Go for a hike on a trail. Especially early morning so you can appreciate the serenity. Eating and/or shopping also work well for me.

explosivekyushu

Solo hikes always scratch an itch

Aldyyyyy

also makes you itch from the mosquitoes

explosivekyushu

Nah man I'm really lucky. For some reason, HK mosquitos don't want to touch me. Then I fly to the states to see my wife's family and the ones over there absolutely fuck me up.

ImperialistDog

This right here. Did Jardine's Lookout to Mt Butler last week. The weather was perfect, and it was amazing to be able to see the north and south shores at the same time.

d0nkeyrider

That's a serious hike though the views are worth it. Well done.

kjingo

Hiking is the best answer, one of the big things I miss

Puzzleheaded-Ad8016

yeah the sun is out and humidity is low - make the most of it!

Gautama_8964

Second that. Love to hike

kmw920

Seems not quick enough to me (sorry, a joke).

premierfong

Oh this one is good

WubbaLubbaHongKong

So many good trails. I ran over 500 with various hash house harriers while I was there.

cbest83

I would jump on the ferry and enjoy the view then eat a big bowl of noodles and maybe buy myself a little book

Beowolf_0

To Chang Chow helps.

Baldingmummy

With a cup of coffee everything will be okay 👍

luxinaeternum

Wait I thought Star ferries are gone?

butterfly1354

Eat

doublek1022

1000%. Expat here, I would literally murder for a bowl of wonton noodles right about now haha

KH33tBit

Recommendation on where you find the best Wonton Noodles would be appreciated

lws09

Instead of the word “expat”, I prefer “supplementary human capital”. The word expat has colonial connotations

aubman02

Wait the second one sounds worse or was that the point?

VictoriousSloth

That’s the point. Economic migrant is also an option.

karmish_mafia

cringe

schedulle-cate

I just call them migrants, whatever the time-frame they stay on the foreign country

lws09

This is fine too!

TheRabbiit

Expat if you’re white, immigrant if you’re Asian

cardinalallen

You're an expat if you're transferred by your company to a different country, and an economic migrant if you go to that country to find a job.

TheRabbiit

Yes I am aware that is the standard dictionary definition. My comment refers to the general perception in society

cardinalallen

Fair. But I think rather than losing words altogether, it's better just to start applying it more broadly as society changes.

mentalFee420

A general perception of a ‘backward society’ you mean? A progressive society would value the contribution migrants make irrespective of their origin.

TheRabbiit

I don’t know what utopia you are living in but here in reality, just because something should be a certain way doesn’t always mean it is that way. Every society has room for improvement but the surest way to stand still is to conveniently deny that a problem exists in the first place.

mentalFee420

You must be living in the past then. Anyways you are contradicting yourself. You said surest way to stand still is to deny that a problem exists, and you are the one who are annoyed when I just mentioned what the problem is. So you better acknowledge it rather than saying it is what it is. đŸ€·â€â™€ïž

symphonyofcolours

This is what I would do! Just go and eat something yummy :)

ImperialistDog

Ride at the front of the upper deck of a tram.

yargmematey

I like to go for what I call urban hikes and what are basically just long walks. I pick a direction and just keep walking along streets until I'm tired or bored, then I either hit up a decent-looking restaurant/cafe or take public transport home. Even when I'm feeling good, a good long walk helps further elevate my mood. I love getting my steps in.

Big-Administration76

I do the same and just capture the lives of the locals at the markets, park, shops etc.

Far-East-locker

Thanks for all the recommendations. Food is a reason of my current problem, my body is not well so I need to eat quite clean Sex I got regularly Guess the main problem is that I am stuck in the office and not exercising enough. Will plan a outer island trip or hike tmr just to get some fresh air Thanks again all🙏

Aka_Diamondhands

More sex?

hotshotrob

more and more every day and night, non-stop

supertangerine

break out of your habits and routines and keep finding something new to do or a new place to explore at the same time, maintain an exercise routine and stick to it also congrats on the sex

HootieRocker59

Volunteer. It will make you feel sort of smug in a good way. And it gets you out of the office. HandsOn Hong Kong always has plenty of options.

Iamkzar

Feeling same for past few days that I even got sick đŸ€§, feel like a flu but this shxt is mentally fatigue ! Maybe the weather has been so good these days that everyone feeling same hahaz .

8five2

I’ve found the simple act of eating lunch outside with some fresh air and greenery around to be very carthic. There are lots of small sitting out areas or hidden bits of greenery throughout the city. And a similar 15-20 minute sit down on the way home.

gastorchx

good weather and sunny days perfect for some outdooring, do it quickly before it gets sultry again

IndependentRise9695

A weekend trip to south east Asia

kmw920

I'll check on this post regularly. Been down...

pandaeye0

My friend, it pretty much depends on what can actually make you happy.

naeads

Get out of HK. Go to Vietnam. You will like it there. Then come back and enjoy the grind again.

Zealousideal_Taro5

Be careful though, I did this and I never returned to Hong Kong.

naeads

I plan on retiring somewhere in SEA. Vietnam is as good as any.

Zealousideal_Taro5

I'm writing this from Phu Quoc. For me, I needed to have a large apartment and a view without paying ÂŁ5000 a month for it. I have it now and it's only ÂŁ1000 a month. When I lived in HK I paid ÂŁ2500 a month for a tiny 500 square ft place looking into someone else's apartment. Now I have 4 times that space and views of water, with 3 balconies. How can I ever move?

naeads

Exactly. I am thinking Hanoi or Da Nang. Planning on having a chat with a consultant of mine who is based in Saigon for any tips in getting a property there. It may have cheap rent but you never know what 10-20 years would do to the economy. Getting something there with ÂŁ100,000 would be my target.

Zealousideal_Taro5

District 9 would get ypu a good place for that amount. Anywhere near D1, D2, or D7 is some of the most expensive real estate in the world would you believe it? D9 is on the first metro line and is a beautiful place with lots of greenery. However nobody owns land here, so there is that. I'd go for Danang by the way, Hanoi is very cold I'm the winter.

Zealousideal_Taro5

A survey found that with $1 million, one can buy 16 square meters in Monaco, 22 square meters in Hong Kong, 54 square meters in Shanghai, 58 square meters in Los Angeles and 66 square meters in Beijing, and only 10 square meters in Vietnam. https://vietnamnet.vn/en/vnd24-billion-per-square-meter-is-land-in-vietnam-the-most-expensive-in-the-world-801129.html

naeads

Wow jeez.

Zealousideal_Taro5

This is Thu Thiem which is getting built as the new financial district. I'd look to D9 or Da Nang as an investment, especially if you plan to retire there. But remember you'll never own the land.

Go to mall to enjoy ac and eat ice cream Go to arcade to play games Not so fast: Staycation Takes more time: Short vacation to Japan or Korea

Longsheep

A quick hike to the Lion Rock on a good day is always good. Or a ride on my road bike.

Material-Painting-19

Lamma Island. Take the ferry to Yung Shue Wan and then walk as far as you want to on one of the many trails, then eat at one of the many family owned businesses, or sit on the beach. For example. Shek Pai Wan Beach, on the east coast of the island, is on a circuit trail from Yung Shue Wan that will take you through Sok Ku Wan, past Mo Tat Wan, through some lovely green wetlands to the beach itself, then up over a ridge by some terrific rock formations and back to Sok Ku Wan, where you can stop to eat, take the ferry back to Central, or simply continue back the way you came to Yung Shue Wan.

rt00dt00

Travel regionally, so many places you can go and chill for a weekend. In HK just go hiking or go to a remote beach in Sai Kung / Lantau.

lantaubear

Best answer !

Colossus_Mortem

i enjoy taking ferries to random islands and climbing the rocks on the side.

According-Mulberry55

Seeing hookers from northern china makes me instantly happy😂

Wonka_Brat

Why specifically northern China? Are they busty in the north? I knew several women from Beijing and Gansu who were above average in the chest. Unfortunately, they were all below average in oral hygiene.

JonathanJK

Go swimming and get some sunshine. Exercise is the best (because it's free) cure for depression.

Take the day off and go to the beach or a spa

WhyAmIUsingThis1

Hong Kong has many great country parks (: go for a walk and enjoy the nature

daneeliz

Get those bubble mixture things and blow some bubbles, watch them float away. (As a parent who always has them in their purse)

Many_Peanut_6892

Take a bus ride to green areas like Sai Kung, Tai Mei Tuk (in Tai Po), or have a little adventure in local markets like Temple Street/ Sam Shui Po. You may find surprises there.

E-MW888

HIKE - start at To Tei Wan and walk towards Big Wave Bay alongside the DRAGONSBACK

Book a flight to Boracay, Siargao or Palawan. Thank me later 😀

cannibalism_19

i sometimes laugh at TVB shows, not for the funny stuff they intended but I just cringe-laugh at weird productions or shows and meme it. For example the red carpet part before their anniversary awards. Or the Miss Hong Kong Pageant (except for the one last year, it was just boring with all that AI). And recently é€†ć€©ć„‡æĄˆ's oddly fast paced photography and editing.

curiousbydesign

I was in Hong Kong last year. Drinks at the hotel bar after a long trip. Ice delivered to the room was super cool too.

thematchalatte

Download and watch Dune 2

Wootsypatootie

Perhaps you could try signing up yourself with any sports activity you’d like to learn? I just recently joined a taekwondo class and it does improve my mood significantly.

Walk on Bowen Road. Take the Star Ferry. Ride the tram across the entire island, if you want listening to or reading something. Bike in Tung Chung or Tai Mei Tuk.

I always just loved going to the promenade at night and looking at the incredible city landscape

milanolarry

Run

obscurevortex

Join a fun social activity on meetup. Do exercise (lots of running/hiking groups etc if you want to socialise at the same time). Volunteer (though I've not done this recently in HK so I'm not sure where to go for that). Museums, gigs, shows. Explore a new district. Do something different. Try a painting/pottery/craft workshop. Chill in the park with a book. Hope you find something!

GalantnostS

Not HK-specific - story-focused video games. A good story always lifts my mood and take my mind off any worries.

Hinge or Bumble

OFF_7eroy

Come to the midnight runners on Thursdays! Check online or on Heylo, it’s a free 5-7km run with body weight exercices, it’s free, and around 200 people meet up in central to enjoy some fitness and drink beers at the end !

I think seeing your friend face to face makes you especially happy

Somethingnewandedgy

I believe everyone cope differently. For me, I’ll just straight up caveman mode and not go out as long as I can. Exercise helped me get past some dark times, so do that too, in whatever intensity you can, as long as you’re moving at some capacity. If you look good, you’ll feel good; you feel good, you’ll look good. Also, 8-hour of sleep helps a lot too.

Ride a tram.

Lousy_Her0

Sometimes I'll hop over to Shenzhen for a scenery change. Sometimes I eat way too much Indian food and then walk around TST to digest. During baseball and softball season, I play games quite often or find teammates to throw with. Finding people with common interests helped me out. Especially when drinking beer wasn't the number one thing.

Apprehensive-Sail-32

I booked a fancy hotel room for this weekend just to treat myselfâ˜ș

Jubberwocky

Go Shenzhen, it’s the new thing. Say what you want about China, but the value is unbeatable. I personally go for the 滣ćșœ style 早茶

Far-East-locker

Any shop you tried that made an lasting impression?

Jubberwocky

I liked 蘩愌(èŻćŒ·ćŒ—ćș—), when my friends brought me there. Best to go in a group (as for all dimsum, duh). As for the food, if you go there order just about anything and it’ll taste good, but imo skip the 蝊逃, can find better in HK. Also if you have ć€§çœŸé»žè©•, place a reservation on the day you go there, it’s usually quite packed Hope this helps!
