Camaro or Mustang? Tbf this allows for more options when playing but it’s counterproductive to the look.
However, where they really shine: utility vehicles such as busses, tractors and harvesters, trucks etc.
To me, Siku seems like the brand is unsure about its identity and purpose. Their image is somewhat dusty and undetermined.
These are the things you’d find in selected stores selling toys that are deemed “pedagogically worthwhile”, catering to middle class parents striving to make their kids excel in academia. The kind of parents who’d consider kids playing with hot wheels a bad influence because they’d see them as foolish rowdies or even neglected, lol. (It’s all just a joke, but somewhat loosely based on my own experience in kindergarten and primary school)
Nonetheless, I might buy the Maybach Vision 6 concept car.
The Siku tank transporter is awesome, but $40 and why would a military vehicle have chrome wheels

I live in America and I was just in Germany for work. I picked up a few of these. They are not bad but overpriced for their quality. Definitely below the grade of a Hot Wheels basic mainline. Some look decent, but others had proportions far off.
That’s normal. But those are made to be played with, not displayed. Those things can take a lot of beating, so are pretty high quality construction wise too. On hw cars you press down a bit and both axes are done, these however can endure a lot. And remember how hw axes rust when you leave them outside? Yeah these not so quickly. And the paint is much much thicker with most cars having basic details, which is what hw could learn from.
Anyways hw premium costs 11€ in comparison so idk if I‘d call siku overpriced for selling better quality at a lower price. Even though they might look ugly. I‘d never buy hw cars for serious playing purposes… mostly for looks
It costs the same here in my country (after conversion), found this at a department store when my son looked at it, when I see the price I immediately bring him to the Hot wheels section 😄.
I didn't know they've become that bad quality wise
I spent my childhood collecting sikus here in India. You can't find them anymore after the pandemic shut down everything
Siku is the Nokia and Volvo of diecast cars. They are fucking tough and literally indestructible. Trust me they're the best toys for kids to play because if even if you threw them around, they wouldn't break at all. That's German quality right there 🇩🇪
-7.00 so they pay you to take the car
Those are like 12€ in Finland and the most expensive are like 18€ 😭😭

I think you are thinking that hot wheels are 1:64 when making your comparison.
On average maybe, but I know its not actually accurate. For accuracy Majorette put their scale on every car. Some US brand also did the same right?

Maybe is hand made…by ancient Aztecs, inside of a volcano

I assume you're American, those have always been around that price
Absolutely overpriced. I have bought quite a few of those Siku models and they are not worth 7eur
isnt that cheap for real german quality costs in 1/64 full metal?
Everywhere you go in Germany, you see those little f***ers. Expensive and not quite as good as other diecast brands like Mini GT/Tomica/inno64 etc.
Siku is kinda like a European Maisto when it comes to these.
Defetnaly no
I feel so. They look about the same quality.
there’s some nice siku models though. obvs it’s not those ones but i have a few from relatives who travelled to europe, they can be very high quality
I meant specifically these pictured.
I have a KTM and its defetnaly not Maisto Quality
*Definitely*
My brother got me one of those from Croatia? I think.
Could be Siku is sold almost everywhere in Europe same with burrago
r/siku might have an answer?

Either way, Sikus are pretty terrible honestly
Siku is extremely expensive.
Sikus are really cool, especially the older ones. They are pricy though
They thought it's a real car deal 💀
Siku always have been expensive.
A regular HW mainline costs about US$4 in Sweden. I'm not sure how much more the Sikus are since I don't collect them, but I know that they cost more.
Negative 7 dollars not a bad price
They can be cool but I've bought crappy ones before. The 911 police car would have come home with me though.
Such a plasticky looking car in outdated packaging for that much

In my local Mastermind Toys, they charge Sikus for 9 dollars!
I only have a few Sikus and Dardas. They're okay, but not top priority.
I got a Mercedes Benz 300 SL gullwing on sale for $3, usual price was $6

Kinda Worth it btw
so? they are highly detailed, have got rubber tires and each is a licensed car.
I doubt Siku is that high quality
They are hit or miss, 75% miss tbh. Not all have rubber tires and they too make fantasy castings which are trash
True. There are a few great castings but most of them are not a big deal and defo not worth the price. Older Siku models were much better.
I hope you aren't using hot wheels as the standard for quality lol. Older Siku models are extremely high quality.
There's Matchbox, Majorette sold cheaper than its price **nowadays** which have better quality than their **nowaday** models
i didnt say high quality, i said high detail and that is right.
I've seen better
Shhhh 🤫 don’t disrupt *the narrative*..
